It has been said, "Not everything that is learned is contained in books". Compare and contrast knowledge gained from experience with knowledge gained from books. In your opinion, which source is more important? Why?
Answer:
It has been said, "Not everything that is learned is contained in books". In my opinion, this is true.
Firstly, books are contained a huge of knowledge and they are great source of information, too. A person in his lifetime cannot experience everything, but by reading a book on a particular subject he can gain knowledge about that subject in a little time. However, knowledge gained from books are just still theoretical and it could not apply in real life sometimes. Through experience, all of knowledge are useful and it is things we got from actual life.
Secondly, experience is things we have done and got from our tasks, so all of them is meaning full. As a programmer, I got a lot of rules of code through books, syntax and examples and I have to remember too much. It is still not enough. I have to apply code in real project and this step is the most important. I have got many errors and problems that need to solve. After that, I could select the best choice for my coding. So if I just read book I don't know what are the best choices for my coding and I have to remember a lot of things. The more I get experience, the more my tasks are easier. Moreover, many skills and knowledge can only be learned through practical experiences. You cannot learn swimming by just reading from books how to swim. You have to go to the pool and jump into it. Experience is the best way to develop your personal abilities.
Thirdly, knowledge have learnt from experience will stay in our memory a long period of time. There is a book that take a little time for reading but we need long time, maybe very long time to apply and get experience from it. The conclusion, we could draw things from practical experience instead of accepting the conclusion draw in the book by author.
So in my opinion, knowledge can be gained both by reading books and by experience but the knowledge gained through experience is more important.
