Book Reports / An analytical study to Samuel Beckett's play Waiting for Godot. [12]

and here is the following.( The summary of the first part)

Waiting for Godot is one of the most important works of our time. It revolutionized theatre in the twentieth century. It has a great a profound influence on generations of succeeding dramatists, including such renowned contemporary playwrights as Harold Pinter and Tom Stoppard.

It is first written in French in 1948 as En Attendant Godot and was published in French in October of 1952 before its first stage production in Paris in January of 1953. Later translated into English by Beckett himself as Waiting for Godot, the play was produced in London in 1955 and in the United States in 1956 and has been produced worldwide.

The play came to be considered an essential example of what Martin Esslin later called "Theatre of the Absurd," a term that Beckett disavowed but which remains a handy description for one of the most important theatre movements of the twentieth century.1

Waiting for Godot is a play in two acts. The Act I begins in the evening on a country road next to a tree. Estragon, an old poor man, is sitting on a low mound trying to remove his boot. His friend, Vladimir, another old man joins him and begin to chat.

From the start the audience can easily know that the two men have known each other for years. It seems that they were once rich, strong and respectable in their community but now they turn to be homeless, weak, and often suicidal. In many occasions both Vladimir and Estragon wonder out loud why they did not kill themselves years ago! They consider the possibility of doing it today. Yet, they are still having a hope which encourage them waiting for someone they call "Godot". No body can stand waiting and Estragon and Vladimir also don't. Thus, as to avoid feeling sad and depressed of waiting, they share conversation, food, and memories.

Later on, two other elderly men, Pozzo and Lucky, arrive on the scene. For the first sight, it is clear that Pozzo is the master, and Lucky is the slave. Upon command, the slave dances and thinks out loud for the entertainment of the others, until he is forcibly silenced by his master.

After Lucky and Pozzo depart, a boy arrives to tell Estragon and Vladimir that Godot will not be there today, but will be there tomorrow. The boy leaves and Estragon and Vladimir continue waiting and suffering with a hope that Godot will meet them tomorrow.

Book Reports / An analytical study to Samuel Beckett's play Waiting for Godot. [12]

here is a part of the introduction.

After the brutal World Wars, first and second, many philosophers and writers expressed their pessimism towards life. After the war, life became more complicated and meaningless. Even though there was an industrial revolution which enhanced the society and brought so many positive aspects to every day life, the Second World War evokes the belief that the new life is unsafe and the new technology itself has bad effects on people and industry's disadvantages outweigh its advantages. New weapons are created and massive destruction felt among ordinary people. There was a huge number of innocent people who were killed for no worthy reason. Victims of the war were too many and those who weren't killed were left in miserable conditions. The picture of that era is fairly depicted by Thomas Carlyle "doubt, desire, sorrow, remorse indignation, despair itself, all these like hell dogs lie beleaguering the soul of the poor day worker, as of ever man?(Lionel trilling and Harold bloom, Victorian prose and poetry, 1973?P;54;

In these same conditions the philosophy of absurdity emerged and the theatre of the absurd had birth. But what is the theatre of absurd?

The theatre of the absurd refers to a particular type of plays which describe human conditions as basically meaningless and arguing that the world must ultimately be seen as absurd. It aims at creating a vision of confusion which is stemming from the fact that it is difficult, if not impossible, to find answers to the basic existential questions: why are we alive? Why have we to die? Why there's injustice and people have to suffer.

"Absurdist Theatre" discards traditional plot, characters, and action to assault its audience with a disorienting experience. Characters often engage in seemingly meaningless dialogue and/or activities which make the audience senses what it is like to live in a universe that doesn't "make sense." Besides Eugène Ionesco, Jean Genet, Arthur Adamov, and Harold Pinter, Samuel Beckett is one of the well-known playwrights of the absurd theatre. These writers felt that this disoriented feeling was a more honest response to the post World War II world than the traditional belief in a rationally ordered universe.

Dear Kunle.
I do get your point. Thanks lot for the ideas mentioned. I do not consider traditions bad and as you said there are many of them in my nation(tamazight ones) that i fall in love with and i feel good with. My point is merely ameliorating my writing. I asked myself before I wrote the essay: what if the next exam's question is Traditions are not good. defend this point of view. This is why I am asking to correct my essay grammatically and in terms of the form and so on. Your idea is very clear and I totally agree with u. Next essay I promise will be for defending traditions.

Essays / Lazy societies always find to themselves excuses to do nothing!; What's CULTURE? [25]

Traditions are something peoples everywhere boast, respect, practice and some people even see them as sacred things. No one can deny that traditions are valuable things we inherit from our ancestors. However, we shouldn't cling lot on them because some of them are no more beneficial and peoples have to forget about them and live their generations every day life instead.

Our generations are totally different from our ancestors ones due to many factors among which the advanced technology and its impact on the globe. The world now is very small and people can learn from each other and can easily distinguish between beneficial traditions and useless ones. There are kinds of traditions that encourages laziness and hinders the progress of countries. In Morocco, there isn't only one special tradition that stands against the development of the country. There are many norms that Moroccans have to get rid of if they want to enhance their country and ameliorate their life. One of these traditions is linked to lack of understanding of the state religion and the strong, blind belief of people in some dead religious figures to whom they build big minarets and practice mysterious worships thinking the souls of these people can help them in every day life and if they do not fulfill these prayers they are going to be cursed and their lives would be hard. I personally believe these people waste their time and instead of working hard they relay on dead bodied that are helpless and hence they end their life lazily and passively.

Lazy societies always find to themselves excuses to do nothing. Morocco is one of these societies in which people hang all their lives on destiny. They think that their actions are counted and all what the are going to do is done for them before they come to live in this earth! They are acting what God wants. Some of them say it is no use working because God guaranties the living for people and that people are here to do nothing but worship. This is not true and Moroccan society should be careful and must know how to deal with these misunderstandings of Islam because it leads the society to more economical and social crisis and failure.

I insist as a Moroccan citizen on the responsibility of the government to make an end to some harmful traditions which wastes Moroccans' energy and make their country lagging behind other societies. Instead the leaders have to encourage the use of new technology and sensitize people about its goodness.

Dear Members of the Committee

Thank you so much for taking time to read my application. I bet that having read my materials, you will have an insight into my character. Before starting about myself, I would rather write a few words about my past work, then I will set forth my goals to and reasons for wanting to have access the third cycle courses on "Comparative Studies" at your university - Ibno Zohr Faculty.

Closely after my graduation, I was working at a British Company "Euro-monitor" for three years time when I stopped in 2007. My job was a freelancer composing business reports on the Moroccan market. After that, I determined to join teaching field and Maria Private School is the school I am working in currently. In the mean time, I was teaching English in a number of English Language Centres as a part time job. More than that, I took part in several workshops, on teaching, held by native speakers in American Language Centre (ALC).

As far as motives are concerned, I would say that to pursuit my studies in higher education tops the list of my reasons. Also, having taught English language for five years strongly contributed to stir up my interest to go further in and empower my studies. Additionally, the topic "comparative studies" fits my concern and my specialty - literature. Furthermore, I should admit that there are other faculties where the third cycle has been available, but always displeases me precisely as these universities are a long way from my favourite city - Agadir. In other words, the proximity of the faculty is another driving force behind the choice.

Ultimately, on the basis of my aforementioned past work and my experience, I hope that I will be the kind of candidate who will do well in the field.

In its side, the government announces a sit of reforms to calm down the angry inhabitant; yet, they are not sufficient and the people wants more serious steps to be taken.

though the different measures taken by the previous governments to reduce its rate. Today, being employed is on the head of the list of demonstratore demands. We need to get a job, many voices raise among the crowds. Accordingly, the responsibles promice finding thousands of jobs this year. However, few diplomat holders are integrated in confused conditions. I know a friend, he is among the luckiest jobless in Morocco, who has got a Master in physics and now works as a french teacher!! the governments, indeed, finds hundreds of jobs but almost all of them are misplaced and this gives an obvious sign about how serious the responsibles are towards the reform.

Many other reforms are anounced. For example, the freedom of speech and mass media. yet, we see the way people are arrested merely because they critic the conditions and Rachid Niny, a famous Moroccan writer, is one among a lot. Moreover, officianal chanels never say the truth about what is happening in the state concerning corruption. Here again we see to what extent the leaders are faithful on their promices.

Tamazight is another issue people discuss a lot here in Morocco. No one deny the fact that the land is AMAZIGH; yet, the government prefers not to say clearly that Amazigh people have the right to use their mother tongue language officially in courts, administrations and schools.

In fact, it is not difficult for any body to meausre how serious the responsibles are towards their promices. It is easy to find how much they lie on their own people and mislead them to calm down and let corruption goes on and on in all the sphers of life.

Writing Feedback / Essay - is education very important for a country to be well developed - feedback [4]

Good day.
I read your essay. It is good; carry on writing good essays. however, There are some 'in my point of view, sentences that should be checked.

see here.

furthermore, a country with a high percentage of learned individuals (educated people) is more sustainable than others. T his is because, both the government and citizens can openly and wisely discuss their problems and challenges without disputing in understanding their duties towards achieving a healthy economy .

In my point of view , I strongly believe that excellent education is the main key for success. In the pat some countries around the world were totally destroyed after the second world war . However, they rebuilt themselves very fast becoming one of the world leader by giving education system high priority. (252 words )

I think there's a kind of repetition( In my Opinion : I strongly believe)
Many countries rebuilt in short time after the war due to its qualified education.

Writing Feedback / Numerous positive effects of the new technology on our daily life. [18]

Thanks in advance for reading and correcting.
Bad aspects of modernity.

Every body can see clearly numerous positive effects of the new technology on our dailly life. however, few people are worried about its drawbacks. Indeed, the new technology complicates our life more than it facilitates it by damaging our nature, weakening our bodies and destroying culture and good values.

No one can deny the those perfect advantages of technology on all the domains in the modern life. It facilitates communication, enabling people to move from place to place easily and in short time. It helps lot in education that students nowadays can have access to foreign universitites and contacting teachers all over the world while he's sitting in his bedroom infront the screen of his computer. In every one's house there are lot of luxurious technology devices that make the house more comfortable and give a world of entertainment and happiness for both children and adults.

This happiness, others say, is not really what it seems to be. people in modern societies live in crisis and psychological disasters due to technology. People have to have more than one job to satisfy their needs. Many luxuries become obligations in nowadays. At house there should be electric devices like the oven, a big fridge washing mashine, a plat form TV and to less degree dishwasher. Children need more expenses for schooling, clothing, entertainment and the like. Adding that the family has to have a mean of transport. These expenses push the family to get big loans from banks and then financial crisis starts.

Far from economical problems, new technology damages nature and contributes in natural disasters such as terrible floods, tsounamis and earthquakes and the like. Geant enterprises, interested merly in making profects, polluts oceans and destroy forests that give life to other living creatures. This has been leading to the disappear of many spicious and the appearance of mortal diseases. Many mortal diseases are found lately to be consequences of the use of new technologies. For example the daily use of some electric machines facilitate work but causes cancer.

By and large, New technology has both positive aspects and negative effects that necessitates a serious debat on how to minimise maximum draw backs and benefit as much as possible.

Writing Feedback / Bribery in Morocco - citizens should stand against their leaders. [6]

In many countries around the world, people are ready to give bribe though they know it is uncivilized manner. Morocco is one of these countries where people, both responsibles and citizens, are addict to bribery. I strongly believe that bribery is a giant problem which deters Morocco from a real development and if the government takes strict procedures against bribery, the country will over pass almost all its problems.

Many Moroccans claim their country is democratic and it respects human rights. However, this is not true, others say, because ordinary citizens are suffering lot from many daily problems including bribery, a social disease that kills happiness and enthusiasm of poor people. The indifference of the authorities is the major reason for the spread of this bad manner in the society. If the government is serious about the issue, establishing...
