Since November 2016, the capital city of Papua, Jayapura, has experienced day-to-day of 4 to 6 hours blackouts because they only had electricity storage gap up to 15 megawatts per day. This routine blackouts were prompted by several technical problems, affecting 110,000 households in Jayapura. Even though Papua have a hydro power turbine which has an electricity capacity of 2 x 10 MW in Orya Genyem, it cannot solve the routine blackouts problem due to issues with a numerous components.
