Waterloo Computer Engineering: Reasons for choosing your program

Response: I have always had a passion for engineering and technology since I was young. Working with computers, circuits, or developing computer programs, etc is my niche. Pursuing computer & electrical engineering (ECE) will help me combine my natural interests in technology and electrical systems into a prosperous career, such as in the booming development of Artificial Intelligence (AI), comprising hardware design, software development (algorithms, coding) and advanced circuitry. I am interested in Waterloo because of its creative and entrepreneurial ecosystem, which pushes the boundaries of what is possible and creates innovations in today¿s world. Specifically, Waterloo offers valuable opportunities, including co-op, WE Accelerate, Velocity, and Capstone Design, which I am eager to join as it will help me combine my electronics, software, and AI passion/skills and kickstart my career.

I would avoid referencing "since I was young" in this case. Most reviewers tend to see such references as exaggerations and ignore such references. It would be better if you provide a clearer educational goal for yourself. Do not focus solely on Artificial Intelligence. Be general in focus. Artificial Intelligence is not the best reference point right now because of the questions surrounding its validity and acceptability in the field. Try to give a general reference. Have a general interest in computer engineering. Do not paint yourself into a niche zone. That is what AI is considered at the moment so it is best to avoid being too identified with it. Pick the Waterloo programs that you are truly interested in and discuss it, do not just enumerate them. That does not tell the reviewer anything about how it will help your learning process.
