The scholarship question:
Describe your intended plan of study and the kind of job you plan to seek on return to xyz country.
My answer
The harsh effect of poverty and unemployment heightened by the present economic recession has become alarming in xyz. The growing poverty among rural dwellers has caused increased rural-urban drift, which has compounded the present loss of jobs in the cities due to the recession.
The problem of youth's unemployment and rural poverty has indeed become a national crisis. The xyz government both at the Federal, State and Local level has redoubled efforts through the Ministry of Labour and its agencies especially the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) to combat the menace of unemployment and poverty within the society. One of such commendable policy is the creation of the Y-Power programmes targeted to train Youths who are graduates in skill acquisitions scheme; and also emphasis being placed on Skill Acquisitions in rural communities to stem rural-urban drift.
In the stride to save the economy from recession and avoid looming depression, job creation has become the most important policy of the present political administration. The government through the Minister of labour has outlined her plans to create over five hundred thousand (500,000) jobs in zzx through skill acquisition. However, the emphasis and targets of the programme are towards the Youths who are graduates from tertiary institutions and rural dwellers.
As a xyz, who has seen the negative effect of unemployment ravaging the country, it has become imperative for me to join the government in the fight against rural poverty and graduate unemployment. And I believe that I can effectively contribute in the aspect of policy making through a postgraduate knowledge and practical skill in zxy (course).
It is a fact that a government striving for development should place emphasis on comparative study of the economy of other nations. And I believe that if I am considered for the scholarship position, it will provide an avenue for me to develop and consolidate my comparative administrative knowledge in the field of xxz (course) which I have acquired in my first degree to contribute to national development.
My objective during the course of my study will be to focus on administrative policies that have created jobs in the country of my study. The policies adopted and implemented that have halve rural poverty and unemployment in such country will be the knowledge I will strive to acquire in the pursuit of my degree. I will also strive to develop knowledge on how to advance and modernise existing skill acquisition centers and programmes in rural communities in order to encourage participation.
Upon the conclusion of my study, I will return to zxy to seek employment with the Ministry of Labour and its agency of National Directorate of Employment (NDE) in order to help develop policies which will focus on job creation through skill acquisition with in the country.
Finally, I believe the knowledge I will acquire from the study will enable me to design and implement job creation programmes that will promote employment, poverty reduction and wealth creation in xyz both for graduates and rural dwellers.
