A. NYU's global network provides students with hundreds of academic areas of interest for students to cultivate their intellectual curiosity and to help achieve their career goals. Whether you are entirely undecided about your academic plans or you have a definitive program of study in mind, what are your own academic interests? Feel free to share any thoughts on any particular programs or how you might explore those interests at NYU on any of our campuses.
Almost 14 years have passed and I still remember vividly the day when I first held the crayons. That momentous day remains the trigger of a chain reaction that somehow results in my decision to follow Visual Arts. People cannot expect me to do Math problems for many hours but if asked, I can sit in front of the canvas painting all day long. To me, nothing is more captivating and enjoyable than producing a piece of art. Thus, choosing NYU Abu Dhabi, in my ideology, is the perfect decision. What is better than being accepted to a school, which is situated at a place that possesses such unique architecture and culture? Not only can I observe every corner of the Middle East's jewel but I can also widen both my intellectually and more importantly, artistic horizon. At NYUAD, besides learning theoretically, I even get the chance to put my talents and knowledge into practice. Consequently, nothing can be compared to that thrilling experience.
B. What intrigues you? Tell us about one work of art, scientific achievement, piece of literature, method of communication, or place in the world (a film, book, performance, website, event, location, etc.), and explain its significance to you.
"Love"- it is just a four-letter word but possesses transcending meaning. It appears in numerous media universally and has such a noticeable impact. In my case, I get extremely sentimental whenever I watch a beautiful love story. "Hana Yori Dango" definitely holds that title. To put it simply, it is about a poor high school girl whose will is strong enough to change a spoiled master from an aristocrat family and her surrounding. They fall in love and overcome multiple hardships such as their different statuses and interference of outside forces. I was nearly in tears when the female protagonist decided to sacrifice her feeling so that her lover can become the CEO despite their longing to be together. To others, this plot may seem cliché and unoriginal. However, I think through the wonderful acting abilities of Japanese talents, the film has captured numerous applauses and hearts. Never before have I seen any film, which moves me as much as "Hana Yori Dango". Thanks to the masterpiece, I somehow get the feelings what "love" is. It is like a fig. When one is cut in half, each takes the shape of a heart. That is why its bittersweetness is referred to as the flavor of love. Thus, in order to obtain a happy ending, things must be sacrificed.
