Writing Feedback / TOEFL: We will face a beautiful and peaceful life if we treated each other politely [2]

There is a saying in Arabic "Nations are their manners, if they lost them they will lost their self's". we can see that there is a great growth in earth population, this uncontrolled growth will cause of decreasing the social relationships among people. Im supporting the idea that says people should keep the polite behavior with others and supporting this idea by the following points.

First Point, manners help defining the relationship among people and help spreading spirit of cooperation. Lets take an example like if you have a neighbor and he/she treats you politely you would treat him the same way and that will help to build a trusted relationship among those people.

Second Point, Polite behavior helps people defining their rights and duties, since when I know that my rights end when others rights begins will reduce the spreading of problems. The reductions of problems will cause in increasing the positive treatment among people and spread love and peace among them.

In conclusion, we will face a beautiful and peaceful life if we treated each other politely. And since we treat others politely we will face the same treatment in return.

Writing Feedback / TOEFL : Television distances friends and family from us [2]

As we all know that human nature is to live in societies and keep close to other peoples, in other words human nature defines his life to be in groups and exchange knowledge and experience with them. In the last two decades a lot of technological machines were invented to make life much easier on humans. One of these instruments is TV sets, which was created to shortage the distances between natures, so you can know what is going on a far areas while you are sitting on your sofa. At the first stage of TV sets there were few families who could have such machine, so it can be considered to meet human nature by making people close to each others.

In the last decade television spread to be found on every house, this spread destroyed the idea of socialism idea, so every family stayed at their home watching news, movies, TV shows and so on. All the old habits families used to do with their friends start dying, limited visits; only on occasions, limited phone calls, and a lot of old habits like sharing dinner table or making a journey, all these habits was killed by the spread of TVs.

One other thing to be mentioned regarding television and their bad effects on families, I can say that there also another bad effect among the family members itself, so we can see that each member of the family would prefer to watch his own TV show, this would make problems among the family members, or in the wost case each member would have his own television, and this much worst since it will make gapes among family members and kills the idea of family

On conclusion, what is invented to help the humanity is actually killing its nature, but if we control our time on television and make some time to spend it with friends; TVs will be the greatest invention ever.

Research Papers / Research Objective - Fulbright (Computer Science) [NEW]

Research Objectives

Mohanad Mattahen, Palestine, Computer Science

Middle East went under many revolutions during a lot of Revolutions during the last 20 years; however, unfortunately, none of these revolutions did take place in the field of Information Technology. any large businesses still depend on excel sheets although there are much more sophisticated IT applications and solutions available to handle such business tasks more efficiently and conveniently. Except for some financial applications that were built during 1990s. IT applications do not show any progress in my part of the world. These financial applications had a lot of modifications to be as it is today. Can you imagine that many government organizations are still with manual processes? yes; almost all the government organizations use paper and old archiving systems that rely on shelves on Dewey decimal classification. During the last decade many small computer companies were established to build software solutions that would help the Palestinian institutions manage and run their own businesses in a more professional manner, However, these companies is poor to technology and software developers who has the program mentality, so if some organization asks for a software - let us say to manage orders - they will a develop a solution specific for this company that can't fit any other company. So when another organization needs a software that has some of the features founded on the pervious mentioned software they will develop a new solution and so on, and if the time for development took the company to develop the last solution about two months then the other application will cost them about two months too. This is a waste of time its cause is the less of knowledge founded on the Palestinian software development market.

Programming Mentality, it is the sense of programmer to develop something new, something helpful reduces waste of time and helps him to reduce development time, it also give him the ability to get used of other solutions developed by him- reusability. If we take a general look at the most world countries that has revolutions on Information Technology side we can find that the US "United States" is at the top of the list. Palestinian graduated developers needs some help to start the motivation engine in their minds. I do believe that Palestinian students have the ability to invent something new, but on the other hand they need guiding, they need some people or institute that motivate their minds, helps them to open their eyes on the new technologies founded and how to get used of it.

I learned a lot during my work experience, I found my own way, and I started thinking in different way, but If I found someone who could target my thinking into one specific direction it would not took me too much time to start thinking differently. I worked for many companies as a software developer. This experience helped me to focus my desire to invent something new into one specific direction, on Enterprise Solutions, since these solutions is needed in many different fields, it is complicated which means much time for development. So my I was looking to develop something new, something that can help creating Enterprise solutions on a very small period of time instead of taking years sometimes. The motivation in this solution is that no need for developers, an ordinary person can start building his own application without any help. It took me 2 years to start thinking in different way. Imagine if I had someone who could find my strength and weakness and target my passion to the right side. What would be the status of our Information Technology Market? For sure it would be better. That why I'm looking to be awarded the Fulbright.

If I awarded the Fulbright, I will concentrate on studying the new technologies founded on US, studying the Information Technology Market, what are the new technologies founded and how it helps the US Organizations? So if it was that helpful for the US Organizations imagine how much it will be helpful for Palestinian Market.

Undergraduate / 'Enterprise solutions and computer science' Personal statement Essay for Fulbright [2]

Personal Statement

Mohanad Mattahen, Palestine, Computer Science

Recently, a college of mine from at UNDP/PAPP asked me how I would describe myself. This is not a simple question. To begin, I can describe myself as a person who opened his eyes to find himself surrounded by a very sweet family that care about him; I was born on 23rd of November 1983 in Jenin Camp. Where I spent all of my life. It was a great life of all the difficult conditions a Palestinian family faces, especially in a refugee camp. One may ask, what is the difference? Well, this difference is that, in camp life, one need to struggle meeting almost every human need including the basics such as food, shelter, education, health care etc. Life there is indeed far from even average living standards. However, all these challenges, in a way, helped me grow up as a person faster than my age in terms of maturity, responsibility, reliability, endurance etc. And more than everything, camp life nurtured my determination and perseverance with which I stood up to show the world that even in these extremely difficult conditions, people can still have the capability to pursue their dreams.

Until the beginning of 21st century computers were treated as luxury in Palestine and only the wealthy families could afford them. It was the year 2002 that I first interacted with a computer while I was in college and until such time I had a very faint idea about what they looked like and how they functioned. I saw it was faster than anything I had ever seen and I wanted to know how it works. In no time they replaced my interest in other technical appliances and devices (Radio, TV , Video players etc.) which I loved to fix from my childhood days that earned my nick name, "Mechanic". With the advent of this new passion of mine, I was determined that I would pursue a career in Information Technology in future no matter what obstacles come my way. This is why I entered Computer Information Technology Faculty by 2002 in which it concentrate on software development, and developing software solutions. In college I a lot of software development languages and tools such as C++, Java etc. and moved into developing internet applications after completion of college. I was successful in that field because of my passion to learn, It was my intention to fulfill my graduation requirements quickly so that I could develop real applications that serves people and communities.

I finished my Studies in February 2006. Since then, I have worked for three companies to date, which forms six years of experience. These six years helped me a lot in learning new skills and acquiring practical knowledge that cannot be taught in school. I learned commitment, accountability, reliability and how to be an effective member of a team.

At the beginning of my work life I had a problem with managing how to deal with huge numbers of requests at the same time. Experience taught me how to do this. Today, I have the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time and deliver the required work on deadline.

In conclusion, coming back to the question: How I would describe myself? What I thought was a difficult question, actually is not that complicated. I am someone who has always been inquisitive and has thrived on learning - especially when it can be linked to practical application for making things work better and providing solutions. I am someone who respects the human spirit and appreciates what it is like to have aspirations and dreams and the desire for them to come true. I am someone who will work hard and give 100% effort to make things that I am committed to happen.
