I am also applying in Notre dame. But i have chosen the first question. I like your essay but i think it dosent answer the question. You have shown how you are diffret but not How will a Notre Dame education enable you to answer the call to "use wisely the blessings of freedom, in order to build a future of hope" for others in your own way?

Undergraduate / Nepal -- small land lock country, Tufts supp- [4]

Describe the environment in which you were raised--your family, home, neighbour or community-- and how it infulenced the person you are today.(200 words)

The country I come from is a small land lock country, Nepal; most of the people are unaware about its existence. The community where I come from is petite and conventional. And being born as a single girl child is like being filled with expectations and restrictions. Every time, there is a struggle to get the best and to be the best. With so many pairs of eyes and ears waiting for my class results, whether I score high or degrade, were definitely a nervous and anxious moment. However, with the speed of time, this only made me stronger and ambitious. Every time, I came first in my class or got a gold medal in athletics, there was no turning back. It made me desire for more. However, when ever I failed or was rejected, I used to go to the toilet and cry for an hour or more. After that, I used to wipe my tears, wash my face with cold water, and get ready for another beginning, another challenge. After all there was no turning back

Undergraduate / What are the three things you want the Bucknell faculty to know? [2]

My dead lineis nov 15th so i looking forward with some last minute help . I hope my writing is not so booring .

What r the three most important things you want the Bucknell faculty and the students to know about you ?( up to 200 words each )

1. I wanted to be a story writer. Whenever I had leisure time I used take a pen and a note book and begin to write. I used to create all these fantasy stories. However, ever time I used to give my writing for publication in the annual school magazine; it hardly used to get published. I used to be told that they were good but not so remarkable to be published. After having put so much effort in each of my stories, every rejection used to make me sad. However, I never let it be the reason to quite writing stories. Every time my moral was down I used to consol my self by remembering a quote by B.C Forbes-"History has demonstrated that the most notable winners usually encountered their heart breaking obstacles before they triumphed .They won because they refused to be discouraged by their defeat. ". I still write stories. In fact my stories have become even more interesting and deals with mature subjects. Now, my stories occasionally get published in the local newspaper .I hope to write a novel some day.

2. After the high school ended there wasn't much thing to do. So I decided to look for some kind of volunteer or a paid job. I went to UNIFEM (United Nations Development fund for women) office to ask whether there was any vacancy for the internship. In the first visit I was not much entertained. There were hundreds of eager bachelor graduates who used apply for the internship every year .Only few were given a chance .And I was just high school graduate. I was told that the office would inform if there was any vacancy. This was a dream job and I did not want to let go. After three weeks, I got a call that Mrs. Saru Joshi Shrestha(Deputy head of UNIFEM) wanted to see me . When I met her she told me that she was impressed by the level of interested that I had shown towards the internship and she liked my sample report too. I was told to join the intern team form the next week. All of my patience and faith on myself had paid off. Besides, it taught me a valuable lesson- never give up even when there is a negative probability because the future is always uncertain.

3. When I was in high school we used to have school assembly once a week on Monday. The assembly used to start at sharp 9 am along with the arrival of the school principal and the student council. The whole hall used to become pin drop silent as the school prefects used to stand on the stage. Ever time I saw them on the stage I used to dream being one of them. My dream was soon turned in to reality when I was nominated for the next batch of student council by the school administration. It was when I became a school prefect I came to realize that being a leader wasn't as easy as standing in front of everyone in the school assembly . We had to be responsible for the welfare of the student in the school and be an example to them .There were lots of compromises we had to make to ensure other got equal chance. And the toughest of all was to maintain trust of the students as well as the school administration. Now, when I remember the last time I stood on the stage in the school assembly I think, after all the effort I had put on to it, I kept the pride of that position.

Undergraduate / Hard work and persistent efforts will pay off [4]

My parents always tell me that hard work and persistent efforts will pay off and that I should keep trying until success is found.

I think this is a common verse so to make your writing more intresting you would used a better and uncommon statement . besides, the rest of the writing is straight and clear .

Undergraduate / How my environment shape my career aspirations [3]

i really like your piece of writing . Your writing surly reflects your love for environment but i think you should work out more in the engineering part . Why do you particular want to study environmental ENGINEER and why not environmental science ? If you could focus a bit on the engineering part then i think your writing would be perfect .

Undergraduate / Why did you chose this major?--Bucknell supp [3]

Please help me with this question .I am confused if this asnswer works for Bucknell university.Do i sound direct and boring ?

Why did you decide to chose this major?

I am a very attentive and curious student when it comes to exploring the relation between nature, science and human. I was always fascinated about how human life style was influenced by nature and technology. During my high school I had very good score in physical subjects like mathematics, physics and chemistry. It was difficult for me to choose a major that matched my interest and my potential. I went through various catalogue of engineering program. I then decided to choose environmental engineering as my first major.

Undergraduate / Personal essay - Bucknell university. The red ribbon. [2]

This essay is a bit long but please give some time to read it and give comments.

The red ribbon

At ten minutes past one, I tied my shoelace tightly and folded my white socks so it would not look too long. I sat for a while on my bed. My breath was long and heavy. I could feel the chemical change in my body suddenly giving me goose bumps. A tinkling feeling in my stomach soon followed it; therefore, I ran towards the rest room. I came out and looked at my watch. 10 minutes left. From the corridor window of the girls' hostel, I could still hear the faint melody that was being played in the ground by the school band.

I thought to go and tell the coach that I had a severe headache so that I could skip the race. However, this was the last tournament of the year, and the first time I was going to participate in a track event at Budhanilkantha School. The first year had gone in freshman introduction to rules and a long list of syllabus to cover. Besides, seniors were always there to help with the participation; however, now being a senior my self felt good .I looked at my watch. 5 minutes left. I took off my spectacles and cleaned it. I made it sure that it would not fall. Then in a slow pace, I went towards the ground. There was a huge crowd of students around the track. Each of them was wearing his/her respective house shirt. From a distant, it seemed like a beautiful piece of mosaic. Everyone there knew who would win. I knew it too. It was not I. Nevertheless, I still did not give up. After all, all those long hours of daily marathon practice, which I had to undergo in my previous secondary school had made me tough and gave me a reason to try.

I got the third lane of the track. I positioned myself and waited for the handclasps to bang. For the first time in my life, despite having participated in several sports events, I felt restless and nervous. To relief the tension, my thoughts desperately started to wander about unconnected ideas. The Physics numerical that I had to practice for the class test, the unfinished report of the junior hostel surveillance (which was one of the important duties to be done by a school prefect by the end of each month), the math chapters that I had to tutor the two junior students. And Bang! The race had begun.

My glasses started to shake as I ran .My vision was bit vague, however, I was very cautious not to cross my lane. After a while, everything around me went in a silent mode. I just saw the faint line ahead of me that appeared to be red. I ran fast. Every time I blinked, I saw myself nearer to the ribbon.I ran faster. The cheering then grew into a scream and began to hit my ears. I do not know exactly when the ribbon fell because at that moment, it was the only thing, which made no noise.

I was tired. Every bit of energy in me had been drained off. The heat inside my body made my lungs boil. When I was desperately waiting for someone to give me water, instead I felt a cool hand holding my right arm and shout, "First". My thirst was quenched by then.

It was neither a national tournament nor any inter school competition. It was just an intra-school 100m race. By the end of the day, I was given a certificate and some applaud. For many people, it may not be a significant achievement; however, for me, every time, I remember it, I smile to myself - After all, it was worth something. It was worth a try.

Undergraduate / Diligent. Inspirational. Open minded - Three words to describe me [5]

i think your writing has got lots of arrogance .

Diligent. Inspirational. Open minded. Look up these words in the dictionary and my picture would be next to each of them.

I think this statement is too straight forward. You could tell them by giving examples as mmmargarita has suggested . You have to work a lot in this piece.

Undergraduate / yale supplement -- i am defined by who i actually am [4]

i too agree with mmmargarita. If you have thought to apply Yale then there should be something extraordinary about the ordinary. I hope you understand.Write something ordinary but let it explain your character.
