Prompt: The best day of my life (so far) was... Please tell a story that allows us to experience your best day
Since my birthday is in the middle of the summer what I usually do for my present is take a friend to an amusement park. My thirteenth birthday, however, was different. I would be getting a dog for my present. All the years of persistent begging to get a dog finally paid off. Walking into the backroom of the animal shelter, I was overwhelmed with the sight of about 40 dogs that were all in need of a loving home. One dog, though, caught my eye from the very beginning. She was a 4-year old black lab mix. The moment I looked at her I knew I would be taking that dog home. Upon arriving home, with my newly named dog, Gypsy, I realized taking care of a dog would be more work than I expected. It was my responsibility to walk her, feed her, clean up after her etc., but I did find the work extremely rewarding. Having my own dog taught me the aspects of responsibility, not only for myself, but for another living creature. While I was looking around at colleges I was very pleased to find that Virginia Tech has a major in veterinary science because I have the dream of one day becoming a vet. The best day of my life, so far, is my thirteenth birthday, the day I got a dog, the day I fell in loves with animals, and the day realized what I want to do with my life.
