Hi everyone, this is my personal profile. please edit and leave a comment

Explain how you responded to a problem and/or an unfamiliar situation. What did you do, what was the outcome, and what did you learn from the experience? (maximum 200 words)

During my very first shift working at a hot pot restaurant, I was expected to work without sufficient training. I explicitly told my manager that I had zero waitressing experience or training beforehand; despite that, nobody took the time to give me guidance. For a complete newbie the waitress-learning process was harsh - particularly with providing exceptional table presence when things got busy and ensuring orders were taken quickly and precisely. Ultimately, I grit my teeth and was forced to adapt and learn on the spot, dealing with venting customers and disapproving looks as graciously as possible. I accepted my superiors' scoldings with an open mind and came to meet their high expectations, gradually gaining their trust and resulting in me becoming one of their trusted employees. Through the many blunders I learned how to persevere through mistakes and gained precious adaptability skills, and the entire experience served to build character and push me out of my comfort zone. The takeaway skills I garnered were applicable to all facets of my life; mistakes are inevitable - what's important is to learn from said mistakes and look ahead as a progressively wiser, better person.

Jenny, in order to better reflect the seeming hopelessness of your situation, you should better describe a specific incident at the workplace that left you with a big problem in this unfamiliar situation. Then explain how you managed to handle it properly even though you do not have any experience in the field of waiting on tables. The explanation that you gave is very generalized in presentation and does not strongly present a professional trait that can help you become a better student in college.

This is actually a trick essay prompt. The idea behind this is to have the student explain his work ethic while also depicting your ability to handle stress under pressure. When things get rough for you, what do you do? Make sure to explicitly explain how and why you handled the situation that way. Give the reviewer a clear idea of what to expect of you as a potential student. Keep your line at the end where you talked about mistakes being inevitable. That is a very important part of your life lesson that has helped you become a better individual and hopefully, an exemplary student. So make sure to keep that as your concluding sentence.
