Question regarding the tone of an admissions essay

My prompt is: Evaluate a significant experience, achievement, risk you have taken, or ethical dilemma you have faced and its impact on you.

I'm just wondering if my essay can be comical, so long as it answers the prompt and has significance. Do they look down upon comedy, or would it be considered interesting?

If the comedy is in good taste, than yes, is would be considered interesting.

Thank you, very much! I didn't want to start an essay and then have it be completely wrong.

I would write the essay in the manner that you feel is appropriate. If you value comedy in writing, I believe you would be doing yourself a disservice to write in a serious tone. Granted, this only applies to the personal/college essay - you don't want to be accepted to a college that favors seriousness in its students and then not fit in at the college.

I like the advice in this forum. Yes, comedy is powerful persuasion. The most important thing is to catch the wave of inspiration. If you got inspired with something that was funny, then use it and take energy from is as you move on to the next paragraph.
