Leadership is defined as an act or instance of leading, guidance or direction. But to me it really means so much more. Without leadership there would be nothing but chaos, any institute would fall completely apart. Leadership appeals to me the most because it provides people with someone to look up to, leading them to great things. Leadership can be a sense of organization, which is also always needed. With leadership you can move mountains.
In any big organization like AARP groups, Girl Scout Troupes, churches or even the National Basketball Association there are president's troupe masters and pastors. These are all people set aside to govern these groups in the right direction. In all these groups people need someone to look up t, show them right from wrong. People in these positions can be seen often as a role model or prime example of how they should and how their attitude should be. At FSU if the Dean or Dorm Advisor is out partying all night or involved in illegal activities, the students will think these activities are alright to engage in also.
Have you ever been a part of something where there was no structure? Pure chaos, being in a group with no leader is like a body with no head. A body with no head is pointless, it has nothing directing it. A group with leadership has more organization, more things are accomplished and goals are met. I remember a time where I had been involved in a Girl Scout troupe where its leader had passed away. For a while everyone had their own input, and different ways of running the organization. Different cliques had formed and everyone was doing their own thing. Finally a leader was chosen and thing became more clear and organized. Decision were made and everything was put back in order.
In a nut shell, of the characteristic that Florida State University shows, one that sticks out to me like a needle in hay stack is Leadership. Statistics show that leadership 83% benifical to a group. With leadership it provides the people with someone to look up to and a sense of organization. "With leadership it can provide a foundation for ideas and excellence, showing others that anything is possible".
