Writing Feedback / Neo-Classical Art, White House - Essay [NEW]

"By the last quarter of the 18th century a new style "Neo- Classical Art" emerged, one that artists embraced throughout Western Europe" (Neo- Classical Art study Guide) . It "inspired by the increasing quantities of ancient art being excavated at Pompeii and Herculaneum, artists began to turn to the style and subjects of Classical antiquity, which provided a refreshing contrast to the theatricality of baroque and the artificiality of rococo" (Cunningham and Reich) . We can find varieties of examples were using this style. For example Jean Antoine Houdon and Canova was both chief sculptor of that time. Houdon even worked on the George Washington statue.

"In the past 200 years, the White House has become symbolic of the American Presidency throughout the world" (White House). Its construction began in October, 1792. One of the reasons why White House connected to the Neo-Classic style is "American Revolution turned naturally to classical architecture for their public buildings" (Cunningham and Reich). Thomas Jefferson built the White house at Pennsylvania Avenue. "While the Capitol represents the freedom and ideals of the Nation, the White House stands for the power and statesmanship of the chief executive" (White House).

I live in capital city of Mongolia. I saw some familiar image of Neo-Classic style. I think our Central library and Grey Palace built in around 18th century. So it might be Neo-Classical style. White House is magnificent historical building and home of United States America.

Writing Feedback / Discussion about what I learned this semester [2]

Time goes by so fast. I didn't realize it's time to end up the course. I always wanted to know about the how the culture emerged. In this course I covered chapter nine through sixteen and delved into the Humanities through a social, historical, and cultural perspective. This course contained the periods: Carolingian, Gothic, Florentine Renaissance, High Renaissance, Northern Renaissance, Baroque, Meso-American African, Chinese, and Japan. I extremely liked the High Renaissance period including the great painter Leonardo Da Vinci, and sculptor Brunelleschi's the Duomo. Students may knew their interest from art like I do. The most important things I learned are how to use MLA citation style, proofreading, and the time management

This is the discussion about what I learned this semester. Could you check this for me.

Dissertations / Discussion about the Baroque age [3]

During the Baroque period, people were attracted to by extremes of feeling and learned themselves and the world. The one of the reason why science and philosophy affected to the Baroque age is skepticism was growing in religious beliefs, Reformation and Counter-Reformation broke out. So scientists were more able to do things without any religious thought. But the most of the scientists were convicted because of they were heresist. Another reason is people started to believe scientific truth of power. Baroque age was great invention period. For example, Galileo designed and built his own telescope, Fahrenheit invented system of measuring temperature, and Leibnitz invents new notations of calculus.

Writing Feedback / William Shakespeare, achievement in English Literature [NEW]

William Shakespeare

The supreme achievement in English Literature of the time and perhaps of all time may be found in the works of William Shakespeare (Cunningham and Reich367). Shakespeare's baptism registered in April 26, 1564; maybe after three or four days before baptism. Shakespeare was born in Stratford to the family Shakespeare. His father, John Shakespeare, was the glover and tenant farmer. Shakespeare used to give money for his parents since he was fifteen. He attended Stratford's Grammar school, focusing intensely around Greek and Latin literature, rhetoric, and Christian ethics. His life is so questionable and his chronologies are still not known.

During his life, he wrote a lot of great works including tragedy, comedy, historical subject, and romance. The Hamlet, Ling Lear and other Shakespearean plays performed in the Globe Playhouse. He wrote more than forty plays. "In 1594-5 Shakespeare wrote his first masterpieces, "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and "Romeo and Juliet," and soon a second brilliant tetralogy on English history starting with "Richard II" and his first "Henry IV" play in 1595-6" (Shakespeare study guide).

Shakespeare was very well educated in English and "one of the greatest in any tongue" (Cunningham and Reich 366). During the first half of the sixteenth century, "William Caxton introduced the printing press into England" (Cunningham and Reich 364). One of the reason Shakespeare's work can connect to the modern day is he translated his works over sixty languages and printed. He also followed the intellectual property. And plus his great intelligence and creativity. I thinks most people know about his "Romeo and Juliet" and the greatest writer for me.

Writing Feedback / The Italian Duomo - Summary Essay [NEW]

The Italian Duomo

Flippo Brunelleschi was born in Florence, Italy 1377. He studied other buildings from antiquity and Roman Pantheon. Italian Renaissance painter Brunelleschi was originally trained as goldsmith and sculpture, but later changed his interest to architecture.

He built his famous masterpiece Santa Maria del Fiore, known as, the Duomo in Florence. The Duomo was the biggest magnificent cathedral; it began in the XII century and ended in the early XIV century. During his work, he had chance to work with few famous people: Leonardo, Giorgio Vasari, Federico Zucclhari, and even Michelangelo told his thought for Brunelleschi. They painted all the frescos with specific features. For example, they depicted The Last Judgment on the wall.

"How to construct the saint Mary of the Flower?" (Cunningham and Reich 287). Then he needed to answer this question. At that time, there was no easy way to build that oversize dome without any support. However, using some marvels techniques plus his knowledge, he figured out how to build the Duomo. Brunelleschi's solution was using a double shell classical vaulting, fly buttressing, and ring. These helped to uphold the force which is self supporting.

Today, the dome is not much changed. It is because dome was built so firm. The Italian Duomo is one of the historical places that tourists want to see. There are several interesting facts about the Duomo. "One of the most important reasons to see the Duomo is the dome itself; it's cupola. Another, fact that the dome can be seen from all over the city as well as from the surroundings, like Piazzale Michelangelo, the small town of Fiesole, and so on" ( " Travel Beats" ). Last the dome took long time to complete. I wish I saw the wonderful dome in one day.

Writing Feedback / Comparison and contrast of Leonardo da Vinci and Masaccio [NEW]

During the fourteenth century, Masaccio and Leonardo da Vinci were two of the most influential Florentine painters. Their view on this from one hand is very different, but on the other it had a lot of similarities. The Early Renaissance was a time of clear contrast between the horrors of natural and social disasters and the growing of artists and cultural movements that were the sign in Italy.

Everyone knows about Mona Lisa of Leonardo da Vinci. Leonardo (1452-1519) came from a small Tuscan town near Florence called Vinci. He has been called "the genius of the Renaissance". His famous, significant arts were The Last Supper, Mona Lisa, and Madonna of the Rocks.

Masaccio, originally named Tommaso Guidi, was born in San Giovanni Valdarno, near Florence, on December 21, 1401. He joined the painters' guild in Florence in 1422. He is also genius as Leonardo. The Holy Trinity, The Tribute Money and Expulsion of Adam and Eve are his best artistic works.

Leonardo's uncommon function is he always brings "Notebooks" which he used to write his visionary minds and thoughts. He was keen on anatomy and natural worlds of geology and botany. He came very close to discovering the circulation path of blood.

Masaccio's remarkably individual style owed little to other painters, except possibly the great 14th-century master Giotto. He was more strongly influenced by the architect Brunelleschi and the sculptor Donatello, both of whom his contemporaries were in Florence. His most specious difference is in "the utilization of space".

In conclusion, they both had knowledge of mathematic besides drawing great pictures. Their paintings showed not only realism in the figures, but also informed sense of humanity. Leonardo and Masaccio did historical, valuable role in their paintings and they were leading many good artists.

This is comparison and contrast essay. could u check this for me.

Book Reports / Miller's Tale, summarizing paper [NEW]

Hello this is summarizing paper. I chose the character NIcholas. And can u tell me that how do I use the source I use. And please check this for me, Thank you

Miller's Tale

Geoffrey Chaucer (1340-1400) who is the greatest English writer wrote Miller's Tale in fourteenth century. He is not only original works of poetry writer, but also translator from Latin and French of the thirteenth century allegorical erotic fantasy. Miller's Tale is a polished romance which is about a student (Nicholas) who persuades his jealous old carpenter's much younger wife (Alisoun) who is beautiful to spend the night with him.

Nicholas was a faint and very private who is full of secret love and pleasures. Astrology was his passion. He was living in boarding house by himself. Sometimes he played zither and sang "The Angel to the Virgin" at night. Nicholas asked from Alisoun to love him. First she ignored but then she fallen love with him. Nicholas was waiting all night in separate tubs suspended from the blocks, and to cut their tubs from the roof when the flood has risen. Nicholas told that if the carpenter tells anyone else people will think he is mad. Then it allows Nicholas and Alison the opportunity to sneak down, after the carpenter falls asleep, and make love.

I can't identity Nicholas and Absolon. None of them did right thing about to love with someone's wife which means they didn't follow the social custom. But Nicholas was aggressive with the Absolon who is parish clerk and also wants to love longing with the Alisoun. Absolon had violence to Alisoun to get her. And he even, claimed, falsely to enter her room without any permission. In the end it says "This tale is done, and God save all of us!"

Writing Feedback / Humanities summarizing paper [4]

this is the humanities summarizing paper. And my teacher wanted me to use at least one quote using MLA form. Could check all of it? is it make sense?. I need this before 9pm. thanks

"In the eleventh century, after a long period of desolation and warfare, Europe began to stir with new life." After a long time of waste and fighting, European renaissance started. A large number of crusades who did not believe in the Christianity began to travel in all over the Europe at that time. In XI-XII century, construction work was accomplished by monks and under Romanesque's instruction. Romanesque was the natural talented and Roman architecture. They built fabulous, valuable and historical church and monastery. Romanesque used a lot of specific design to build such as heavy stone, exterior decoration, and sculpture. All works were done by not only advantages and but also accidental disadvantages which is wooden part were easy to catch the fire.

From the floor to the root, all things had their own special meanings. They finally succeeded by extremely hard work force. In my opinion, one of the important thing they were trying to show us was, the people who don't believe the God, they would suffer misfortune in one day. And also they attempted to lead `gospel to everybody in the world.

Essays / Help on Humanities paper (Gregorian chant) [NEW]

I need help on Humanities paper. I am not sure I didn't make any mistake. thank you
The original Gregorian chant creator is Charlemagne (742-814) who is emperor of the Roman Empire in Saint Peter's Basilica. He was an essentially contributed person an art, education and music. He brought monks from Rome to stabilize and reform church music. This authority may tell how much he liked the church music. Roman music represented one tradition- later called Gregorian chant.

Gregorian chant was monophonic which is, one or many voices sang a single melodic line. While I was listening the snippets of Gregorian chant, I realized that they had not used any instrumental at that time. But sounds like amazing. Moreover, it's relaxing, no worries, and tranquility. The chant sung by men and women who got extremely strong voice. Another word is song created in capella.

In modern time, doctors may suggest to listen this music for who meditate. I could tell that song for relaxation, meditation, stress reduction, pain relief or tapping into one's soul. The song puts the people in a place where they feel very presence of God. I'm truly enjoyed.
