An issue of importance to and its significance (Terror strikes)

Need help with the essay!has to be proofread.im not sure if i have answered the question exatly.

Choose an issue of importance to you-the issue could be personal, school related, local, political, or international in scope-and write an essay in which you explain the significance of that issue to yourself, your family, your community, or your generation.

We talk about being non violent and preach to the world about practicing peace, maintaining friendly relations with our neighbouring countries. In reality do we follow it?the latest attack in mumbai, india on november 26 has taken many innocent lives. Combatting terrorism has become a difficult task. Unless we are affected by it we do not realize the intensity of the situation. Mumbai, one of the busiest and commercial places of india is shattered by this incident. We blame the political parties for their negligence. But 'we' fail to think of a remidial for the security of the people.

the political circus will now begin. They say that this tragedy shall be yet another electoral card. They say that this too shall be forgotten. They say enough is enough. They say we need to do something.

But are THEY going to tell us what we should do?
The intrepidity of the terror unleashed on our Mumbai has left us shell shocked. Across the globe millions of Indian hearts resonate in sympathy and support for our Mumbaikars. We stand united...in condemning and criticising.

We condemn acts of violence, we proclaim our hatred for terrorists. Our army, navy, RAF, NSG, ATS, media and doctors are spending sleepless nights working for our people.

But as India bleeds for the eighth time this year, what is her desperate plea to her citizens?

She asks us to be shoulders for those who have lost loved ones, to help ensure that everyone you know is safe and well and to be beside those who are away from home and worried for family and friends in Mumbai.

This isn't India's first terror strike and it surely won't be the last (unless we figure out how to burn out every root of every form of Extremism in India.)

the intelligent and the educated have to think about the flaws in our internal security system. This is not a call to point at the government and say "Look where focussing on foreign and economic policy while neglecting security issues have landed us!" We need to learn about the obstacles faced while installing a fully functional security system. Do you really think it is feasible to install metal detectors and e-cards at our railway stations given just the sheer immensity of the number of people that commute daily, not to mention the frustrating inconvenience which it will cause to the thousands that are in a mad rush to get to work every morning? How do we solve this?

It's easy to condemn, it's easy to criticize. While I do believe that responsibilty for failure needs to be tracked down, pinned and accepted, blindly criticizing the government at this juncture is probably not going to achieve anything, much less drive them to do any more. we debate about such issues and write books and scrutinize into every intricate detail.but in reality we fail to put an end to such attacks.

We have been studying about wars for decades now.it has become part of our history syllubus.fashism to nazism to world war 1 to world war 2 to the american war of independence. Such attacks have had immense impact on us.

it is a vicious cycle.in some situtaions the economy of the nation falls down, which in turn leads to inflation and other economic scenarios which prove to be unfruitful for the people.

To answer your question of whether or not you have answered the prompt -- not really. You have chosen an issue of importance, sure enough, but you haven't really explained its significance to you or to your community. You don't seem to have a particularly coherent view of the issue itself, in fact. How exactly do you think the government should respond to incidents such as the Mumbai terror attacks? You mention several responses that you don't support, but say virtually nothing about what you think the government should do. More to the point, how do you think the attacks affected Mumbai, India, the world? What lessons can we draw from the incident? From our reaction to it? Also, you seem to contradict yourself at points. At the moment, the closest thing to a theme in your essay is that people are too quick to condemn and criticize, a stance that is itself both condemnatory and critical. Overall, I'd say you need to take a second shot at this, focusing on being more reflective and thoughtful.

I agree with Sean. Also, this topic is a bit to controversial and it might be risky talking about it now. You never know who will end up reading the essay.
