Letter of Self-Introduction
Ho Chi Minh City, 25th February, 2016
Dear Admission Committees,
In my first undergraduate year, I did not live my life. I existed. I was lost in the class and completely in crisis for boring general subjects of International Economic Relations. My performance was poor with no impressive grades and no social activities. I kept wondering: Is it my passion to live? Should I choose another major?...Such questions crept into my mind until one day I wandered the central library and stumbled across one book titled "So good so that they can't ignore you" by Cal Newport. The message from the author awakened me. The problem does not lie in the major - passion comes after I put in the hard work to become excellent at something valuable, not before. Back to high school, I had been an outstanding student in a famous gifted high school in my hometown and dreamed of being a busineswoman, I was always working hard and scientifically to get profound academic background and high achievements as they are valuable prerequisites. I did it. Although the studying atmosphere was highly competitive; at the end of grade 12, I strived to come second in academic ranking based on my 3-year performance and high school graduation examination (58.5/60). I was also the only student chosen to attend regional English competition. In 2011, I was on top of those sitting the university entrance exam to Business Major in Binh Duong province.

Folding the book up, I know the reason why I started my journey. Being the best student with on-hands experiences and interpersonal skills would be a firm benchmark for my further education and work. The more I dig deep into my major, the more I am passionate into it. I continued my efforts in studying and obtained the top highest GPA upon the whole major. I was honored with the Study Encouragement Scholarship five times at UEL, which was granted to 10 best students out of nearly three hundred ones for each semester. Beyond my excellent academic record, I also took part in numerous extra-curricular activities to build up exceptional and qualified personalities. Knowing that English would be a useful means of communication to do business, I decided to master English and get an honored international certificate within eight months. Being awarded the First Prize in UEL English competition, I was selected as a leader of the most favored Vietnamese English community with more than 125 thousand followers and a proactive member of Youth Union, I organized and cooperated events for students, which helped me to earn multiple skills in organization, inspiration and leadership. Last year, I was accepted as the unique speaker representing Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City to join the Educational Forum and Young Speaker Contest 2015 organized by AUN and ASEAN+3 network in Malaysia. And I did not know that I fell in love with Korea from the sharing of "Education - Economy - Education" circle from a Korean student in this trip.

Came into the third year, I had more opportunities to learn more about Korean international investment and trade and got a deeper understanding of the shared circle. I were actually impressed by its striving from its best to become better. Renowned companies such as Samsung, LG, Postco and Lotte have become so familiar with Vietnamese. It really got me thinking: why there is such a country that can take a huge leap and become a developed one so fast? I strongly believe that these secrets lie on education. Korea is the country that the slogan "Knowledge is Power" is too good to be true. Korea not only can bring the country back from the darkest times, but also invest in other countries to support their development by equipping young generations with an advanced mixture of Eastern and Western education system, well-trained professors and course structure in aligment with real working pratices. All above experiences, along with vivid cultural traditions and industrial lifestyle, have led my decision to pursue higher education in Korea. After graduation, I became a Management Trainee for Global Leadership Program of the world leading labeling company, and had Lean Immersion Training in China. During my working time, my future goals and interests in International Economics and Korea have been formed more clearly and affirmed strongly. While I am more mature and grown up, I recognized that I need more solid academic background to fully success in my career path, and Korean Government Scholarship Program For Graduate Degrees completely fits my situation and challenging personalities.

I firstly appreciate KGSP in terms of enabling potential students completely indulge their learning and dedication into achievements toward themselves and society by covering related expenses. I know that many Vietnamese students have to give up the dream of studying abroad due to financial insecurity, and this scholarship helps us to open the door to dreams closer. Secondly, I can image that KGSP creates a wide network of international students coming from various backgrounds and qualifications for me to make more friends and enhance mutual understanding of cultures, life experiences and learning methods. One more reason that pushes me to apply for KGSP is the challenges and opportunities that KGSP brings to candidates. While I can learn Korean language and culture in one year, my challenge is to gain a definite level to continue the scholarship and overcome other challenges 2 academic years afterwards. Another distinct advantage provided to go for KGSP is that emerging Vietnamese market and big Korean cooperations are currently attracting overseas graduates with various job opportunities. I believe that it will be a huge competitive advantage for me to hold my Master study with this honorable scholarship. All the knowledge acquired, ideas adopted and contacts made during the course would effectively assist my future profession and contribute to the growth of my home country.
