Letters / IELTS Writing Task 2: Do you think the laws are needed to make people recycle? [4]
Some People claim that not enough of the waste from home is recycles. They say that the only way to increase recycling is for governments to make it a legal requirement.
To what extent do you think laws are needed to make people recycle more of their waste?
In a modern society, more and more products are produced which are not able to be recycled. Discussion about whether the law is needed from government to enhance the amount of recycling since the individual practice is not enough. From my perspective, I agree the idea that government should involve and minimize the global warming caused by unrecycled goods.
The first reason is obvious, business creates hundred times of trashes every day compared to the individual. If we can have a law to enforce from business to household, the result would be more efficient and significant. Secondly, not only the trashes, the materials of products which business provides to customers are also related to the environment. For example, many drinks or milk shops offer plastic bags to customers for free that increase lots of wasted bags that only for one-time usage. If we implement the law to ban the free plastic bags or encouraging shops to use paper bags, it can save lots of unnecessary waste.
Even more, law can help not only individual or business but also the whole society can aware of it and improve all together. From the news on television, advertisements around the streets and educations from schools, families, business, more and more people can practice, implement the recycling as their daily routine.
In conclusion, I agree it's not enough for only the household or individual to do the recycling of wastes, adding the help from government to make it a legal requirement will definitely create a bigger impact to the world.
