Describe, in less than 300 words, an exceptional achievement that highlights your academic and CCA interests that would be of value to the NTU community.
My ICT teacher took the microphone and made an announcement that dissipated the boredom of the morning school assembly. "The president of Egypt has launched a new initiative targeting Secondary-School First-Year Students who are interested in learning the future skill - programming." My ICT teacher said. Fortunately, I perfectly met the requirements for this program, and I got accepted among other 1200 students from all over Egypt.
We were told that the first 400 students who successfully complete the first learning track will be given cash prizes in addition to grants for advanced learning tracks. This initiative was my perfect chance to pursue my passion without having to worry about my financial ability, so there was no way I'm letting this opportunity slip away. I studied day and night till I completed the track of 3-4 months in 2 weeks. Before this experience, I didn't know that my persistence could yield such amazing results.
One week after I completed the course, an official invite to the building of the ministry of ICT was awaiting me in my inbox. There, I and the other students managed to meet the ICT minister personally and discuss some issues. One thing we discussed is the flaws of the new Egyptian education system after it has been, for the first time, semi-digitized in 2018 (Each student received a tablet containing learning materials and means of communication with teachers.). We talked about the gaps that enabled some students to go online while examinations and cheat. It took only a few weeks that a new update for the tablets was implied and the exact gabs that I mentioned back in the ministry building were eliminated!
Having gained entrepreneurial and digital experience through that initiative, I decided that this experience must be put to good use. I designed an application that would help Civil engineers with counting vehicles to find road density. I designed that app to replace the paper-based counting process, and it was really helpful.
Now, I hope to take a new adventure In Singapore and be a part of NTU community that will enhance and develop my abilities and equip me with the tools to be a productive, helpful active member of my society.
