We all make choices, some easy and some not so easy, most choices depend on how we perceive the world and the people around us. The decision to go to College is, in itself, a difficult decision as choosing which college (at least it was for me).
Growing up as a child not knowing the value of education (not until I was in my 10th grade) I never really thought about college. I was less interested in academics and more interested in what my peer groups loved: Music. I held musician in high esteem and made a couple of them my role model: I wanted to be just like the rap artists I saw on television. I was most fascinated by their success; it never had anything to do with a college education. Most of them for example like the rags-to-riches story of a lone guitarist who wrote a great song and made it big overnight, but never got past the 10th grade? These stories (however shallow they may be) hinted me that a college education isn't a necessary step towards good fortune (4 years, or simply overnight? The choice is simple for some people!). What I did not acknowledge is that even though anything is possible, nothing is definite and without a college education, the word nothing receives much emphasis.
Since after my 9th grade, I have learned that where I end up in life is not as important as the person I become through the journey of life. I choose to apply to the University of Central Florida because I know UCF will prepare me for my transition into the real world, significantly educate me and allow me to become ethically and socially responsible in utilizing my knowledge in pursuit of a better community and applying my innate and acquired skills to the task of helping others in this world.
The University of Central Florida has a diverse and exciting global environment in which to study. I derive success often by creating a balance between my social and academic life and I like to be around new things and ideas, which I believe the University of Central Florida could provide for me. From French Club to International Student Association to the German Club, there's a little bit of everything. The student life at the University of Central Florida is most idea for me.
During my years at The University of Central Florida, i hope to go beyond just receiving an education in a facility where education is highly valuable and intellectual thoughts prosper but thrive to contribute and make a mark in The University and the world, contribute to the society and make a difference.
