Scholarship / My dream is to work with and take care of people; Nursing career/ Scholarship. [4]

I became very serious about pursuing a nursing career my junior year in high school. When I was offered the opportunity to shadow a recovery room nurse and a nurse anesthetist, I jumped right on it.

Grammar Error!
I became very serious about pursuing a nursing career my junior year in high school. When I was offered the opportunity to shadow a recovery room nurse and a nurse anesthetist;certainly, I jumped right on it.

If you don't like certainly, try other conjunctive adverbs like thus, consequently, hence, incidentally or others that you find fitting. Without the semicolon and conjunctive adverb, that sentence is known as a comma splice.

Hope I helped!

Scholarship / 'Dental hygiene is the ideal career for me' - my goals [3]

Indicate your professional or educational goals; explain your current and future plans.

Dental hygiene is a dynamic and challenging career that offers team work, personal growth, fulfillment, and extraordinary benefits, and it is the perfect career for me. As a licensed health care professional, the dental hygienist is a valuable member of the dental team providing patient care. Good qualities for a dental hygienist are compassion and enjoying talking to people; two qualities that fit my personality. I love the thought of knowing I made a positive impact in a person's health. Also, opportunities for part-time work, flexible schedules, and good pay make dental hygiene a desirable career choice for me. I have a young daughter and my husband is in Afghanistan, so a flexible schedule is important to my family life.

Until recently, I worked as a dental assistant at an office in Washington State, so I understand what it takes to become a dental hygienist. I learned at this office the importance of team work, customer service, patient care, and the workings of a dental office. I understand the importance of team work in this profession because when running behind with my work, I could always count on my colleagues to help me out. I worked with a wonderful team of highly skilled professionals that took the time to challenge and encourage me to follow my dream of becoming a dental hygienist.

A successful career begins with proper an education. The first step of my goal to be a dental hygienist will be to obtain an Associate of General Studies from Montgomery College. My plans after Montgomery College are to transfer to the University of Maryland, Baltimore campus, to obtain a Bachelor of Science in their dental hygiene program. I recognize that my career path requires a great amount of hard work and dedication, but I am determined to reach my goal. I am really interested in the various aspects of this program and if I get a suitable place to advance further, I will certainly use the opportunity to its full potential.

Dental hygiene is the ideal career for me, and this is my chosen path. The combination of a team-oriented environment, helping patient's oral health, and flexible hours is what has taken me down this path.

Scholarship / 'a well-educated person can survive' - Scholarship Essay-Transfer Plans [3]

Please indicate your transfer plans and schools you would like to attend after Montgomery College, including transfer plans to the University System of Maryland, Universities at Shady Grove, or an institution in another state.

A quality education from a reputable institution can always help a person develop more. I am confident that I have chosen the most appropriate major as it suits my taste and temperate. However, there are many reasons why I have made up my mind to transfer to the University of Maryland. First and foremost of all, small classes, modern clinical facilities, and curriculum made my decision easy. This is just the program for me.

I have a young daughter, and my husband is currently in Afghanistan, so attending Montgomery College for the next two years suits my family life. The first step of my goal to be a dental hygienist will be to obtain an associate degree in general studies from Montgomery College. My plans after Montgomery College are to transfer to the University of Maryland, Baltimore campus, to obtain a Bachelors of Science in their dental hygiene program. I know this will be a lot of hard work, but I am determined to reach my goal of becoming a dental hygienist. I am really interested in the various aspects of this program and if I get a suitable place to advance further, I will certainly use up the opportunity to the maximum.

Only a well-educated person can survive in today's ultra-technological state of affairs. I am a person who believes in the power of hard work and determination. With these in hand, I am sure that I can advance further in life.

Scholarship / A camp counselor at Camp Cispus (extracurricular activities) [2]

Extracurricular activities: list your high school/college educational achievements, honors and awards received, any organizational affiliations, community service, volunteer activities, etc., for the past three years.

I have always been a person that loves to learn; I worked hard in school. At the same time, I have given utmost importance to various extracurricular activities. There are a number of social activities I have taken part of. Such exposures made me adapt to more social and liberal attitudes and learn the art of mingling with others.

During my high school years, I was chosen to be a camp counselor at Camp Cispus in Seattle. To be chosen for a counselor at this camp, it meant that you had to have at least a 3.0 GPA and attend a 3-month long training after school. At Camp Cispus, a week-long educational camp for 5th graders, you were assigned ten 5th graders and you were responsible for creating activities to share with them.

I participated in various extracurricular activities, such as the Christmas in the Park, a church-based festival to bring the community together at Christmas time. I have volunteered for Christmas in the Park since 2004, and this has always been one of my favorite volunteer activities. I managed the face painting booth, pictures with Santa, and the arts and crafts booths, some of my most memorable assignments.

I worked at a nursing home for two years, and I received three awards: Employee of the month (twice) and a Certificate of Appreciation.
While enlisted in a program for dental assisting, I made the Dean's List. This award was given to students in the dental assisting program with strong work ethics and a GPA of at least 3.5.

As a dental assistant at a dental office in Seattle where I last worked, I volunteered for the "Smile Bus." This is a county-wide program to help underprivileged children get dental care. The bus would drive to different areas of the county so parents could take their children for checkup, cleaning, and sealants. I assisted the dentist with these procedures, and I gave the parents and children instructions on how to keep good oral hygiene at home.

I had a series of significant experiences in life which opened up the windows to new realms of knowledge and awareness. Extracurricular activities take place on many different levels and in many different ways. Each time somebody volunteers, they give a part of themselves to improve the quality of life for those around them and ultimately society itself.
