Undergraduate / 'elastic material's ability to absorb the energy'; Spring = Me? [2]

What attribute of your personality are you most proud of, and how has it impacted your life so far? This could be your creativity, effective leadership, sense of humor, integrity, or anything else you'd like to tell us about(200-250)

In physics I learned about an elastic material's ability to absorb the energy that is being forced on it in order to return to its equilibrium state after the compressing or stretching force has been uplifted. Resilience is the ability for one to return to his/her normal routine after being pressured by an outside force. I believe I have been blessed with this trait were coping with an adversity may seem hard at first, but in the end the persisting force will be upheaved letting the string to originate back to its initial form.

The proverbial phrase "when life gives you a lemon, make lemonade" evades my mind when faced with difficulty. Although the words of wisdom translate very easily, the true definition of this phrase holds more depth than it lets on. For instance, it can be considered as a way of turning something sour to sweet, or turning bad incidents to beneficial ones, but to me this adage turns into a lifeline one which bases a standard of using all the available supply or situation to turn the tables around and set my own rules down and turn yesterday's bitter incident into tomorrow's sweet refreshment.

Resilience does not only mean coming back to my original state, it signifies my rising from the ashes into becoming a better and stronger person that can handle whatever else might get thrown at me.

Undergraduate / "How", is engineering's key word, "Why" is the medicine's - find answers for both of these questions [2]

Although you may not yet know what you want to major in, which department or program at MIT appeals to you and why? (*) (100 words or fewer)

"How", is engineering's key word to reach his or her ultimate goal to fully comprehend every detail of life's aspects. "Why", is the medicine's key word in understanding all that goes around and all that comes in. Finding a field that answers both of these questions and many more was challenging before being introduced to the innovative field of Biomedical Engineering. Many universities do not offer the established field as a major, but at MIT this field is not only offered as a major, but also focused upon as a profession that deals with the mechanics of the human body.

Undergraduate / The Beatles song "Money Can't Buy Me Love" inundated my ears upon my birth. [2]

We know you lead a busy life, full of activities, many of which are required of you. Tell us about something you do for the pleasure of it. (*)(100 words or fewer)

I was brought into this world with the sound of music, since one of the nurses forgot to turn off her phone off and so The Beatles song "Money Can't Buy Me Love" inundated my ears upon my birth. Music has played a huge role in my life from the nights in which I stayed up with my arms slung over a guitar or my fingers dancing over the keys of the piano, to the conversation starters about the best band of all time or best guitar names. Music has taken over the lives of many, but it shaped mine.

Undergraduate / Difficulty need not foreshadow despair or defeat. Rather achievement can be all the more satisfying. [5]

I think that the paragraph
"Sir, please trust me with this one. These students are pouring their all into making the summit a success. As for keeping up with class, I'll take responsibility for that. My friends and I are willing to tutor them." Adrenaline-induced Leiya was right. I couldn't give up on the summit now, not when so many people were involved. My mind was set. Even the teachers couldn't shake me.

is really unnecessary since you are diverting from the main topic. talk about how your culture and how it affects you or the problems at home and how you conquer them

Undergraduate / I am an American Palestinian but - I can not identify myself with either or the other. [2]

Please tell us more about your cultural background and identity in the space below (100 word limit).
I am an American Palestinian; most people disagree when I say this stating that my nationality is American then I am American, or my ethnicity is Palestinian then I am Palestinian, but I can not identify myself with either or the other. I was born in a western culture society, yet raised under a middle eastern roof; my native language is Arabic, yet I excel in English. My parents have taken the best out of both cultures to cultivate the fondness of family and the respect of honesty to plant a seed that forms my nature in dealing with people.

Undergraduate / New York University is a mural painted by generations of students [5]

NYU is global, urban, inspired, smart, connected, and bold. What can NYU offer you, and what can you

New York University is a mural painted by generations of students. Each stroke represents a different student. Where each student represents him/her self by the color, shade, and design that depicts what he/she has contributed to the university. When I attend NYU I will provide a vibrant, flamboyant color to the mural that stands out yet fits in the painting.

The color and design I pick will delineate me. The color will be a bright, upbeat to represent the positive spirit and enthusiasm I will bring to the campus. The shade of color that I will choose, will be one with great depth, one that will hold the meaning of creativity yet discipline; fun yet seriousness. The color I add to the painting, that has already been painted by inspirational classes, will be one to stand out.

The color is not only what will make the movement I formed with the brush stand out, but also the technique I use to . With a single stroke of the brush, I will connect the art of the past classes to the art of the current and future classes. My paintbrush will dance across the wall to make a shape that is delicate and firm; representing the help I will preform I will provide to the staff and students, but still abide to the rules and never cross the lines. NYU is a well established piece of art work that has many tones to emphasize its network of teachers, students, etc.

Every single drop of paint contributes to the whole picture, just like how every students provides a piece of him/her self to NYU. No artwork is ever perfectly complete, since more color and creativity can always be added to make a much more aesthetic portrait, but I hope my single choice of hue and style will be one to stand out and be an inspiration for future painters.
