Bates Supplement
* How did you discover Bates? Why do you wish to attend Bates?
->->->Circling the college fair at a local high school gymnasium was quite overwhelming. I was a mere junior and was simply interested in attending a school in New England. Specifically, I was, and still am, interested in studying Computer Science. When I saw a poster with the location "Lewiston, Maine" I immediately walked over to learn more about the school. The representative just so happened to be giving information out about Bates College. Right then I realized that I had found the school that offered me everything I wanted.
->->-> The primary attraction that Bates College offers to me is their Computer Science program. I attend a small school, which only offers an online computer science class. This is quite limiting since there is no real way for interaction between the teacher and student, and there are not as many computer related resources available. Luckily, I have had a glance at the subject of computer science and have finally found a career path that interests me. At Bates College, the Computer Science curriculum is phenomenal and is taught by a wonderful professor, David Haines. Studying at their elite labs with a small number of students in each class would be a dream. Surrounding myself with the faculty and students at Bates can only push me towards future success. Learning with other peers that share the same interest in computers as I do would be very stimulating and push me to my limit. In addition, Bates has a great network of connections that can connect students to major-related jobs. Finding a job pertaining to programming, game design, or any of the like would be a plus since the job market is nmot doing so well. All in all, how could I not want to attend Bates College?
