Some people think that instead of preventing climate change, we need to find a way to live with it. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

It is argued that people should figure out how to live climate change rather than preventing it. This essay disagrees with this argument. Firstly, it will demonstrate that we can not always live with climate change and secondly, discuss why preventing is easier and more efficient.

Living with frequent and dramatic climate changes is impossible. According to the evolution rule, those who can adapt themselves to the environment survive. However, the adaptation to a novel environment often takes a long time. If climate changes frequently, many animals may die since they can not get enough food due to the bad weather. With animals dying, it will be harder for people to produce food. So people's living condition is going to be worse. For example, many animals died in the Ice Age, which shows that it is hard to survive after dramatic climate changes.

Compared to adapting, it costs less to prevent climate change. Climate changes have caused many disasters including earthquakes. Many people lose their lives when such disasters happen. Governments have to pay billions of money to reconstruct cities. If the government takes action in advance to avoid climate change, less money will be spent and more people can survive. For example, those countries that produce less carbon dioxide will spend less money on rescuing plants or animals dying of high temperatures.

In conclusion, it is highly recommended to prevent climate change instead of thinking out a way to live with it. That's because adaptations to climate change are difficult and it takes less to prevent it.

The line graph below illustrates how much waste was generated per year by three different companies between 2000 and 2015. Overall, companies A and B produced less and less waste and company C produced more and more during this period.

Company A generated 12 tonnes of waste in 2000 and the weight decreased to about 11 tonnes in 2005. 5 years later in 2010, it dropped to 9 tonnes. The tendency continued between 2010 and 2015 with the amount of waste going down to less than 9 tonnes. Around 8 tonnes of waste was generated by company B and the number increased to about 10 tonnes in 2005, then decreasing to around 7 tonnes, in the end dropping to 3 tonnes in 2015.

Different from company A and B, company C produced more and more waster in a year. In 2000, only about 4 tonnes of waste was generated. It went up to 6 tonnes in 2005, later rising to about 7 tonnes, ending up with around 10 tonnes in 2015.

The number of students who graduate each year in Canada from 1992 to 2007 is shown in the diagram below.

Overall, there were more and more graduates every year. However, there were more female students than male graduates during this time.

From 1992 to 2001, the number of female graduates fluctuated around 100,000. There was also fluctuation in the number of male graduates during this time, which is around 70,000. Both female and male graduates are becoming more between 2001 to 2007. The number of female graduates increased from about 105,000 to about 150,000. And the number of male graduates rose from around 70,000 to around 95,000.

Between 1992 and 2001, female graduates outnumbered male graduates by about 300,000. Moreover, starting in 2001, the gap between the two genders was becoming larger and larger and ended up to more than 400,000 in 2007.

Computers now play a vital role in our society. Some people think that the computer is the most important invention of the last century. While others have different opinions. The essay supports the former idea that there are not other inventions more important than the computer. Firstly, the essay will discuss the convenience that the computer provides us with and secondly, discuss how the computer eliminates manual work.

Computers are used everywhere we can imagine since they bring us lots of conveniences. Customers use shopping websites or smartphone applications to buy whatever they want online. Browsing goods on the computer is much easier than driving to the shopping mall. Many young people do not know how to cook a meal. And ordering meals on the computer is an alternative. Years ago, we communicated with each other through letters. Now we use instant messager like Facebook, Wechat. No waiting is needed anymore. It can be drawn that computers have made our life more convenient than years ago in many aspects.

The computer is originally designed to deal with complex calculations that are used to be done by people. Calculating is a tiring and complex job. People often make mistakes doing such a job all day. Computers surely free us from tough calculation problems. After years of development, computers are able to do more difficult things now. Computers can control machines to produce goods without human guidance. In addition, advanced techniques like image recognition and automatic driving are also running on computers. Lots of tasks used to be done by the human now can be completed by computers.

In conclusion, there is no doubt that the computer is the most essential invention in the last 100 years since it not only makes our life convenient but also reduces lots of manual and complex tasks.
