Writing Feedback / Television for children. bad and good influences [6]

hello everybody,
please correct my essay, and give me some suggestions. I need to pass an exam in September. thank you very much.

Nowadays television has become a part of our life , and it has a big influence upon us. We as adults, don't have much time to watch it, especially if we have a job, but children usually spend lot of time in front of screen. Undoubtedly, in time, they get influenced by it and the problem is if that's a good or bad influence.

As tv has good and bad channels, hence very dangerous for children, I think the family has a huge influence in their choice. If the child belongs to a good and educated family, probably they will monitor his time in front of television, and the quality of programs as well. If the child belongs to an unorganized family or a family without moral values, is more likely that he will spend much time before screen ,and hence he will be negatively influenced .

In my opinion, television is a good tool, if we choose educational programs as ``Animal planet``, ``Discovery``, or sport channels. Especially sport channels are very good and educational, and they motivate children to practice a sport or to reach their goal in life. I remember when I was a child I was fascinated by figure skating and his heroes. Skaters like Nancy Kerrigan, Victor Petrenko or Surya Bonaly impressed me a lot through their work and perseverance, and motivated me to study more, in order to succed in school. ``Animal planet`` is also a good channel, a world which fascinates people who watch it. When I have a little time , it is my pleasure to spend it in front of screen, learning new and interesting things about animals' life. Therefore, if parents emphasis good habits in children, and urge them to watch good channels, they can take advantage, and learn a lot from television. If the whole family watches the news every night it is a good routine. Musical programs also are good because relieve stress, and give a feeling of comfort .The parents are the role model for their children, and if they will avoid the channels with negative influence, the children do the same.

On the other hand, the children who are not supervised and monitored by their parents tend to watch violent movies and cartoons, and even worse, they tend to act like their favourite characters. This can affect them psychically , they can get violent or rebel ,and it can even have consequences in adulthood. I have a neighbour whose child likes violent movies, and he watches them a lot. When I'm observing him, I can notice the difference between him and others, and it is visible his tendency to kick, scream, push or hit other kids. That is why parents need to set limits for their children , and to make a daily schedule for television. Violent movies or cartoons can have a negative impact upon children, and they should be avoided.

In my opinion, children should be motivated to watch educational channels that can have a good influence upon them. The good books turned into movies, can model their behaviour and even positively influence their character. Therefore, is parents' responsibility to supervise their children, to urge them to watch good channels, and to offer good movies.

Writing Feedback / READING FOR STUDENTS [4]

Hi everybody,
Please help me with some correction and suggestions . I need to pass an exam in order to get a job.Thank you very much.

Reading is to mind what exercise is to body. But I wander if in this era of computer and television children are willing to read. I think they are more willing to spend their time in front of screen. That is why in their formative years, school and family should emphasis children on reading. It is very important because reading helps in brain development , but television and computers are non- stimulated in brain growth .

In my opinion, reading has a lot of advantages , and it is the key to success. By reading, children expand and enrich their vocabulary , and gain a clear perspective on word usage. Also they get a better perspective of how to put thoughts to words in a better way, and help their writing skills ,as well. By reading they gain lots of information, and skills in handling complex ideas. The more they read, the more information they pick up. That leads to a core of knowledge, which is very useful in various classes. For example, my friend's daughter who graduated for high school this year, had had many projects for different classes. She had to write about genetically modified food, credit cards, globalisation, and such. She met many new and difficult terms, but I noticed that her previous reading years helped her a lot, and no other activity builds the vocabulary and comprehension skills as reading.

On the other hand, in addition to improving school progress , reading expands children's horizon. Without living the room, they can explore the frontiers of Old West or space .By reading, they can learn something useful or can have an advice from people who deal with the same problems like them. They can have a laugh just sitting in an armchair with a magazine, or travel around the world and space. Reading allows them to venture into the word of kings and empires and enriches their historical knowledge. My daughter was very excited to read books about princes and princesses, and because of them she loved History, and she was the best in her class.

Therefore, parents and teachers have the responsibility to improve children's reading habits. They should be motivated to read both in school and at home. In school, they should have a day a week for library . When I was a student in elementary school , the teacher gave us a list with the novels we had to read each year. We were also expected to have a notebook with all the novels summarised there. I was allowed to add stickers or to draw on the notebook, and it motivated me to read in order to draw something about the theme. In my opinion, it is a great motivation for children to read.

They could also be offered books that were turned into movies. The goal is to focus them on reading , and school should work with family as a team. The parents have to do a daily reading schedule with their children in the first years of school, in order to open their appetite for reading. Children really need to read books besides their curriculum , because reading is the key of success and it is beneficial for their future.

Writing Feedback / Students' motivation should come from teachers and family [7]

In order to love school and learning a child must be motivated. And motivation should come from teachers and from family. Even more, they should cooperate and work together for the good of the child , to encourage and motivate him in order him to have an increasing school progress.

First , a good motivation for a student in class, would be the very good teaching techniques . If the lesson is appealing and interesting for students, they will participate. A good teacher should motivate the class and make them curios about ongoing lesson. He has to sow in them an intellectual curiosity and also to wake up in them the desire to know and to acquire new and more knowledge. Another way of motivation could be praises. It stimulate and built the self-esteem, and teacher should use it daily for all students. In other words, he has to catch them doing something good, and to give them a positive feedback. A high self esteem plays a huge role in cognitive, affective and social development of students. Therefore , the class is the first place where they should be encouraged and motivated to learn . On the other hand, by using the power point program or other techniques to make the lessons clear and appealing, is another kind of motivation.

Secondly, a good management of class could be motivating , as well. If the teacher has the sense of humour ,and use it in dealing with discipline issues ,rather than irony or sarcasm, the students could be more willing to have a positive attitude for school. By respecting the students , in whatever situation , he can keep them positive, as well.

On the other hand , the children need attention, encouragement and motivation from their parents. Each parent should be aware of the huge role of motivation in his child's life. By being involved in school, by attending school's meetings or communicating with child's teacher, parents can motivate their child, and made him more determined to learn. For example, my daughter , who was in grade one ,liked to talk during the classes, and she was not very attentive. Her teacher called me, and I visited her as soon as I could. Her teacher was very nice, and we collaborated very well. When I got home, I talked to my daughter, I told her I visited her teacher and I explained her where she was wrong. I presented my expectations regarding her attitude in class and her work, and I assured myself that it was very clear for her. In a very short time I noticed a change in my daughter's behaviour ,and I saw her more interested in learning and more responsible. My intervention to her teacher motivated her and she became a hardworking and good student.

Motivation is the key of success for both children and adults. I think that a well motivated child will be a responsible and well motivated adult. That is why is our responsibility, as parents and teachers, in formative years, to model our children and influence them positively . If we offer them a good motivation to learn ,they will have a good and easy future.

Writing Feedback / Classroom management and discipline, practical every day. [5]

HI EVERYBODY,
PLEASE HELP ME WITH SOME CORRECTION. I NEED TO TAKE AN EXAM IN ORDER TO GET A JOB. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

Classroom discipline and management causes the most fear and consternation in new teachers. However, classroom management is a skill that is not only learned, but practiced every day.

In my opinion, teachers should start the school year with a discipline plan. Because students quickly assess the situation, the teacher must start with the best classroom management and discipline techniques. On the other hand, I consider that is very important to build relationship with the students from the beginning. An idea could be to find out what their interests are. If they are interested in sport it is interesting to know what their favorite team is. The students will be pleasantly surprised when teacher take an active interest in their life.

Firstly, the teacher has to sets limits, to establish classroom rules and stick to them. In my opinion, the best rule for a classroom is "Respect." At the beginning of the year the class has to discuss what that rule means in regard to their work, their peers , teachers and personal and school property.. This rule means nothing unless the teacher follows it, as well. He has to model the expectation that he sets for the students at all times, even if a student is disrespectful. The teacher has not to respond in kind . He /she must respect them , and act fairly for all students, because they have a distinct sense of what is and what in not fair. I also consider teachers have to stop disruptions with a little humor instead of sarcasm

As a teacher, I like to avoid confrontation in class. I imagine that I am a teenager in front of 25 peers .How would I respond in a conflict if my reputation depends on my response to the teacher. Therefore, I consider is better to deal with discipline issues privately, speaking to disruptive student for a moment at the back of the room or directly outside the door. I think teacher should put the burden of responsibility on the student ,if he/she is not responsive to teacher respectful attempts. He can say something like this:" I really enjoy your participation in class. I hope that you decide to stay and participate in a positive way. If you choose not to, then you know the consequences. I hate to see you make that choice, but it is your to make. I cannot make you be a positive participant if you choose not to be.``

Secondly, I think the teacher should not forget motivation and praise as an important factor in classroom management. He should help students to see the reason behind their work, and to make it fun and attractive. In addition to keeping students fully engaged, ,which cuts down behavioral problem ,teacher should try giving positive feedback to each student every day. In other words, to catch them doing something right ,to praise and encourage them. Doing so, he will also build their self-esteem.

The classroom is a place where teacher and students spend their time ,and by implementing these strategies, many discipline problems either don't arise or are resolved easily.

Writing Feedback / Schoolyard: A good place for socialization. [2]

HI EVERYBODY,
THANK YOU FOR YOUR CORRECTION AND SUGGESTIONS. I NEED TO PASS AN EXAM IN ORDER TO GET A JOB. THANK YOU AGAIN FOR YOUR HELP.

SCHOOLYARD - A GOOD PLACE OF SOCIALIZATION

Socialization is one of the most important skills that we need, in order to interact with those around us. That is why the main school's goal, beside knowledge transmission is socialization. Hence, the schoolyard is one of the best plays of socialization. Children need to know how to socialize, and the best way to learn it is through play. Schoolyard is a place of playing, hence children play together, interact and communicate.

First ,the play help them improving communication's skills. They ask and answer questions, tell stories , make up stories and being together they learn more and more verbal and nonverbal communication. Through play, they develop cooperation and participation's skills, that allow them better socialize. By playing team games like soccer ,hockey or such, they support and encourage each others . Also they learn to share and to wait their turn. They solve games 'problems, make suggestions or offer alternatives .All of these help them to better socialize.

In my opinion, children need to have friends and to build relationships in order to improve their self-esteem and the sense of belonging. They need to be member of a class or of a team in order to build their sense of social satisfaction. Children without friends might report a low self-esteem that can lead to depression or even to same problems later on in life. I remember when my friend came to Canada, her daughter was only seven and she was very sad because she had any friend here. Al her friends remained in Europe. All the summer , the girl was very shy and she refused to talk. When school started, she got home crying each every day, in first months . As the time was passing, the girl was able to speak French and she started to communicate with her peers. She made a good friend, and soon she stopped coming home crying. She became to be the happy girl she was before coming to Quebec, and every day she told her mom how nice she played in schoolyard with her new friend.

On the other hand , it is true that some children , can face rejection or teasing in schoolyard, but even them, in time, can learn how to cope with it. In the same time ,it is also true that bulling exits , but that is less seen in primary school than in secondary. In bulling cases, I thing schoolyard is not a good place of socialization, and a better one would be a sport team or a club.

Even if in school bulling exists, I would prefer to sent my child to school, in order to socialize and to learn how to cope with rejection, than doing homeschooling. I know some children who make homeschooling and I consider they lack social skills. They are very shy, and they have a hard time to interact with other children. Because schoolyard offer to the children the opportunity of being and playing together, and hence to gain many social skills, I consider this place one of the best places of socialization.

Writing Feedback / Dropping out; Encouraging the student to get involved in extracurriculars. [4]

Hello everyone,
please help me with some suggestion and correction. .I need to pass an exam in order to get a job. thank you very much

Despite the efforts made by the schools and families , the rate of dropout is still high. The young people who don't complete their high school face many problems later in life, than do young people who graduate.

In my opinion, dropping out students have their own reasons. They dropout because they need to help out their families, or to start a new one . They might not like the school in general or the school they are attending, they might have disciplinary problems, or they were suspended or expelled. Many of them got a job, have a family to support or have troubles to manage both work and school. A different reason could be the marriage or pregnancy, as well as drugs, alcohol problems ,or even a low self esteem. Unsuccessful school performance may reduce self-esteem, and this can lead to frustrations with school or even to dropping out

Another factor which might lead to dropping out is the high level of parents expectation from the child. There are families, who , voluntary or not, require high performances from their children, which might be beyond his intellectual capabilities..They don't know their child's potential , and this one perceives the school too complicate for him, feeling that may lead to dropping out

Whatever their reasons, these young people don't realise how great the consequences of leaving school are . The importance of high school education as a minimum standard for employment has increased . Researchers have found that dropouts have a lower earning level , higher unemployment and a greater likelihood for criminal involvement.

These students need support and motivation to be kept positive for school, so it is the school and the family who have the responsibility to help them. I think that they should be involved in attractive extracurricular activities ,as sport competitions , artistic creation competition or computer game competitions. the school could also organise races between different teams or other activities, and the winners could receive symbolic prises , that can motivate them for school.

Another thing that school could do, is to organize mini-conferences with ex -students who dropped out years ago. They could tell about their experiences ,their current image about school, about the dropping out consequences and about their own image in society. They also could talk about their job . This could influence the school students ,who might even give up the idea of dropping out.

On the other hand, at home, in the family, the parents should monitories their children .I think that each parent should have his own way of knowing if the child completes the assignment ., if he is missing school, if he fails the classes or he lost the interest for school.

So, it is the family and school who can help the student . They have to work together ,closely like a team, to offer the support that can lead him to a positive motivation.. they have to develop strategies that encourage the student to get involved in extracurricular activities , to rest positive for school and to be optimistic for his future.

Undergraduate / Physician assistant narrative ("I always wanted to work in a health care field") [3]

I knew since I was young I always wanted to work in a health care field. I believebelieved it was my calling to take care of sick people. This is why I chose a health professional career as a respiratory therapist. I have been a therapist for nearly four years. I enjoyed every aspect of being a therapist in a hospital. As a therapist, I treat people who suffer from lung diseases illness which could derive from asthma, congestive heart failure, COPD, emphysema and etc. As a respiratory therapist, I educate people about theretheir respiratory disease. I tell them about theretheir disease and what they can do to improve theretheir daily life. What I like most about being a therapist is interaction with patients. I likedlike getting to know the patients and see what I can do to make theretheir days better. From assessing patients , I can determine if this person is in respiratory distress and if so what kind of distress. As a therapist, I enjoyed working with other health care professionals such as nurses, physicians, and physician assistants. I let them know I am very dependable and to notify me of any problems or concerns withabout their patient, not matter how little or serious it is. I believe it is the best to have open communication with co-workers in order to provide excellent patient care.

At this point in my life, I believe I am ready to pursue a career as a physician assistant. I have accomplished so much as a respiratory therapist. Now it is time to take the next step. I worked with physican assistant for couple of years. I wasn't interested in being a physician assistant until the day I observed the duties of physician assistant in the emergency room. I was told to give a patient a nebulizer tx (breathing treatment) by physician assistant. I went to the patient room and there was the physician assistant asking her patient several questions about his medical history. We were practically working in the same time on that patient. I was giving the pt his tx. The physician assistant was assessing the pt and giving a full explanation on what is going to be done for him. At home, I looked up for physician assistant on the internet. At that point, I was completely enthralled about my findings. A physician assistant performs examination and procedure, obtains medical history from pt, order treatment, diagnose illness, prescribe medication and etc. I knew I wanted to be a health care specialist who has more responsibility and more patient interaction. As a therapist, I did have patient interaction but it was very limited due to the fact I had multiple patient I had to take care of. I didn't always have time to speak with a pt for extended time. It was basically just follow the MD's order and treat the pt.

In conclusion, I have always believed it was my destiny to treat and take care of sick people. It something I will continue to do it until I retiredretirement . I enjoyed being a respiratory therapist for the last three years. However, I think it is time for me to pursue a new course and challenge in the medical field. I believe I would makebe an excellent physician assistant due to my compassion for patientscare.

Writing Feedback / The role of parents in school: students to study more and be responsible [6]

thank you very much for taking a look at it, and for your comments

The school is the place where the child spend daily a part of his time, and it has a main role in his life and in his family's life. For the good of the child, the family need to be involved in school and to work together like a team . in fact, contemporary research has already revealed the need for parents involvement to promote child 's success in school.

In my opinion, the parent has a huge role in child's school life. In addition to attend parents meetings, they should get involved in school activities or they can support their child in his good or best moments . the encouragement, the motivation or homework assistance can be also considered parents' involvement in school.

First ,the parents have to know the child's teacher and to communicate with him or her. The parents have to attend not only the first school parents meeting, but to visit the teacher during school year ,or to call her in order to get information about child's school progress.

I remember when my daughter was in fourth grade she was learning the division in a different way that I did when I was in school. I was not able to assist her, because I didn't know the method. So, I call her teacher and I asked an appointment . her teacher was very nice , and the day I visited her she showed me how they did divisions. I could practice home with my daughter and she improved a lot. Knowing that I started to communicate with her teacher , she felt more motivated and encouraged to study more.

Some parents want to be more involved in school, and they are members of different associations or committees . others, consider homework assisting , and meeting attendance sufficient , and they try to encourage the child more and more to get involved in class. In my opinion, a student, whose parents are interested in his school progress , is a good and hardworking student ,motivated as well, and he doesn't create problems in class. I have many friends who are involved in the school of their children and I noticed that the students' school results largely depend on parents assistance.

I can say that homework and assignments equally connect the school and parents by involving the child in learning process of their child. They have to have a positive attitude towards the school demanding , and to appreciate the teacher's role in order to facilitate trustworthy relationship . on the other hand , the parents have the responsibility of creating a routine of studying ,by having him working every day at the same time. They have also to encourage him to read , and to establish a daily studying and reading schedule with him.

The child need to feel that the parents are involved and interested in his school progress. That motivates him more and helps him to understand that there is a balance between school responsibilities and having fun. The children who know that their parents communicate with school are more determined to get positive results , are willing to study more and in time they become more responsible .

Writing Feedback / The ideal teacher: a missionary [4]

hi everyone,
can you read my essay and give some feedback , please?

The teacher is the person who sows not only the seeds of knowledge in his student , but also he has a influence upon their attitude toward the school, the people and the world that surround us. He has also a special influence in modeling his students, their features and their character .

That is why teacher profession demands many skills and abilities ,, and if these skills are innate , that would be ideal. Not everyone can practice this profession that demands a life surrounded by children. So, in my opinion, the person who wishes to become a good teacher should not only to want it , but to identify himself with the job. He must love children , and meet their needs. That kind of teacher should sum up the qualities not only of a teacher , but also of a psychologist and pedagogue . one of the twenty century's psychologist , J Boucher, wrote that pedagogy can be an effective art only if it back on the psychology .

I think that an innate teacher should have an innate prone to this profession ,which cannot be well done if the pleasure of doing it lacks. Another essential condition is patience , because not all the children have the ability of immediately understanding . the communicative competence is another feature of ideal teacher with innate qualities. if he has a great amount of knowledge , but he doesn't know how to transmit it , the students will be the ones who lose. He has to feel, not only the lesson ,but also the best way of transmitting this. He has to know to introduce in his lesson the esthetical dimension , that sensitizes the students , and encourage them to learn. In the other words he has to be ingenious, clever and inventive , because it is him that determine lesson success , and not lesson's structure , ( traditional or modern ). So, in order to do attractive and interesting lessons he has to be multi-tasking , and to have a good cooperation with his students, as well.

When I mention ``cooperation``, I mean not only , good teaching methods, but also a very good class management . he should intervene with respect and discreetly in different behaviour problem events , to prove tolerance and to have a appropriate working time . in my opinion a good teacher should often use humour and never sarcasm or irony. He should act in such a way that the different class events follow a continuous and clearly logic, in a relaxed atmosphere , conductive to a good learning.

On the other hand ,taking into account that each every child is unique , the teacher must be a good psychologist , and he has to know the potential of each student. He has to guide the students' efforts , to encourage them , and to work at their affective side in order to stimulate their confidence and their self esteem.

The teacher is always a missionary . he has to share with the students his vision about reality and his love for science and humanity by challenging in his students the creative spirit. He has to keep alive the fire of knowledge until the end. In that way, he is an archetype, and a model in everyday reality, a inexhaustible generator of consciousness for the new generations.
