Writing Feedback / 'various viewpoints' Extreme sports should be banned or not? [5]

There is a phenomenon that ultimate sports are more and more popular around the world, such as jumping in sky, racing car, climbing skyscraper and so on, which are specially played by some young people who like to do different kinds of exciting activities.

There are various viewpoints about ultimate sports. Some people think that we should prohibit all ultimate sports, because they are very dangerous and could make a threat to public security. On the contrary, others insist that ultimate sports could not be forbidden, for those people have rights to perform ultimate sports and they love challenges. Admittedly, both sides are reasonable to some extent.

As far as I am concerned, we could not absolutely prohibit ultimate sports or freely release them. However, we should build some appropriate rules and policies to administrate and organize them.

There are several reasons that extreme sports should be not only advocated but also controlled by proper ways. Firstly, as one kind of sports, ultimate sports represent human beings' spirit of challenge, which can urge the development of whole sport activity. Besides, ultimate sports have a great deal of value of performance and commercial effects. For example, many people like watching TV programs of racing sport car, which is exactly dangerous. A variety of famous companies have needs to sponsor racing car, which includes engine oil brands, car brands, wheel brands and so on. It could gain plenty of commercial profits to sponsor ultimate sports for some companies, and the players also could get only fortune but also their fame and career achievements. Most important, some limitations should be applied to ultimate sports. We should not advocate teenager participate these sports, and it is crucial to guarantee their security under supervision of parents or related institutions.

Based on the above discussions, if the related departments can manage extreme sports effectively, many people will benefit from them.

Writing Feedback / IELTS; School teachers used to be the source of information [3]

School teachers used to be the source of information; however, some people argue that teachers are not as important as before because of the increasing variety of information resources. What is your opinion?

In the past few decades, teachers are considered to be the main roles in process of delivering knowledge. But there is a view that students can acquire knowledge from the other ways instead of teachers. Personally, I think teachers are still important for us because of some irreplaceable factors.

On one hand, teachers can enable students to develop their personality and interests. Different students have various individuality and ability, and teachers are able to apply appropriate teaching methods and contents in education process according to students' specific situations. This means that student can learn knowledge step by step under guidance of teachers and have more efficiency.

Besides, teachers can choose the proper information from different sources and convey it to students. There are a great deal of information from internet and mass media, and it is difficult for students to distinguish what is necessary for them, because some students are not mature and have no the ability to choose the useful knowledge from these resources. Some students are likely to be affected by some violent contents and unhealthy lifestyles when they view internet and watch TV programs. Therefore, it is necessary for teachers to help students acquire knowledge selectively.

On the other hand, teachers' knowledge is relatively limited, and the other resources can be regarded as a complement for students learning. For example, students can gain further knowledge from internet, if they are interested in a specific subject. This can broaden their horizon and prompt them to pursue individual goals.

In conclusion, although there are a number of resources that could provide students with more choices of learning, teachers still play a crucial role in conveying knowledge.

Writing Feedback / IELTS The environment problems facing today's world are so great that there is [2]

The environment problems facing today's world are so great that there is little ordinary people can do to improve the situation. Government and large companies should be responsible for reducing the amount of damage being done to the environment. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Nowadays, many countries are concerned with the environment problems. There is a viewpoint that the government and big firms should assume the responsibility to protect the environment and normal citizens have nothing to do for that. Personally, I think both government and common people should have the responsibility for the environment, but we need to analyze some specific situations.

On one hand, solving some environmental problems needs large budgets and various technologies, and the government and corporations have the ability to deal with these problems. For example, air pollution and water quality has concerned many countries, and the government is able to implement some policies and invest money to reduce air pollution, while companies also can enhance their technologies to curb emission of contaminated water and substances. However, individuals are unable to cope with these things.

Besides, the government and firms could have significant influences on environmental awareness of people. It is necessary for every citizen to have the awareness and knowledge of environment protection. This means that we should convey corresponding policies and knowledge to the public and society, and the government controls many influential media, such as TV stations and newspapers, which can provide plenty of environmental knowledge and related policies to citizens.

On the other hand, it is possible for ordinary people to participate in some actions of environment protection, and they also can benefit from the improvement of environment. For instance, many people driving private cars could cause air pollution, and overusing plastic packages would affect the environment. If people can gradually change some lifestyles in these daily activities, this will have many significant impacts on environmental improvement.

In conclusion, the government and corporations should take more responsibility for addressing environmental issues, but every citizen also can contribute to the environment.

Writing Feedback / IELTS: bar chart - average retirement age among seven countries in 2004 and 2008 [5]

The two bar charts show a series of figures about average retirement ages of men and women among seven countries in 2004 and 2008.

There was an upward trend that the average retirement ages of people in all countries in 2008 were higher than the figures in 2008, except Italy. The highest average retirement age of men was in Sweden, rising from 63 in 2004 to 63.7 in 2008. In contrast, Italy had the lowest figures, at only 58 in both years. Netherland, Sweden and UK had longer average retirement ages of men, above 61, while these figures were below 61 in the other four countries.

Women had a similar trend of change in average retirement ages, compared with men. Six countries saw an increase of these figures within the four years, Italy experienced a fall to 56 in 2008, 1 year lower than that in 2004. Sweden till had largest average retirement ages of women, at 62 in 2004 and 63 in 2008.

Overall, it is obvious that women had shorter average retirement ages than men in all countries, where people retired later over the four years.

Writing Feedback / IELTS: Technological progress in the past century has its negative effect, despite its remarkable [3]

Technological progress in the past century has its negative effect, despite its remarkable contribution. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

In the past few decades, there were many remarkable achievements in technology fields that have numbers of beneficial effects on the whole society or individuals, although bringing some disadvantages to us.

On one hand, the development of technology can prompt economic growth and the improvement of living standard. Scientists and engineers have invented many novel products and tools, which play an important role in economic activity. Because of the technology of internet and air transportation, businessmen are able to handle plenty of international trade and financial transactions. This also helps many countries more efficiently export their products to the world and increase their revenue.

Besides, advanced technology enables people to enhance their living-level and health care standard. With the improvement of medical technology, it is obvious that the life expectancy in many countries has been significantly longer than before, and many serious diseases are under control. Digital entertainment technology allows people to enjoy playing interactive video games and watching three-dimension movies, and this means that we could get more happiness from technology.

On the other hand, the development of technology is likely to bring some negative effects on the environment and society. People utilize architecture technology to construct buildings to expand urban areas, and fuel companies apply drilling technology to extract a great amount of fossil oil in natural regions. This would pose a large threat to the ecology and environment. Vehicle technology enables many people to drive private cars, and emission of exhaust gas could lead to air pollution in large cities.

In conclusion, although technological progress causes corresponding problems, and it still provides us with much more advantages.

Writing Feedback / IELTS; Schools greatest failure is that it focuses too intensely on academic subjects [9]

This essay will lose many scores in Task Response.

Firstly, the teaching methods at schools should be more effectively projected to the students so as to ensure that the student has understood the topic. For example, as in case of Physics, a teacher should be able to explain Newton Laws of Motion in a practical methodology so as to make clear to the student what precisely the teacher is referring to.

This paragraph does not discuss why we should not focus intensely on academic subjects. You can talk about more advantages of non-academic subjects and expand these ideas.

Writing Feedback / IELTS: The pie charts indicate different percentages of expenditure on seven items [6]

The pie charts indicate different percentages of expenditure on seven items in US from 1966 to 1996.

It is obvious that food and cars constituted the largest part of all spending in both years. The highest percentage of expense was in food, at 44% in 1966, but it sharply dropped to 14% in 1996. In contrast, the proportion of expense on cars nearly doubled, rising from 23% to 45% within 30 years.

The proportion of expenditure on computer had a significant rise at the fastest pace, increasing from 1% to 10%. However, the figure about books saw a dramatically downward trend, declining to only 1% in 1996. The figure of restaurant doubled to 14% during 30 years, while petrol and furniture had similar percentages of expense in both years, slightly falling to 8% in 1996.

Writing Feedback / Change of career and living place has more positive effect on the whole society and the individual [3]

In the past few decades, there were numbers of people who changed their jobs and moved to different living places. Although this has brought some disadvantages, there are still many positive effects on the society and the individual.

On one hand, changing jobs and living places can promote economic growth and development of individuals. Because of the fierce competition in modern society, many companies intend to recruit a variety of professional employees, and this means that some people can get more opportunities to reach a better position. Especially in some developing countries, the manufacturing industry needs plenty of workforce, and this allows increasing numbers of young people living in rural areas to move to industrial regions or large cites. Therefore, migration can stimulate economic development.

Besides, the change of career and resident place has a beneficial effect on the family and living standard. Due to the imbalance between more and less developed areas or countries, many people tend to look for a better environment to improve children's education and the quality of life. For example, a rising number of people in some developing countries have migrated to developed countries, and this can provide better medical service and education to these people.

On the other hand, when more people frequently move to new places, this also poses a threat to their original places and destinations. Some companies will lose their talented employees hunted by the other larger companies. It is difficult for many people to adapt to the different culture and cities. In addition, many people moving into large cities can impose the heavy burden on traffic system and housing.

In conclusion, despite some adverse aspects, the change of career and living place has more positive influences on the whole society and the individual.

Writing Feedback / IELTS: The increasing demand for oil and gas has made it necessary to look for these sources [3]

The increasing demand for oil and gas has made it necessary to look for these sources of energy in remote and untouched natural places. Do you think the advantages of locating oil and gas in these places outweigh the disadvantages of damaging these places?

In the past few decades, the needs of energy had a significant rise, and many countries and energy companies were exploiting oil and gas in some distant areas and natural regions. While this has some beneficial influences on economy and local people, there are still more corresponding problems.

On one hand, exploiting fossil fuel in natural places could pose a large threat on ecology and environment. For example, a serious oil spill accident happened in Gulf of Mexico several years ago, resulting from the wrong operation within the process of oil drilling. This accident led to a series of problems, such as ocean water pollution and mass fish deaths. Furthermore, extensive extraction of oil could result in earthquake and ground sinking.

Besides, the relations between some countries have become increasing tense due to the scramble for fuel resources. Many developed countries heavily rely on fossil fuel to drive the economy, and they intend to hunt for oil and gas reserves from overseas. This means that the scramble for fuel could be a threat to national security.

On the other hand, the increasing exploitation of oil in distant areas can stabilize the international fuel prices and reduce the intense demand for fossil fuels, because of fuel supply rising. In addition, locating oil and gas in remote places can provide more employment opportunities to local residents, who are likely to increase their income.

In conclusion, there are more negative impacts in exploitation of fuel on the natural environment and international relations, despite some economic benefits in energy markets. Therefore, it is necessary to develop more alternative energy sources rather than fossil fuels.

In recent years, Major cities have seen unprecedented growth and have become land of opportunities for all of us. Consequently, youngsters from small cities or even from large cities have to relocate for work or studies. This relocation has both advantages and disadvantages, however, overall, I think the advantages are far more than disadvantages.

This is not a good introduction, and you need to directly introduce the task response: "young people living far from parents"

Writing Feedback / IELTS: It is necessary for people to choose the appropriate working mode in career growth [2]

Some people work for the same organization all their working life. Others think that it is better to work for different organizations. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

There is a view that people should work permanently in the same company, while others prefer to change various jobs many times. To decide which side is better, it is necessary for us to analyze their specific benefits and drawbacks.

On one hand, working for the same corporate in whole career can bring both advantages and disadvantages to the corporate and the individual. These employees staying in the same company are able to understand the company thoroughly and familiar with the staff and the process of operation, and this makes it easy for them to be promoted. Besides, these long-term stable employees are likely to have a sense of belonging and strong loyalty to the company, and this means that the employer can have stable human resource, which is absolutely vital for the development of the company.

However, one of the drawbacks of staying in the same company is that some staffs could not have the spirit of challenge and innovative ability. If people deal with the same task in the unchangeable environment for a long time, they are likely to become bored with the job, and this will lead to lack of vitality and innovative power in the company.

On the other hand, when the people work for different corporates, they can acquire a variety of corporate cultures and plenty of work experience. With diverse work experience, these employees can have ability to solve different problems, and they are able to cope with more challenging and complicated tasks to achieve the higher position. But in some cases, switching jobs frequently can also result in the unstable career and the difficulty in adapting to the changeable environment. Furthermore, some people will lose their direction and get confused with the career prospect due to frequent job changes.

In my view, every person has unique individuality and various levels of ability, and it depends on these specific characteristics whether one person should work for the same organization or for different organizations. It is necessary for people to choose the appropriate working mode in career growth.

Writing Feedback / IELTS: we can not forcedly put the same numbers of males and females into every subject [2]

Universities should accept equal numbers of male and female students to study in every subject. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

There is a view that universities and colleges should equally enroll male and female students in numbers in each faculty. Personally, I do not agree the viewpoint, because many different characters exist between male and female students.

On one hand, boys and girls have the diversity in psychological modes and individuality. Most of male students tend to use their left brain to think and act, and they are more rational and logical than girls in many cases. For instance, there are more male scientists and engineers in comparison with females around the world. Many boys are interested in science and technology, while a number of girls like to learn literature, education and arts. Besides, girls are more likely to prefer some jobs related to emotion and communication, such as teacher, singer and interpreter. This means that girls differ from boys in mind and behaviour to a large extent, and they both have better ability in the specific aspect.

Furthermore, it can have a negative affect on these students to require them to choose a subject in equal proportion of gender, and that does not conform to students' personality traits and mental development. For example, a girl, who is interested in literature, is arranged into an engineering department, but she is unlikely to focus on her subject, and this also can block the girl's future development and career prospect.

On the other hand, universities should encourage more girls to choose science subjects and more boys to study the humanities, and this could avoid imbalance of gender in some subjects. It would affect students' mental health to study in the environment of single gender.

In conclusion, it is necessary for universities to respect the individual choice of subject due to the diversity of boys and girls, and we ca not forcedly put the same numbers of males and females into every subject.
