In the past, buildings often reflected the culture of a society but today all modern buildings look alike and cities throughout the world are becoming more and more similar.

What do you think is the reason for this, and is it a good thing or a bad thing?

Many centuries ago people used to build their buildings utilizing the materials available in their own land. Few decades ago, people have started to import materials from other countries in order to build their own buildings. This change of building materials has impacted in many people's opinion and views. Travelers who visit different cities around the world today found that famous buildings are similar to each other as if they have visited this city before.

Due to globalization trend, many countries have started to adopt standards of some famous international construction companies to build their buildings. The reason behind this could be the security and the quality of their building construction. For example, Dubai has moved to construct their buildings following the standard of the international construction companies, in fact, Khalifa Tower is one for the most famous building in Dubai that was designed by Mr. Eric Tomich.

On the other hand, people have divided to two opinions. Some people believe that this change of building style has affected many travelers' aim. Travelers were willing to see building different from place to other for more enjoyment. However, other people believe that such change will provide more building reliability and secure due to the good standard of the intentional construction companies. For example, when I read about Japan I feel that I am going to stay in a beautiful Japanese traditional house Nagaya, however when I visited Japan in 2006 I stayed in a 5 star hotel that is similar very much to the one I see in Dubai.

In conclusion, the change of building style has become fact and people have started to adopt. Some people did not like the idea very much while others liked the idea of the new style.

Every four years, the whole world gathers in one country to watch a crucial international sport occasion such as the Football World Cub. Some people around the world believe that this kind of event will result into relieving tension between hostile countries and easing patriotic emotion to be in save way. Others argue that these type of occasions might develop troubles between countries.

Many people believe that international sports events such as World Cub can bring people of different ethics, color and language together in one place. That will reduce tensions between them. They will forget the problems between each of them. Players will shake hands before the game that indicate peace and respect. For example, during the world cup 2010 shortlist, Saudi Arabia has played against Iran. Both team showed a respect of each other by shaking hands before and after the match.

On the other hand, other people believer that such occasion could result into more tensions between hostile countries. Each Team willing to show their best effort and performance to make their country proud of them. Therefore, both teams might make troubles during the match. Unless, the organizer of the event has well prepared the occasion in order to prevent such sad ending. For example, during world cup 2010 shortlist, Egypt and Algeria played a match in Sudan that turned out to be sad and both countries were about to declare war.

In conclusion, the aim of the international sports is to reduce the tensions of people's patriotic and to be practice in safe way. Therefore, some opinions argue that this kind of sport will further increase the risk of tensions and might turned out sadly. Personally, I believe if the event organizer prepare it will, it will be successful.

Essays / As computers are being used more in education, there will be soon no role for teacher [5]

In the last decades there have been immense advances in technology in most aspect especially in the field of education. Nowadays, a large number of students rely in computers to research for information and to produce a perfect paper work for their homework. Regarding the use of computer in education, there are two schools of thought. Some people argue that this computer will die out teachers' role in classroom while this is refuted by others.

Most of universities and schools have adopted computers for their students. Students today can do more school work in better formatting by using computers. One of the most advantage use of computer is when it comes to distance learning. Distance learning have been adopted world wide. Students today can save time and effort through distance learning. However, distance learning can not be useful without availability of computer and Internet access. Therefore, people who support the opinion saying computer will replace teachers in school argue that this opinion will be true in the coming years.

On the other hand, there are some people with other opinion argue that present of teachers are important in class and it hardly can be mimicked by computers. Teachers' role in class is not only delivering knowledge but also can go further. They can interact with students' emotion and try to support their pressures sometimes they go through. Teachers are also able to discover students' deficiency and able to resolve it.

In conclusion, there are two schools of opinion regarding the replacement of teacher by computer. Some people argue that, teachers will be replaced by computers in near future, while others claim that computer can not teach emotional feeling of the students. I personally believe that teachers and computers present in school today are mandatory and both of them need each other.

It has been said, "Not everything that is learned is contained in books." Compare and contrast knowledge gained from experience with knowledge gained from books. In your opinion, which source is more important? Why?

For many centuries, people have used to document their knowledge in books from being lost. Generally, there are two types of gaining knowledge, practical and theoretical. People may have different opinions, however, I do believe that both (practical and theoretical) have advantages and both of them are important to enrich someone's knowledge. Knowledge that learned from books are instructive and can be lost fast while knowledge learned from experience is demonstrative and can be last for long time.

Firstly, books today are important because not everything can be experienced. Sometimes obtaining knowledge from experience is costly and time consuming, therefore, books would be better solution. Knowledge from books can help us understand things quickly. On the other hand, data we get from books can be easily forgotten. Researchers approve that most of the knowledge we gain from books is contained in temporary storage of our brains and it is called short terms memory in fact, it will be removed quickly. In order to make it permanent it must go through experience. Personally, when I complete reading such book unfortunately 80% of the information will lost after one week time.

On the other hand, the practicability is one of the most essential factore of knowledge. Learning through experience is more beneficial than learning from books. Experience provide first hand information and gives self satisfaction. For instance, we can't ride bicycle by reading the instruction, we have to practice it many times. When I was in university, one day I noted that the telephone program coding I did on the Math Lap software stayed in my memory for long time since I experienced the telephone coding myself.

To conclude, both learning sources, books and experience, are important. It can be inferred that it is better to try to learn things practically as long as it is possible because it boosts our confidence and provides a better understanding of a subject. There is a proverb says "to see it to believe it".

Nowadays, food has become easier to prepare. Has this change improved the way people live? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

The twentieth century has brought with it many advances especially in the term of food preparation. The food preparation system has become easier and faster to prepare due to the advance and the development of cooking appliances as well as preprocessed or precooked food. On the other hand, food has lost many of its useful elements.

To begin with, the preparation of food has become easier and faster than ever before. The scientist has developed many kind of technology especially cooking appliances. For example microwaves, refrigerators, oven stove etc. Those appliances have played a big role in making food preparation easier and faster. Today, people have time for recreation. They have time to spend with their family, read their favorite books, study for their school etc. In addition, the preprocessed or precooked food has made people life happier. People can easily find them in supermarket with reasonable price. It takes few minutes to be ready for eating.

In spite of that, today food has lost its main benefit, as some people argued. Their argument states that food today have not yet the essence of "complete meal" as defined by nutritionist. In fact, many medical reports have been released in the last decades warning people from depending upon such fast meal in their food. Other reports indicated a high potential of malnutrition among those who are addicted to fast food.

In conclusion, it can not be doubted that our eating style has encountered a revolutionary change in the last few decades. The fast development in cooking machines has made food preparation easier and faster, however some useful elements of the food has lost its essence.

It is obvious that people or students attend college for many reasons. Some attend to learn new knowledge, others attend for gaining a degree and others for improving their skills.

The university is considered as new experience for the student where he/she can learn new knowledge. There are a variety of information student can learn such as physics, math, sience, etc. The student also will enjoy selecting their own topic and will enjoy the interaction with other new students as well as professional teachers.

On the other hand, other students attend university for the sake of degree. Which will help them to get a good job with better salary. Because the world today put too much value on the degree of university specially from a well known universities. Moreover, the higher the grade point average the bigger the chance for better job and salary.

Some of high school graduate student attend university in order to gain new skills. For instance, those who join music class, paints, etc. the more skills student gain the wider job opportunity they may get.

In conclusion, joining college or university for newly high school graduated students is highly considered for many reasons. Either to gain knowledge, get a dgree or to improve their skills. Attending university is now mandatory for student to be accepted for better work.
