From that time to 1999, all three groups witnessed an upward trend. Notably, inbound tourist arrivals with the intention of recreation reached a peak of approximately 10 million.
Throughout the period of 5 years from 1999 to 2004, while the amount of visitors coming for leisure purposes underwent a dramatic fall, the opposite was true for people going on visiting acquaintances trips, which was almost twofold. On the contrary, the trends of these groups were reversed in the next 5 years. Meanwhile, the remaining group leveled out at around the number of 7 million.
