Hi, I am applying to KAIST this year and I am having troubles trying to write an acceptable essay. I would really appreciate the feedback on the essay and what I need to work on. Thanks!!

Please describe your dream and the efforts you have made so far to achieve it and your future plan for it. (within 2000 characters/300 words)
※ Please include your reason(s) for choosing KAIST in order to achieve your dream and the hardships that you expect to encounter in the process.

Coming from a country where technological advancements are still catching up to those in first world countries, countless news stories about government's websites and other technological facilities being incredibly faulty and vulnerable made global headlines, tarnishing the country's reputation. This ignited my dream to contribute to advancing my homeland's technological landscape, helping it stand on par with leading nations, and eventually expand my efforts on other nations in need.

In pursuit of my goals, I have immersed myself in activities that honed my analytical and problem solving skills such as obtaining numerous medals in math Olympiads and serving a role as a reserve member of my school's competitive programming team. In addition, I also engaged in activities aimed at giving back to the community, namely contributing to the school's Southeast Asian Service Leadership Network program, conducting free classes for peers that aim to explore the intriguing world of mathematics, and developing software in quest of providing assistance for those in need. Having experienced these activities helped me not only hone my technical capabilities but also develop my leadership and social capabilities.

Closing the gap of technological innovations between leading countries and my homeland would propose countless hurdles as it requires not only technical expertise but also teamwork, vast world view, and the ability to navigate socio-economic barriers. Therefore, enrolling in a prestigious university in a country known for its cutting-edge technology such as KAIST, I am confident that it would help me prepare and overcome these Interdisciplinary challenges. With KAIST being undoubtedly one of the best institutions within Asia and around the world, I believe that together with KAIST, my dream will be realized in the near future as I hold the view that the best way to improve is to learn with the best.

The way that you have the response set up is too generic. It is a glossed over version of the expected response to the writing guides. None of the information that you have provided helps your application to stand out. The data you included describes just about any student of the lowest abilities applying for a slot at KAIST. You need to provide more notable information about your preparation, your future goals, and the reasons why you have chosen to apply at KAIST. While you provided expected information, you have not given the reviewers any specific information that could be compared to the other applicants. The information you provide should help propel your application to the top of the application pile.

@Holt
Thankyou so much for the feedback. Seems like I got a lot to work on. Do you mind if have you look at some more attempts I made on the same prompt? If yes, Should I post it in the same thread or make a new on? You may not post a new thread on the same topic (we offer private services so you can email us at essayforum.com@gmail.com for more information).
