My dream is to study and live in Korea
Bringing in my love for Korean art and culture through the movies or music that I heard and watched as a child, I gradually formed a dream of studying and living in this beautiful country. Besides, I also feel that this country is a place that promotes creativity and individual freedom, creating conditions for people to develop to their fullest potential. Therefore, my admiration and love for Korea led me to decide that I would study abroad in this country with a professional learning environment and a free lifestyle. After graduating from high school, I have continuously searched for scholarships that are suitable for me with the desire to bring me closer to the opportunity to study and work in Korea. I have read a lot of good reviews and comments about the education system of this country from Korean international students on forums, websites, and social networks. At the same time, I also consulted some of my predecessors, who said that the training method of universities and colleges in Korea is a combination of teaching methods with theory and practice. effective. And thanks to that, I was fortunate to accidentally know the GKS Korean government scholarship in 2023. I was born and raised in a family that is not very well off, so my dream is to study in university and beyond. After all, being in another country is not an easy thing. GKS Korea government scholarship is a very good opportunity for me to study at universities in Korea with a practical learning environment to reach my dream closer. Moreover, it is also a way to help me promote my thinking ability as well as creativity with my favorite major - multimedia, because I know well that Korea is a famous country in the world for training in this field.
I studied and graduated from Vo Truong Toan High School - the top 20 schools with the highest entrance standards in Ho Chi Minh City in recent years. To be honest I'm not that great at natural block subjects. However, my strong point and something that I am always proud of is the ability to think and absorb quickly in social science subjects such as Literature, English, history, etc. In school, I always focus on studying with practicing, my GPA is always in the top 5 of my class. Moreover, I have a high self-study ability, I studied Korean by myself and completed the elementary program 1 and 2 within 1 month. I can read and write quite well but because there is no favorable environment to practice, I am weaker in listening and speaking ability. Therefore, I also firmly believe that the GKS Korean government scholarship will be the most valuable opportunity to promote my ability to self-study, think and practice. To be honest, my parents always wanted me to study business administration, however, I myself have a burning passion for writing, creating content or promoting and advertising. information. That's one of the reasons why I chose multimedia as my favorite major. When we were still studying at school, in literary lessons, when the teacher asked us to make short films or reports. I was always the most excited person and was in charge of the concept, editing, and also the director. Knowing my small passion, when I was 16 years old, my mother bought me a laptop for the convenience of "amateur filmmaking". I used that laptop as a learning tool, to satisfy my personal interests, as a companion to help me create videos, for my literary projects when I was in high school. Although the family's financial condition is not good, but my parents always try to do their best to take care of their children's education, that's why I always try to study well.
In 2020, I had the opportunity to participate in the Korean Culture Week jointly organized by the Korean Cultural Center in Vietnam to promote the cultural beauty and tourism potential of the two countries. Around the time the event was held, I had the chance to learn more and more new things about Korean culture, food, K-pop or even Korean education and people. My excited face kept smiling during the time I was guided by the demonstrator to explain more knowledge about the country that I had only seen on television before. Until now, I still can't forget the mild spicy taste on the tip of my tongue when I tasted kimchi for the first time. And this trip also helped me further confirm that Korea is the country that I wish to study, be my destination, the starting point of my dream journey. After this experience, I returned home and started creating my own v-log about what I went through on this trip. And it was also at that moment that I was sure majoring in communication was the major I wanted to study and pursue. I call this experience "꿈의 시작" (the beginning of a dream) . According to my research, by the year 2022, the relationship of maintaining friendship and establishing Vietnam-Korea relations will mark its 30th anniversary. Along the time line through many ups and downs, the friendly cooperation between the two countries is increasingly connected. In 2014, male singer Thanh Bui collaborated with the top K-pop boy band BTS on the song "Danger", which helped bring the name of BTS and their music as well as K-pop closer to an international audience, especially the Vietnamese audience. EBS television station with the program World Theme Travel has also brought the image of "banh da cua"(crab cake) - one of Vietnam's traditional dishes to global viewers as well as more Korean people. With the dream of studying and learning more about Korea, I firmly believe that the multimedia major that I choose will help me to bring the image of my country to the public as well as bring pictures and information about Korean education, culture, people, etc. to international friends, thereby helping to deepen mutual friendship between every country taking part in.
In my middle school years, I used to join the school's Correspondent's Club - where the students of the whole school would get the most up-to-date news. Spending time with everyone, participating in club activities as a vice president, I have learned how to lead an organization, how to resolve conflicts or build intimacy of everyone on the team. More than that, I also improved my ability to work in groups, speak, and speak confidently in front of crowds. Academically, the club's activities are mainly related to the promotion of communication directly to the students or through the club's fanpage, so I have improved the necessary skills in communication such as writing, professional photo editing, story-telling, ideation and information deployment for projects. In addition, with my own personal activities, I used to have experience in writing non-profit content for a community page on facebook with the topic REAL MEANING OF LIFE. Although it is only a small series of collaborations with the page to together create the most meaningful articles for readers. I have also really learned how to absorb opinions from comments and suggestions from readers and viewers to improve my writing skills. And during my study and work in high school, I have really become more mature. I have learned a lot of good things about the major of communication that I love, know how to take initiative in work and care. Most importantly, dare to think, take responsibility for myself for what I have done and decided.
My dream is to study and live in Korea and my dream is also to be able to express the sides of myself through the media works I create, which are deeply exploited in the topics of life to create excellent media products. Recently, I have been self-studying and researching on the subject of cinema to learn more about how to present ideas, content or express the creativity of media people. "Muoi" or "Mui ngo gai" are films built and cooperated between Vietnamese and Korean filmmakers, creating movies with impressive content to viewers, contributing to promoting the image between the two countries through cinematic media. I believe that the biggest mission and desire of a media learner like me is to bring explosive, hidden, meaningful, profound and heart-touching content to viewers, readers like this.
"There are decisions that you will have to thank yourself for in the future", I believe that I have really chosen Korea as the place where I will pursue and study multimedia communication. With what I have stated above, I am sure that I will do my best as a learner as well as build the close friendship between Vietnam and Korea.Merged:
KGSP 2023 Scholarship for undergraduate . Communication Major
When I entered a high school in the top 20 with the highest entrance standards in Ho Chi Minh City over the years, with a girl whose GPA had never left the top 5 of class in previous semesters like me, I was shocked when I found out that my score was just above normal in the first semester. Sad, cried, disappointed,... and also pressured. During the first 10th grade, I was constantly looking for new learning methods, trying to cram as much knowledge into my brain as possible. . I don't remember how many documents I actually looked up, I don't remember how many nights I stayed up until 2-3 am... but only remember that the next time I had the test, I was again not getting the rank as I expected. I had no direction for the future nor did I know what major I would study. However, once by chance a friend introduced the music of BTS - KPOP boy band for me, he advised me to listen to their music, deeply feel the message they sent through the melody, the lyrics and I would feel better. "넘어져 다치고 아파도 . 끝없이 달리네 꿈을 향해" (Even when I fall and hurt myself. I endlessly run towards my dream), these are the lyrics of the song Epilogue:Young Forever of BTS, which is also the first KPOP song I heard. Since that time, I have really been lifted up mentally, more relieved. I looked for a new learning method that really suits me, trying to get used to self-study and self-training. I gradually discovered that my strong point is the ability to think, absorb quickly in social sciences such as Literature, English, history, etc. My GPA gradually improved "in a record way" as I gradually entered the top 5 of class as before. Every night, I sit and listen to BTS's songs to get more positive energy, look for their true story that came up from nothing, which makes me even more motivated on the path of mine .
I used to be a girl with no career direction for the future, but after learning about Korea, first of all through the movies and music of their country, I started to develop a hobby of writing, creating content or promoting information. That is one of the reasons why I chose communication as a major that I will stick with in the future. When i was still studying at school, in literature lessons, when the teacher asked us to make short films or reports. During my high school years, I participated in the "Red Phoenix Flower" campaign (one of the biggest youth volunteer campaigns in Vietnam). During the time I was active and working on the team as a volunteer, I found myself changing from a girl without any life skills to a more resourceful person. I learned how to lead an organization, learned how to resolve conflicts, or bonded more closely with everyone on the team. More than that, I also improved my ability to work in groups, speak, and speak confidently in front of crowds. As a volunteer, I have learned to be more empathetic, altruistic and sharing.
