I'd love if you guys could give me some advice about my essay. I am an international student so I don't quite know whether my grammar is correct and my topic is clear enough. Thank you!
- Essay 1: In an essay of 300 words or less, please discuss your academic interests and/or professional goals. Major: Clinical Psychology
I still clearly remember that day, when I was led into the small room by the psychology teacher and sat down at the table, going to carry out an unfamiliar activity called the Sandplay. I thought that this game was just a swash, believing that nothing can be seen from me placing those psychological items. But an hour later, I almost froze in chair, shivering as if I was walking in a wintry day, naked. The situation of my mind was shown to my teacher without reservation. A question rushed into my mind: Will psychology help read others' mind?
The answer to the question became a kind of fatal attraction to me, arousing my interest towards psychology for the first time. I joined the psychology association of my senior high in hopes of knowing more details. During the two-years learning in the psychology association, I reached out the world of many famous psychologists, such as Freud, Carl Jung Gustav, and searched for knowledge from every tiny aspect. With permission, I used the pattern others made during the Sandplay, trying to analyze their mental situation. With the instruction of my tutor, I even tried to give psychological counseling for my classmates. When they came to me with sadness, I always tried my best to make them became spunky again. I gradually found the answer to my previous question: Psychology could be a tool to help sound out others intention, but what was valuable was that those theories could be used to liberate people form psychological diseases. I was finally aware of my academic interest-Clinical Psychology.
To me, clinical psychology is both fascinating and rewarding. The combination of treating and understanding made me want to choose it as my major, not only for career, but also for my soul.
