The Virtual World Games
There are people says that playing games teaches us about life. Some say it's true, and some say it is not. In my opinion, the statement is true. Despite everyone used to have the thought that games - offline or online - have bad influence (especially to the young generations), there are some good points and advantages which only the players can be able to see. For instance, small games or "the just for fun" kind of games are very helpful to us. By playing them, we can actually release stress after a hard working day, or we can find a little happiness when playing with our friends. However, those small games can't really show the full positive influence to life about which we're discussing. The bigger picture is shown in MMORPG (Massively multiplayer online role-playing game), in which a very large number of players interact with one another within a virtual game world. The question is: how is it possible that we can learn something about life from such virtual world?
There are so many things to consider. The game world is like a small real life society (even though it's not as harsh) in which every player is a citizen. The game system itself would automatically classify everyone's social position. If you want to thrive and get a head, you have to work hard. That's the rule. Moreover, the game's environment requires lots of group works if you want to get "exquisite items" or "endgame gears" (very powerful items that can help you outshine other people) from doing missions. However, they are not easy to do even with a group of dozen of people, let alone doing by yourself. Likewise, life is full of ups and downs, and working hard to make life better is something we need to do. Sometimes we need to stick together to overcome any sticks and stones holding us back. Playing games is really related to that, isn't it? Furthermore, games which require us to use our brain to solve problems such as: financing, arranging, buying, selling or even making a business... are also very practical and are chances for us to practice before applying them to our real life. Besides, you can also learn about the right way to treat other people, how to get along with everybody in your clan or legion. Aren't those things important in life? It is true that there are some negative issues or even tragedies derived from games. However, we can't deny that games really can teach us about life. As a current gamer of a famous MMORPG myself, I hope these words will reach anyone who still have a very negative perspective about games.
