Hi! My first language is not English so I'm trying to do my best on this essay and I really need help! Any errors (gramatically or if I'm going in the wrong direction with the essay) PLEASE tell them to me :) thanks a lot!
PS: Do these types of essays need a title if they are answering a prompt?
Considering both the specific undergraduate school or program to which you are applying and the broader University of Pennsylvania community, what academic, research, and/or extracurricular paths do you see yourself exploring at Penn?
I am the type of person that always needs something to do, somewhere to go or someone to talk to. Either I am running errands around school for the Student Council or I am taking pictures of friends as they pose for my camera during lunch break. Penn matches my personality right away by being in the middle of all the rush that the city of Philadelphia has to offer. Being from a small island in the Caribbean limits the chances of getting out of my comfort zone, but moving to one of the most historic cities in the United States is a great opportunity to expand my horizons and enrich my culture. The location was always an important factor in my college search because it would influence how I felt and fitted a university. Philadelphia offers the perfect balance between warm summers and cold winters, new people and known friends, Puertorican flavor and city life rich in diversity.
At Penn, the College of Arts and Sciences is a world of possibilities that will be essential elements, not only for my future career but for my life. Learning and understanding the diversity that exists in our planet through the study of living organisms will allow me to follow my desire of becoming a doctor. The Department of Biology offers research programs for undergraduate students that allow them to understand the process of acquiring new knowledge and gives them unique experiences that will enhance their majors. I have never done any formal research before, but I am interested in the Summer Undergraduate Internship Program that will provide me with skills necessary later on in my career. The SUIP trains the students on how to do research and the right way to present it, while enjoying the city of Philadelphia and meeting interns from other programs. I am known as the busy girl that is actively participating in different clubs and I plan to keep this image in college. Not afraid to try new things, I plan to join the ACELA and work with the Latin community outside Penn. ACAMP will allow me to reach out communities where kids do not have as many opportunities as I did and by tutoring I can encourage them to get involved in their community and their studies.
My greatest academic interest definitely is biology but photography takes a big part of my time. Photography is one of my favorite hobbies and a passion I desire to keep practicing during the four years of college. Having the option of studying photography as a minor raised even more interest in Penn. Furthermore, Penn is situated in a city full of museums, parks and activities where I can collect memories through my camera for future generations to enjoy. Philadelphia is definitely a city that has a special vibe and the lifestyle it offers is perfect for any prospective student, like me, who wants more than just an education. One of my life goals is to end up being a complete person in every aspect, emotionally, intellectually, and even physically. Penn would provide me with this college experience I wish to acquire and the education I will receive would definitely last for a lifetime.
