FIRST ESSAY
Dear Future Roomies,
Greetings to yours truly. On the first note, I would say I'm not the average person some people expect me to be; rather, I'm more of the quirky and whimsical type. You don't believe me? Well, first impression always counts right? Yeah, I am as tall as an average Asian girl can get (i.e. 163 cm), I have a set of black doe eyes, and thankfully a lanky body!!! BUT!! Behind that normal facade, I have this crazy obsession with Disney cartoons. Yeah, yeah, I know. What a dork. Well, I'm not ashamed to say teardrops were flowing when Simba, the young lion heir lost his own dad in The Lion King animation. Seriously, being a holder of the ASEAN scholarship in Singapore, whenever friends come to visit my dorm room, they immediately distinguish my bed spot from my fetish of Disney miniatures where they are artistically arranged in a tasteful manner on the shelf of my study table. I know every one of the Disney songs in my heart. Playing the lyrical harmony of Disney songs constantly in the piano room at the Singapore hostel led to friends nicknaming me "the Disney loving bimbo on the piano". Arts, music and particularly Math intrigue me. I should forewarn you on my "epiphany zone" whenever I'm doing an exceptionally tough Math question. My ex Singaporean roomies knew when not to pester me especially when I'm reaching an epiphany during a tough Math problem. Though if you do need help in anything at all (especially Math), hey, I'm your girl. What else do you need to know about me? I sort of absent-mindedly drum my fingers all the time which you may find irritable. Oh, and I do have to remind myself of my emotionless poker face which some people find disturbing and try to twitch my face muscle expressions a bit more. Friends call me sarcastic, I call it charm and wit. Hah! I do hope we have the best of our Stanford years living together as besties!

SECOND ESSAY
Howdy partner! I'm a Malaysian. But don't get me wrong, I'm not a Malay (which most of my Singaporean friends thought I was when I first met them since I'm from MALAYsia). I'm actually a Malaysian Chinese. At first glance, you may think that I'm your average Asian girl, with jet black hair and dark eyes. But once you get to know me, you will know that there's a crazy and quirky person living inside me. Don't be alarmed when you see me suddenly jumping off my chair and start grooving to Korean pop music. And don't be surprised when you hear gibberish coming out of my mouth as I sing along to Korean music. But I'm starting to get the hang of the Korean language. I'm now learning it from a superb website! Okay, other than the fact that I'm obsessed with K-pop, I also love digging my nose and biting my toenails. Just kidding!!! You will never EVER catch me doing those things. I may have to warn you though; I'm not exactly the cleanest person around. My room back in the hostel in Singapore has won "The Worst Room" for consecutively two years. Well, I was living with 3 other people so I was not fully responsible though I do think I play a significant part. Oh! I have a fear of cockroaches. The last time I encountered one was in my hostel room. I was screaming and crying like nobody's business but fortunately one of my roommates is a brave cockroach killer. So I do hope that you are not afraid of cockroaches too. Or else, we may have to stake out somewhere other than our room. Okay, here comes the best part, I'm a Pro Barber (Professional Barber). That's what my ex-roommates called me when I offered to cut their hair one day and they were delighted with the results. So my roomie, you don't need to spend a dime just to have your locks chopped off because the Pro Barber is here, living with you. Hmm what else do you need to know about me...Oh yeah, I hate seafood especially crabs. They remind me of Sebastian the Crab in 'The Little Mermaid', one of my favourite cartoon characters. Okay, that's it. I hope we will be able to the best of roomies in Stanford!

HELP ME DECIDE WHICH ESSAY IS BETTER AND HOW CAN I IMPROVE IT THANKYOU!!!!

I really like the second one. It is playful without being overboard.

for consecutively two years<--- Change to for two consecutive years

I play a significant part<--- Play should be played because it is past tense
