Scholarship / My household chores are quite simple. Showing how I contribute to my household [2]

Please help me restructure this essay, kind of confused!

In a community where everyone assumes responsibility either directly or indirectly, such society I grew up.

At Enugu where I was born: we were born three sons of my mother of which I am the second son. Being independent has always been the order of the day, involving in various activities such as going to the farmland, fetching water before the advent of borehole, and fetching firewood. Every chore was carried out collectively in unity.

Therefore, I am actively involved in the cooking, farming, washing of cloths, and keeping the environment tidy as the saying goes "cleanliness is next to godliness". At this stage I do not pay bills because I was still schooling as the bills was catered for by my parents.

At Lagos where I live: I support to pay some bills because I have a full time job that I do to meet some of our urgent emergency need.

#2
Please explain: if you were to receive this Scholarship, how will your household responsibilities be taken care of in your absence?

The thought on who would assume responsibility becomes worry of the past as a scholar. This is because in my family, we have been trained to be independent from a very tender age. In my family, we are all grown up young men for which each an everyone of us contributes directly or indirectly to make the family harmonious as the saying goes "united will stand and divided will fall".

In terms of chores like fetching firewood, fetching water, and farm work, my immediate elder and younger brothers takes over the responsibility. There's available pipe borne water for the entire community of which tap is situated in my compound. Labourers would be hired when necessary to assist in fetching firewood and in farm work. In cooking and other chore, my mother would take care of it.

Therefore, being a scholar would be advantageous to my family because it has always been our desire to study on scholarship in the international level as we could not afford studying abroad independently without solid financial backbone. Though, my absence would be felt for the duration of my study, but I strongly believed that they would employ every labour needed to meet up with the daily demand.

Summarily, I have been away from home for the past seven years in Lagos where I completed my secondary, and college education and started working there too. Despite that, my family chores have always been done.

Thanks for granting me the opportunity to express myself.

Scholarship / Highlight what you believe to be the most important issue facing your country today [2]

Please help me restructure this essay if need be.

Highlight what you believe to be the most important issue facing your country today (for example, economic, education, healthcare, social or public policy) and articulate how achieving a Bachelor's degree from the University of X, through Y Scholars Program, will empower you to tackle this issue and related challenges, in your home country.

Corruption and bribes: People especially the poor get hurt when resources are wasted. That's why it is so important to understand the different kinds of corruption to develop smart responses. I shall be empowered to fathom and develop smart devices such as computerized satellite systems and artificial intelligence that would monitor the activities and progress of the government, businessmen and non-governmental organisations.

Negligence: I shall be empowered to create pathways that give youths relevant tools to engage and participate in their governments - identify priorities, problems and finding solutions as Canadian youths does.

Terrorism and Crime: Boko Haram insurgency, Niger Delta militant group, home violence, cybercrimes has posed harms or threat to Nigerians. Insecurity has become the other of the day because government has failed her citizens. I shall be empowered to build intelligence (Robotics) based technology to combat crimes and terrorism in the state.

Environmental and public health issues:-oil spills, littered waste and improperly disposed garbage pose threat to environment and public health of the masses. Using the power of technology to build dynamic and continuous exchanges between key stakeholders, government, citizens, business, civil society groups, media, academia would harness this issue which my degree will offer.

Inadequate infrastructures: I shall invest in institutions and policy - sustainable improvement in how to deliver innovation packed services such as power supply, water resources and public health issues.

Civic pride and Patriotism: Nigeria suffers from a deficit of civic pride and collective responsibility. This lack of civic engagement has real economic consequences. I shall be empowered to offer more opportunities for youths to participate in the government, economy and society- youth empowerment and initiative program.

Unemployment: Unemployment is a hot issue in Nigeria and many people are frustrated with widespread of joblessness. Unemployment is like a disease its cure is not yet discovered. I believe after my degree, I shall build companies that will later grow to become a conglomerate with the aim of increasing employment rate.

Tribalism: Preferential treatment. One of my aims after my degree is to use the power of technology to create a lasting peace and unity amongst Nigerians.

Gender Inequality: Countries that suffer from chronic fragility, conflict and violence resulting from gender inequality- are often the ones that have the fewest internal resources to combat corruption. I shall identify ways to leverage international resources to support and sustain good governance.

Scholarship / Oh Death! I was eighteen, in senior secondary three, when my father died; figure or movement inspire [7]

Kindly assist me proofread the following write-ups. Your idea(s) will help. Thank you.

#1 Describe a figure or movement which has provided inspiration within your own life

Oh Death! I was eighteen, in senior secondary three, when my father died; I came to realize that my mother and my immediate elder brother were the only important mortals in my life that very same day because my trusted uncles, half-brothers and half-sisters abandoned my basic needs; right to education. Mummy covered me with maternal protection and made sure that the absence of a father figure would not pose any harm or threat to me in any way. She became my mother, father, and financial source, the strong woman who pioneered our new age family. Vividly, those around us said she was weak and would be unable to care for me. She proved them all wrong.

Rather than losing hope, she conscripted on, waking up at 5 AM in preparation to go to her farmland where she cultivates two and half plots of land with rice, cassava, and maize. Finding her inner strength to go from farmland to another, even going to the coterminous town to source for seeds and labourers, which she would pay them just to make ends meet for our family. She would only come home at 7 or 8 PM on daily basis.

My immediate elder brother never abandoned me, rising very early for his daily routine business as a commercial motorcyclist popularly known as 'Okada' while studying. All of their sacrifices portend to support me. Provide shelter, food, and basic needs for me, never thinking of keeping anything from me. They thought I did not notice all of their sacrifices when indeed; I was being inspired by their actions.

Our life together has been an uphill struggle because my uncles abandoned us. My father's non-returning adventure to an unending world (death) was the best thing that could have happened to me because it showed me who my true inspiration in life should be, my mother (Mrs X) and my immediate elder brother (Mr Y). That is why I have decided that their sacrifices shall not be for naught. I will become a superior person because of their sacrifices, pushing myself to work harder than anyone else and being persistent when it comes to pursuing my education. I am their inspiration to do well in life; they are my inspiration to do better as well. Together, we inspire one another to achieve the best that our life together has to offer.

One essay at one time please

Scholarship / I am determined to get my degree and have a rewarding career afterwards. Plans for the next 4 years [3]

please assist me to check if there is any grammatical error and whether this essay answers the prompt

If you do not receive the scholarship, what are your plans for the next four years?

The desire to make ends meet on daily basis has always been the ultimate goal of my family. The financial deficit weighed down my family so much that finishing school, be it primary, secondary, or tertiary, was never a sure thing for my sibling and I. Yet it never deterred us from dreaming of and achieving ambitions that went far beyond the abilities of our station in life. Our determination to change our lives for the better has always been the propeller behind everything we do, regardless of disappointment, failure. That is why I know that even if I am unfortunate enough to not be awarded this scholarship, I will never give up on my ambition of university. Although it will be rough and may linger, I am determined to get my degree and have a rewarding career afterwards.

Presently, I am on full time teaching job to help my family with our immediate needs. I work harder than everyone else in the family because I am been propelled to cater for my own educational needs. More so, I know that without this scholarship, I will triple my efforts to work and earn the money needed to fund my university degree. Working part time and studying is not atrocious attribute for one to have and in my case, it will be only way that I can achieve my goals and ambitions in life.

Firstly, I will support myself because failure to do so, there won't be a reason for other people to desire to help me either as the saying goes "charity begins at home". So I will have to allow the change to begin from me, figuring out the perfect balance between work and study.

Sincerely, working and studying at the same time could have an adverse effect on my academic fortune. Provided I do not fail in any of my courses, then I have not failed as a student which I know that I will eventually achieve my set goals. Though, ''I walk slowly, but I never walk backward'' says Abraham Lincoln. Therefore, with or without this scholarship, I will by no means surrender my enthusiasm for going to university in order to have a fulfilling career. I have started making inquiries on procedures to earn my degree at indigenous university. I won't give up because it's not over; perseverance is the key that unlocks hidden treasures.
