In the country I lived in, people would gather together to celebrate the passing of the Chinese new year, and there are plenty of interesting traditions to follow, which is rather fun and, most important of all, the meaning of it.

During Chinese New Year, everyone would try their best to go back to the old houses where their parents live before the last day of lunar calendar, and make it for the family reunion dinner, there meals serving at that night must have some good meanings in them, most of them have the similar sound with fortunate words.

After the feast, the elders in the family would have their red envelopes prepared, and the kids would gather, sincerely say something to wish their beloved elder healthy, wealthy, long -lived and happiness, then they would get their red envelopes, which contains their lucky money. It is said you should keep them under your pillow, and they would keep you lucky and safe for a whole year.

After an joyful night, while adults go to bed and have some sleep, their children keeps awake very late, sometimes even the whole night, why was that? It is said that on this day, children stays up at night is a way to keep their loving ones long-lived, which is quite becomes a perfect excuse for kids to not to sleep and have fun with their siblings all night long.

In the period of Chinese New Year, people would frequently visit their friends and relatives, which helps people to connect, though we often been too busy to have chats with them, it's a great chance to keep relationships stronger.

Every year I expect the coming of Chinese New Year. Growing up in a small family in the city, these kinds of event always make me happy, it reminds me how lucky I am to have so many loving family members, and I really think foreign people can try to live this once.

Seth, I must say, I share your love for the Chinese New Year celebration. It's one of those festivities that I enjoy a lot. The sights and sounds, the dragon dance, the sticky treats, the lucky charms, all of this is just amazing. Indeed, this celebration should be shared to everyone and be witnessed by everyone. It's not only a festival, it's a tradition, a tradition that should be passed on to generation.

Now, going back to your essay, it's written well. I just hope that you can write more, elaborate your ideas and go far with your writing. The Chinese New Year is a celebration worth writing about.

Keep writing

Cheers!!!

This is well written, and gives the reader a clear picture.

However, I think you should condense some of it.

during the Chinese new year...

You should use a transitional phrase to start your second paragraph.

SUGGESTION: To start, during the new year.

You don't need to keep reminding thereader its the Chinese holiday. It was in the intro, and you could vary this.

After a joyful night...

You could combine this and the next paragraph, as they both talk about relatives.

So, add transitional phrases to start your body paragraphs, and condense some of your word choices, as you repeat yourself.

Otherwise, the punctuation is good, as is the form and grammar. Just combine the two paragraphs I mentioned, to use the classic five paragraph essay!

A good start!
