If I had the opportunity to come up with an organization I would definitely establish a video editing club, since it one of my favorite activities in my free time .The idea behind video editing is half passion and half technique. Video editing is more than just editing...it is creating a story, creating a vision that forces the audience to forget they have peripheral vision.
I think it would be a great idea because video editing opens doors to social community. The accomplishment felt after the video is done is absolutely indescribable, yet the happiness when the audience sees is even more breathtaking
Since grade 9 year I have been part of the yearbook team and the senior video team .When I walk into the computer lab, I hear computers humming, editors delegating, and passion being involved. The video editing lab is the place where I dwell, where I can go into my sweet spot and thrive. I have learned how to use various computer applications from Photoshop to Sony Vegas pro and I am willing to teach their usage to whoever is interested.
If accepted into your institution I would continue my involvement in UC's Yearbook club. Not only have I met wonderful people through video making, but also I learned more about myself as a person. It has helped me to become more creative and taught me how to step outside the box. Like any other producer would say, the best part about it is the cast because they make the production fun.

Basil, I am not really sure that the video editing club would be the best club for you to establish in the university. Most colleges and universities, even high schools, in the United States have school sanctioned video clubs already. That club is somewhat commonplace due to the high interest of the youth in creating videos. So the schools already support those types of clubs. Your desire to establish another one won't really be that noticeable or important to the school community.
The kind of club that you should be establishing needs to be unique and uncommon. think of something that you enjoy doing that possibly, only a small section on the university population might also enjoy. Think about an activity that could possibly be disenfranchised at a university. If possible, look into the extra curricular activities, organizations, and clubs offered by the university you wish to attend. Find a club that does not exist there, which you know would be quite popular if it existed and then think about establishing that kind of club.
After you identify the least represented activity, develop the objective for the club and then place the ideas into an essay narrative format. Make sure that you present a convincing stance regarding the importance of the club in the development and enjoyment of the students. Close it by acknowledging that while it may be difficult to establish, you are willing to do the work to make it a reality.
They essay is trying to test your work ethic and leadership skills by asking you to develop an activity from scratch. So representing how you will follow through on the idea is very important to this essay.
Basil, I agree that the club you would like to establish in the university is something that interests the students, but is this the club that will draw more participants or they have similar clubs to choose from?, the likely answer is yes, they will have the same club you have in mind, as video creation and programming is very well appreciated these days specially with the advent of social media and the stronger arm of technology that is reaching the youth quiet very well.
The club that you should try to pitch to the university should not only be unique or uncommon, it should also be something within the interest of the student.
Think of the things that you as a student is missing this days, don't you miss those times when the technology is like the UFO of science?, what I'm saying is, try to think of something that will drive interest as well as bring the old days, because the old days is part of our past.
As you are part or your interest lies on video editing and media in general, you can have a movie club that shows the 1900 movies if there is, I'm not really sure and from here, you can drive discussions, forums and projects that will show the evolution of media as a whole.
