By the end of 1700s, Philip Astley, an Englishman, had held the first modern circus, while he exhibited a spectacular stunt riding on horse back. Then, Philip also showed the other entertainments like clowns, acrobatics and trained animal shows. In the early 1800s, the popularity of circus started to emerge in United State. Joshua Brown founded the circus tent in 1825 and utilized it to travel around city to city. What we know as a circus today is adapted from brown's circus.
