Writing Feedback / 'Technology and working in front of a computer is a fantastic idea' - IELTS essay [2]

Technology is making communication easier in today's world, but at the expense of personal contact as many people choose to work at home in front of a computer screen. What dangers are there for a society which depends on computer games rather than face-to-face contact for its main means of communication?

Nowadays, communication has become less difficult because of technological development. However, personal interaction is affected because many internet subscribers prefer to stay at home and use their computers as a way to communicate. This is an astonishing revolution in humankind's way of communicating, but there are also alarming effects about this such as compromise in people's health and less attachment with other human beings.

First of all, people whose custom is to work at home facing their computers risk their health by being static. These people just sit most of the time while they are working. They no longer have to move around like to walk, talk, dress-up, go up-and down the stairs, or do other things physically. Consequently, it can cause them to be obese and unhealthy; eventually, different kinds of physical illness might trigger. Lack of exercise can cause heart disease, and staying long in front of the computer can cause eye strain.

Furthermore, these people can lose personal attachment with other people like their family and friends. Because they use computers as a tool for communication, they do not have to personally interact with other human beings. Thus, their bonding with others can deteriorate.

As a conclusion, working in front of a computer is a fantastic idea as a means of communicating. On the contrary, internet users must be aware of dangerous consequences about this that could affect their health and attachment with other humans.

Speeches / 'The Two Travellers' - IELTS writing task 1 [NEW]

Writing Task 1

1. Spend no more than 20 minutes on Task 1. We recommend 15 minutes.

You have recently watched a new programme on TV. You like the programme
but have just discovered that the TV station has moved it to a later time, when
you're unable to watch it.

Write a letter to the TV station. In your letter

- Describe why you like the programme- middle
- Explain why you believe it should not be on at a later time- middle
- Say what action you would like the TV station to take- action

You should write at least 150 words. 160-170 words is recommended.

You do NOT need to write any addresses

Start your letter as follows:

Dear ...,

Dear Mr Rudolson,

I have been a regular viewer of your television channel ABS-GMA. I am writing to express dissatisfaction about the new time slot of the program, The Two Travellers. I believe it has been moved to a new time slot which does not complement the schedule of most of its viewers.

First of all, The Two Travellers television program has such a fantastic story. It is so interesting to watch, and it is also inspiring. I adore the beautiful scenes and settings of it. Most of all, the two main characters Rosy and Jack are very much admirable; they are an inspiration for couples who really love each other.

It seems to me that the idea about moving this program from 6:30 pm- 7:30 pm to 10:30 pm- 11:30 pm is disagreeable. As this is a story about couples, I can presume that viewers of this nationwide program are mostly young adolescents and adults. Just like I and my husband, most of the viewers have work the following day. Because of this, a lot of its audience would have to stay late at night just to look on for every episode. I believe that this is not a good idea because viewers have to sleep earlier than the new time slot of the program. If not, we will tire ourselves, and we can no longer function well in our work the following day.

In that case, I would like to request that the program be back to its original time slot, so it would fit the schedule of its audience. It would be a perfect time for most of its watchers to see it. Some can have dinner while others are can just relax after a long day at work while watching.

I would be very glad if you could grant my request. Alternatively, perhaps you could find other solutions to fix this issue. In case you need to contact me, you can reach me at 0978, or e-mail me at iamafan. Thank you.

Sincerely yours,

Ican Diss

Hi there! How are you? I hope you two are doing well. I'm pretty good in spite of working hard. Anyway, I'd like to say thanks for the photos and for letting me stay in your flat. Also, I'm inviting you to come and visit our place.

I'm so glad to receive the pictures today. While I was looking at the photos, I can't help myself to miss that holiday. It was such a wonderful adventure. The big smiles on our face showed that we had so much fun and excitement. And for that, I'm so grateful to have spent the holiday with you guys. Thanks much for the warm welcome during my stay and for the pictures too.

Also, you folks might wonder why I haven't written immediately after I came back here. It is because I've been so busy with my work. There were a lot of deadlines to meet, as I have such a demanding job.

Anyway, please come and visit our country, the Philippines. I'm sure you would like to experience the tropical weather and explore exotic places here.

Please keep in touch.

Writing Feedback / "things we obtain too easily, we esteem to lightly" [2]

When I was aroundabout six months old, My grandmother took something away from my mom and dad because its value couldn't even compare to their desire for something else more valueable to them. This thing my grandmother took from my parents waswere my brother and I. In my parents' eyes, drugs were more valuable thenthan their own children. Today, I'm 16 years old, and I comprehend any situation where me I or my brother aren't worth more than a feeling of being high. When I was younger, I craved that value ablevaluable love from my parents that was constantly absentI never felt in myentire life. A few words or even just a hug meant more than anything to me if it was comingwere from my parents. Even though my worth to them isn't as much as should be, I still value them and their impact on my life .

Letters / Business letter to your gift shopkeeper supplier [NEW]

You are a gift shopkeeper. Write a letter to your supplier, to let him know that you won't need the merchandise you have ordered. Explain your situation and suggest a solution.

Begin your letter as follows: Dear ___________,

Dear Mr. Wales
I am an employee of Forever Memories Store. I am writing to cancel my order for fifty boxes of dove figurines.
Last month, I made an order for several boxes of dove-shaped figurines to your store, and I was glad with your efficient service. Those figurines were supposed to be used for the wedding souvenirs of our customer. However, I have received a call from her yesterday telling me to cancel her order for the reason that their wedding is not likely to take place. Thus, we do not have to produce dove wedding souvenirs anymore, so we no longer need materials for it; that includes those fifty boxes of dove figurines I ordered from your store.

I would like to ask you to refund the down payment I made. Because of the inconvenience this has caused you, you may deduct 5% of value from the original amount I paid. Kindly reply to this letter, so we could settle the matter.

I truly apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you. I never expected such circumstance to happen. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely yours,

Miss Ican Diss

Letters / Personal letter to your business colleague about important documents you have left [NEW]

You stayed at your friends' house when you participated in a business seminar in Australia. You left a file with important documents in your room. Write a letter to your friend, describing the file and ask him/her to return it to you by post.

Begin your letter as follows: Dear Sir/Madam,

Dear Ad,

Hi there! Thanks accommodating me in your house last week. It was such a pleasure staying there. Anyway, the reason i'm writing is to ask you a favor to return my folder that I've left there.

When I left Australia last week, I forgot to bring my folder that contains important documents. I kept it in the drawer of the room where I stayed. You can easily identify it because of its brilliant color: neon green. Also, it has a brown envelope inside once you open it.

I'm asking you to please send it to me as soon possible to this address:
505 Coco Palm Avenue
Los Palmos Road
Philippines 2123

I will be the one to pay for the carrier the moment I will receive it. I'm sorry for any inconvenience this might cause you. Thanks in advance. I'll keep in touch.

Best Regards,

Bangs
