Undergraduate / How do I hope to have changed- application essay ! [3]

Hi guys!
I am an international student, and I want to apply to RISD , industrial design program. Please give me some feedback on this! Any advice will be helpful. Grammar , content , anything !

Thank you so much !

TOPIC: How do you hope to have changed at the end of your time as a RISD student ?
WORDS: 200-400

At the end of my time as a RISD student, I hope that the various obstacles I must have gone through during the years shape me into a person more readily to deal with issues and challenges faced in the world. Now that I've been prepared from an international high school student to a college student, I hope that after this huge step, overwhelmed with creativity, new experiences, knowledge and challenges in RISD, it leads me to the reality of the world, from a college freshmen into a woman industrial designer, willing to use skills and creativity developed through this period of time, to solve, not only by myself, but also working together, collaborating to transform issues into innovative matters. I hope that my perspective of the world will expand, that my eyes will be opened to the bothersome and inconveniences of our day by day, and be able to diminish them. I hope that I will be willing to solve these problems using what I know and what I have in hand, to improve and to help the society and the environment. I hope that I will be changed into an even more mature, creative, open-minded, self-motivated and capable person, prompt to be helpful. At the end of this time, I hope that not only I will be changed, but that my changes will influence the world around me.

I hope that the knowledge I will receive in RISD can make lives more convenient and more pleasurable, while leading to a cleaner environment and less impacted nature. I hope that I can be even more passionate and dedicated to design, be able to create effective designs, functionally, visually, and environmentally, using smart and clean materials. These are still how I hope to have changed, but it will probably be "how I will be changed" once I have the chance to go through these years as a student in RISD.

Undergraduate / Hot, mucky, and grimy; Common App short Essay Comments [5]

Hi there ,
I am not sure, but I think you are not really answering the question. This is more like an experience than a "character in fiction, a historical figure, or a creative work (as in art, music, science, etc.)" . Maybe you could write about this experience, but make sure you are enhancing its impact and influence on you. (:

Hope it helped..

Undergraduate / Looking Differently- Write about your passion ESSAY [2]

Hi guys ! Please put your suggestions and comments ! I am an international student, and I really want to get into this college. Whatever advice is really helpful for me, like structure , content , grammar . I hope that I am answering to the prompt ! > <

Is there something you love, have to do, can't stop thinking about? Write about a personal passion or obsession other than visual art or design.

Looking Differently
One passion of mine is to look at the sky, examine it while it takes my burden away. Wherever I go, if I look outside the window, it will be there, surrounding me. Every day after school is the time I most appreciate doing this, sitting in the car with my host sister, driving back home, listening to music. That's the moment when you see all the dark naked and thin branches braided beautifully between each other countless times like cobwebs, covering a light yellowish illumination. The car moves, the branches intertwine even faster, but the sky still stays calm and soft behind it. I can't help that a smile of mine always appears on my face when I look up at it. The infinite sky makes me think of how wide and big the outside world is, and how much there is available to explore, while one is often focused in only a couple aspects of life, while some small issues can lock you up in your own little world ,and prevent you to look further.

I've been part of many communities. I've moved to different countries and learned new cultures. I had unforgettable memories, experiences and apprenticeships from all these places, but one thing that does not change and often makes me reflect back to those old days is the sky. Just like the love of God, infinite and unchangeable, one thing that never changes is that whenever I look at the sky, from wherever I am, it will always be the same one. While being the same sky, what amazes me the most is that it can express innumerable emotions. It can be fulfilled with stars, clouds, snow, rain, or even a beautiful fried egg with some ketchup and mustard. I am deeply thankful to God that he made this beautiful part of the nature free and see-able every single day.

I enjoy appreciating and looking at the stars and the moon. I am always amazed by thinking that every single light dot is actually another sun, another giant fire floating ball so far away from you that you can only see a soft light. I like to visualize the moon as another planet, and look at it really attentively so I can see the line where it turns darker and darker, to realize that it's actually three dimensional, not simply a smile of a scary cat in Alice in Wonderland.

Undergraduate / Boom Boom. Boom Boom. / What intrigues you? NYU [7]

Your essay is really good and well thought. :D
But I think there's a small error :
One organ with the size of your fist is essentially responsible for your life.

Good luck !

Undergraduate / That day was not just an accomplishment [3]

Hi there !
I think you have to write more about its impact on you. You described your emotions and your situation , but what about it?
"That day was not just an accomplishment; it was a lesson, a lesson that changed me. I learned that I could do anything I set my mind to" How did it change you ? You can still develop your last paragraph. It's common to be nervous while being in front of a huge audience, so try to add something different and unique about yourself.

Good luck !!

Undergraduate / What I make, why I make is the ultimate result of who I am Parsons artist statement [2]

Hey there ! This is the artist statement for Parsons, product design. Could you help me giving me suggestions and advice ? What can I change to make it better ? Say whatever you think. Be honest !

Thank you ! (:

What do you make, how do you make, and why do you make? Ultimately, where do you visualize your creative abilities and academic study to take you after your education here at Parsons?

Everything that I am exposed to, my influences, my background, my community, and so many other aspects make what I am. What I make, and why I make is the ultimate result of who I am. That desire deep down in my heart, to make, to create, and to design has always been with me. It is often hard to express in words how I feel while putting what was previously in my mind, in my own imagination, into something tangible, into reality. I will try to put it down in words anyway. It's like giving birth to a child who is longing forever to get out of my inner space to be seen, to be someone useful and someone helpful. Not that I've ever given birth to a baby. As I grew older, this desire has only grown bigger, which makes me increasingly passionate about design. Just like parents who would do anything for their children, I am willing to work hard, really hard to make my "children" succeed. They might make some mistakes at first, but I will always be ready and willing to correct them, making sure that we learn from these mistakes so that the same won't occur again in order to become better ones. What I make, and how I make often comes along with my curiosity. I am curious about how to make things, how to reach to that final stage once looking at that good work that caught my attention. How did s/he manage to make this impressive work? When I think of a design, I am most curious about how to and what to use in order to make it. What materials, medium, time managing, and order of making would best benefit the design functionally, visually and environmentally? The process, the skills and techniques needed to lead to that final project is what makes me really curious, which consequently makes me want to create. I am often curious about the process of others' works, and curious about the techniques of my own future projects. Once I've made it to that point and solved the problem of "how", I've also reached my apotheosis. The best part of my curiosity is that it always leads me to try, to discover, and consequently to learn new ways to make, and how to solve a specific problem.

I come from a diverse background of rigorous education, creative upbringing, compassionate communities, and inspiring environment. I've always been a really dedicated and persevering person. I always work hard to be good at whatever I do, and that's the aspect I am proud of. My creative abilities, self- motivation, capability and academic background make me visualize myself as a successful person after my education at Parsons. I see myself as a product designer with open doors in the future, by walking through the path of a challenging and diverse program at Parsons along with my own abilities and commitment that I've achieved. It will take me far, and give me a bright path ahead.
