Writing Feedback / Mistakes in the tenses, could you check these sentences and their verbs? [3]

There might be some mistakes in the tenses I used. I highlighted the places where might be some errors.
''It was Saturday afternoon at about three o'clock when we arrived at the festival and hundreds of people had already got there. I spent the first couple of hours just looking at all the different styles of clothes that people were wearing and the amazing hairstyles they had.

At about seven o'clock, we joined a huge crowd of people at the main stage after one or the most popular bands had started to play. After about half an hour, I realized I wanted to go to the toilet so I left my boyfriend enjoying the the music. It took about ten minutes to walk to the toilets and there was a big queue when I got there. After about three quarters of an hour, I made my way back to the concert.

There was an even bigger crowd of people by them, so I just looked for a tall guy with dark hair, jeans, and a black leather jacket which was what my boyfriend wore. I spotted a guy who looked like this, pushed my way through the crowd and stood in front of him. After the band hadfinished, I turned round, looked at the guy properly and realized it was not my boyfriend! I had been standing with a complete stranger for over an hour! I went very red, mumbled and apology and then saw my boyfriend who had been looking for me ages! 'Where did you disappear to?' he asked. He never believed my story.

Undergraduate / ACET - significant experiences or accomplishments. [5]

I'm not an expert in English, but I hope my advice is correct.

People often say that we strive and struggle in order to survive, and along the way, we gain experiences that (which ) mold our own selves ourseves and change it, either for the better or for the worse.

Because of these, we gain knowledge. We gain insights on how to live a life effectively, how the world works, and how everything gets affected by the ripples of our own decisions.

We experience how to love, to hate; we win, we lose; we get accepted or get rejected, and other parts in our life that helped us become what we are now, and also define us as a person.

Student Talk / Hi everyone! Welcome at EssayForum thread. [413]

Hi Ershad,

In fact, Russia and Ukraine have something in common, but people are different. I know that because my Mom is Russian and she seems different from my father's relatives who always lived in Ukraine. I'm happy that I live here. If I were offered to move to Russia, I would refuse. I think Ukrainians try to find better life in developed countries, moving to the USA, Canada and EU countries. Of course we do not consider Russia as developed country, so not many citizens of Ukraine would be glad to move in such country.

I agree with you that films do not always show the truth. But India is such a big country, so everyone wants to know something about it. I watched a program on travel channel about India. Some things were shocking for me, but its culture, history and religion seem very interesting.

Hey Ershad193
Hey Tanya, how is Ukraine like. I don't know much about it, except that it's really cold.

Who told you that Ukraine is very cold? That is not true. It is only cold in winter from December to February. You know, we have four seasons. Maybe you confused Ukraine with Russia. Some areas there are really cold.(However, you might be wright:Ukraine is much colder than India in winter).

I know a little about India, from films.

You are lucky! You did not have to learn every word and every grammar structure. Unfortunately, I have to do it and I think I will remember this experience forever.

Faq, Help / Thanking moderators and everyone who gave me helpful suggestion [28]

Spanish? Is that difficult to study?

I don't know much about other languages (except Ukrainian, Russian and English of course). Ukrainian is my mother tongue, but, you know, every Ukrainian can understand and speak in Russian. I think Ukrainian has much more complicated grammar than English, but that does not mean it is easy to me to study English.

Undergraduate / 'flourish in this challenging world' How family, culture influenced who you are? [5]

I think you should wright how your family history influenced on you and that you appreciate them.

In the second para talk about your achieves that you have made in ecology club, community involvement and other your interests.

Maybe if you give more important, more serious reasons why you chose that university and say that you can open your abilities more and even bring use for the university, your intentions will seem more serious.

Writing Feedback / We need neighbors who are helpful, kind, understanding and encouragingr [9]

Once I had spoken with a new neighbor and told about my situation.

I think your give some interesting information in your essay, but it is very unordered. It might be better if you first wright your statement and then give examples.

I also think you should rewrite first para. Make it more interesting, it will be better if it hooks attention.

Letters / Informal letter to the embassy in London to explain what happened [6]

You are studying at a university in the north of England. Your passport has been stolen.
Wright to your embassy in London, giving details of who you are, what happened and asking what you should do to get a new passport.

Dear sir or Madam,

I am writing to you hoping that you could do me a favour. Recently something really embarrassing has happened to me, so I have a problem which I think could be solve easily, but, unfortunately, I cannot make up my mind what to do.

I am a student at the university and at thee end of a week I feel so tired. That is why I decided to go to a sale to relax. I thought it would be so wonderful, but I was wrong. Usually my friends give me a lift to places I want, but that day they could not. I had to use public transport. When I caught a bus, I realized that my purse had just been stolen. There were my passport and money. The first thing I did I went to the police and filled in a form. I am giving you some details, just in case. The number of the passport is A4847009X. It was issued on 28.02.1992 and the expiry date is 27.02.2002. I lost it on 9 October at about 10.20 am. The police said that I might have avoided this if I was not talking on my mobile phone. I feel upset and I do not know what to do. I cannot wait until my passport is found. It could take ages. I wonder if you could give me some information about what I should do to get a new one.

I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Your faithfully,

Tanya Dmytrenko

Research Papers / Siblings vs only child: Early Childhood studies [5]

I have a brother and even though we have quarrels very often I think that it is much better to have 2 or more children. SIBLING RELATIONSHIPS learn us to take care about other people. That is good because in this way a child will not be selfish, but will be sympathetic.

A human is the social creature. And communication from the childhood will be very useful foe the future.

Also having brothers or sisters means having support during the life.

I hope my ideas will help you to right a good essay.

Writing Feedback / ILETS: Description of a camera [3]

Use the diagram of a camera below to write a description of its component parts and how it works. I was advised to incorporate some sentences. So here is my corrected writing.

A camera is a device which fixes picture of an object on a light-sensitive film.

The case of the camera is divided into two main parts. The first part, which is cylindrical, contains focusing lens and variable aperture that is used for regulation the size of the hole in it. Another part which is rectangular has two cylinders at the sides. One of them is empty, and another has a reel inside. A shutter located in front of this case. The camera is put into operation by a button on it. These two parts are attached to each other and the camera is T-shaped.

By turning the variable aperture, we can adjust the size of the hole which determines the width of a path of light rays from a subject. The size of the hole depends on how bright the lighting is.

The light rays from a subject end up through the focusing lens. Then they go through the hole in variable aperture and a crack which appears when the shutter opens. Finally, the light rays reach the film.

In conclusion, the camera is T-shaped, composed of 2 metal or plastic cases device intended for fixing pictures on the light-sensitive film.

Writing Feedback / IELST essay : "learning by doing" or through books and teachers. [5]

Therefore, "learning by doing" tend to have good better accents than the others.

However, according to studies by experts, in fact, most American does Americansdo not speak English very well, even those who have lived there for 20 years.

The reason is simply simple because in everyday life, you can communicate quite well without using good grammar or even good pronunciation.

So someone might loses their interest and give up real quick quickly.

If you tried to change some words, I mean find more synonyms, your essay will be perceived better.

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to you to get some information about London. Recently I have been told that I entered the university in Scotland. That is why I have to be there in a month. Writing Feedback / ILETS: The affects of smoking upon health and the benefits gained from stopping [4]

Smoking is a topical problem of modern society. Tons of cigarettes are consumed by people of different ages, despite that fact that doctors have been warning about pernicious influence of this habit for a long time.

Nicotine is the main component of tobacco. Settling in people's lungs, it troubles the breath and that affects a work of heart. All of this causes such diseases as bronchitis, lung and throat cancer and also heart illnesses. Millions of men and women have already died because of their habitude. However,

the most interesting thing is that 99% of smokers had been infirmed about the shortcomings before they first tried it.

Smoking sways on the organisms of female part of population especially strongly. Women who have been smoking for a long time have risks of premature birth of a child and even more fatal consequence - a birth of a miscarriage. Do you often stand next to your smoking friend, charting cheerfully and rejoining in your soul that you have a healthy lifestyle? however, in truth, you are inflicted as much impairment as the smoker?

Government of the more or less developed countries tries to reduce a number of smokers by conducting a policy against smoking. So that does not seem to be strange that prices on cigarettes increase every single day.

In conclusion, smoking is baneful and financially unprofitable dependence on tobacco losing which we diminish the probability of falling ill with throat and lung cancer and heart diseases.
