Hey, I despriately need any advice/editing you may have to offer. Please help!
Please tell us what you find most appealing about Columbia and why:
Albert Einstein one said that the most important part of "education is what remains after one has forgotten what one has learned in school." While all the knowledge that one gains may be important, I believe Einstein's definition of education to be more valuable.
It is my firm belief that Columbia University, in more ways than one, will be a perfect fit for me. Columbia's core curriculum requires its students to take a variety of courses, and in doing so, stimulates their education. The core allows and encourages the student to experience a variety of disciplines while maintaining the required focus on his or her respective major. This truly broadens the student's mental horizon and allows him or her to approach subjects with various perspectives, thus instilling the 'One World' concept and the understanding of the universality and multilateral application of knowledge from any one particular subject. Furthermore, I feel it allows the student to embrace and appreciate the idea that literally everything is interconnected and interdependent, and so naturally encourages the student to look for an analyze connections, building his or her inquiry skills.
I believe the understanding, appreciation, and subtle exposure to a variety of subject areas allows the metamorphosis of a complete, holistic student, seemingly ideal for any graduate or job position.
