Through travel, students are able to experience different cultures and take advantage of new opportunities that can make our community richer when they return to campus. If you had the opportunity to travel anywhere in the world during your time at Colgate, where would you go, and why? 250w
"We'll meet in Italy" - Daniele Tavani promised me when I saw him off at Noi-bai airport. He was not only the Italian ambassador in Vietnam but also a member of Hanoi Environment Group whom I met on March meeting. We got on very well and easily because of the common interest in traveling. I was completely attracted by his story about ancient Rome, romantic Venice and Florence the city of art. It's Italy that I would choose to visit if Colgate University grants me a chance to experience different cultures. Last year, I had been to Suzhou in China which could be seen as Eastern Venice. The city is exactly the same heaven as we see in Chinese old movies. Now, I really wish that I could see the real Venice by my own eyes. There must be many interesting differences between the two cultures which I can help diverse my community. Besides, Italy's long history of mighty Roma Empire plays an important part in the world history which I can not miss. The traveling to Italy will help my major very much. History always accompanies with art and architecture. Pisa Tower is a remarkable artifact which I dream to discover. In addition, I always want to contemplate the masterpieces of the most famous adepts ever Botticelli, Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo. Italy, where my old friend is living, with its distinct culture and history, always appeals to me.
why Colgate? (500c)
Academics come first for me as my primary concern is an engaging educational environment. In addition, I'm looking for the Vietnamese community at the college. My cousin at Colgate, Tran Hoang Hiep'10 and my research told me that I can't find in any colleges a more active Vietnamese culture club than in Colgate. Staying far away from home, I may easily get homesick. In addition, I want to contribute to this club in order to introduce Vietnam to my foreign friends.
The deadline is coming, please help me!
