Writing Feedback / THE LEVEL OF IMPRISONMENT in UK, Australia, NZ, US and Canada (IELTS GRAPH) [3]

This table illustrates the level of imprisonment in Great Britain,Australia,New Zealand,US and Canada over the period of 50 years.

In Great Britain the number of prisoners rose steadily from 30000 in 1930 to 80000 in 1980.However,the figures fluctuated in Australia and hit the lowest point in 1950 with around 47000 and reached a peak in 1970 with 70000 prisoners.Similarly, the amount of prisoners variated in New Zealand over the same period of years. In addition ,the figures almost double decreased from around 10000 in 1930 to nearly 50000 in 1950.Since 1950,it began to increase steadily in contrast to Australia. The prison population in US and Canada have also fluctuated over the same period of time.Generally, it has shown downward trend in US between 1940 and 1970,then the figures has risen dramatically to 130000 in 1980,which was the highest point among these countries. In comparison with US,Canada managed to keep downward trend relatively from 120000 in 1930 to 90000 in 1980.

Overall, there is a downward tendency in number of prisoners in above countries ,except US.Although we have to consider the amount of population, this indicator has shown sudden and sharp increase at the end of the period in US,this in turn gives danger signs for future.

Writing Feedback / Is Death Penalty needed for our lives to be more secured and have less crimes? [3]

Without capital punishment (the death penalty) our lives are less secure and crimes of
violence increase. Capital punishment in essential to control violence in society.
To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?
IELTS TASK

Throughout history the death penalty has been the most severe punishment that can be applied by states.Historically, the execution of law offenders and political opposites has been used to suppress political conflicts and punish crimes nearly by all communities. The essence of capital punishment in controlling violence in society is controversial issue. From this point of view, there are conflicting opinions in society.

There are 2 opposite sides have been formed on this issue such as Supporters and Opponents. The supporters argue that death penalty deters criminals from doing nasty things again and they deserve it in some circumstances. On the contrary, the opponents including me claim that it is the violation of right to life as proclaimed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Moreover,it is premeditated and cold -blooded killing of a human being by the state.Besides,it does not deter offenders from commiting crime again. For instance; There is higher rate of crime in USA which supports capital punishment compared with Europe which opposite to this penalty.Lately, minutes before executions due to the emergence of new evidence that some people forgiven, acquitted or allowed to open a new case. The other negative side of death sentence is that it prevents offenders to find right way and being a part of community again.Additionally,to know that someone somewhere was executed can be a bad conscience for the community and brutally executed methods can be wound psychology of people. In my opinion, the capital punishment must be changed with the life imprisonment which the most of democratic countries apply. To my mind it is more civilized way of solution.

In conclusion,I'd like to emphasize that the capital punishment is not the way out and it will not decrease the rate of crimes but only increase the level of psychological violence amid community. Therefore, all governments must search for new alternative methods and try to bring offenders back to the community as a part of society.

Essays / "The Story of an Hour" ; Ideas for research paper! [2]

"The Story of An Hour"

Kate Chopin (1894)

Knowing that Mrs. Mallard was afflicted with a heart trouble, great care was taken to break to her as gently as possible the news of her husband's death.

It was her sister Josephine who told her, in broken sentences; veiled hints that revealed in half concealing. Her husband's friend Richards was there, too, near her. It was he who had been in the newspaper office when intelligence of the railroad disaster was received, with Brently Mallard's name leading the list of "killed." He had only taken the time to assure himself of its truth by a second telegram, and had hastened to forestall any less careful, less tender friend in bearing the sad message.

She did not hear the story as many women have heard the same, with a paralyzed inability to accept its significance. She wept at once, with sudden, wild abandonment, in her sister's arms. When the storm of grief had spent itself she went away to her room alone. She would have no one follow her.

There stood, facing the open window, a comfortable, roomy armchair. Into this she sank, pressed down by a physical exhaustion that haunted her body and seemed to reach into her soul.

She could see in the open square before her house the tops of trees that were all aquiver with the new spring life. The delicious breath of rain was in the air. In the street below a peddler was crying his wares. The notes of a distant song which some one was singing reached her faintly, and countless sparrows were twittering in the eaves.

There were patches of blue sky showing here and there through the clouds that had met and piled one above the other in the west facing her window.

She sat with her head thrown back upon the cushion of the chair, quite motionless, except when a sob came up into her throat and shook her, as a child who has cried itself to sleep continues to sob in its dreams.

She was young, with a fair, calm face, whose lines bespoke repression and even a certain strength. But now there was a dull stare in her eyes, whose gaze was fixed away off yonder on one of those patches of blue sky. It was not a glance of reflection, but rather indicated a suspension of intelligent thought.

There was something coming to her and she was waiting for it, fearfully. What was it? She did not know; it was too subtle and elusive to name. But she felt it, creeping out of the sky, reaching toward her through the sounds, the scents, the color that filled the air.

Now her bosom rose and fell tumultuously. She was beginning to recognize this thing that was approaching to possess her, and she was striving to beat it back with her will--as powerless as her two white slender hands would have been. When she abandoned herself a little whispered word escaped her slightly parted lips. She said it over and over under hte breath: "free, free, free!" The vacant stare and the look of terror that had followed it went from her eyes. They stayed keen and bright. Her pulses beat fast, and the coursing blood warmed and relaxed every inch of her body.

She did not stop to ask if it were or were not a monstrous joy that held her. A clear and exalted perception enabled her to dismiss the suggestion as trivial. She knew that she would weep again when she saw the kind, tender hands folded in death; the face that had never looked save with love upon her, fixed and gray and dead. But she saw beyond that bitter moment a long procession of years to come that would belong to her absolutely. And she opened and spread her arms out to them in welcome.

There would be no one to live for during those coming years; she would live for herself. There would be no powerful will bending hers in that blind persistence with which men and women believe they have a right to impose a private will upon a fellow-creature. A kind intention or a cruel intention made the act seem no less a crime as she looked upon it in that brief moment of illumination.

And yet she had loved him--sometimes. Often she had not. What did it matter! What could love, the unsolved mystery, count for in the face of this possession of self-assertion which she suddenly recognized as the strongest impulse of her being!

"Free! Body and soul free!" she kept whispering.

Josephine was kneeling before the closed door with her lips to the keyhold, imploring for admission. "Louise, open the door! I beg; open the door--you will make yourself ill. What are you doing, Louise? For heaven's sake open the door."

"Go away. I am not making myself ill." No; she was drinking in a very elixir of life through that open window.

Her fancy was running riot along those days ahead of her. Spring days, and summer days, and all sorts of days that would be her own. She breathed a quick prayer that life might be long. It was only yesterday she had thought with a shudder that life might be long.

She arose at length and opened the door to her sister's importunities. There was a feverish triumph in her eyes, and she carried herself unwittingly like a goddess of Victory. She clasped her sister's waist, and together they descended the stairs. Richards stood waiting for them at the bottom.

Some one was opening the front door with a latchkey. It was Brently Mallard who entered, a little travel-stained, composedly carrying his grip-sack and umbrella. He had been far from the scene of the accident, and did not even know there had been one. He stood amazed at Josephine's piercing cry; at Richards' quick motion to screen him from the view of his wife.

When the doctors came they said she had died of heart disease--of the joy that kills.

Writing Feedback / TRAVELLING ABROAD & REASON FOR TRAVEL (IELTS TASK1) [4]

The first chart below shows the results of a survey which sampled a cross-section of
100,000 people asking if they travelled abroad and why they travelled for the period
1994-98. The second chart shows their destinations over the same period. IELTS TASK

These charts illustrate the visits abroad by UK residents by purpose of visits and destination of visits abroad by main region in 1994-1998.

There are some visit purposes was shown in the first chart such as holiday, business, visit to friends and relatives and other reasons. However, there was a decline in the amount of visitors but independently of purposes there was steady increase in visiting abroad about from 22.072 in1994 to 28.828 in 1998.Besides,the visits on business have increased regularly:while it was about 3.155 in 1994,but in 1998 this figure totalled 3.639.One of main reasons is visit to friends and relatives which has increased over the period from 2.689 in1994 to 3.051 in 1998.Similarly ,the visits on other reasons has also shown growth from 982 to 1.054 over the proper years.

Writing Feedback / IELTS; "Prevention is better than cure", However issues need to be addressed [3]

"Prevention is better than cure."
Out of a country's health budget, a large proportion should be diverted from treatment to
spending on health education and preventative measures.
To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement? IELTS TASK

The concept of health holds different meanings for different people and groups.Generally creating health for people means providing medical care to treat or prevent disease and illness.

In today's world many countries basically underdeveloped countries allocate less money for their health budget. In addition, a large proportion of these budgets divert to treatment instead of health education and preventative measures in these countries. However,I believe that all of the countries have to allocate much more for prevention and education on health compared with cure. This in turn might affect to the growth of health knowledge of people and decrease of disease level by creating healthy lifestyle and environment for people.

In my opinion, the governments may economize to their budget in future in this way.To be more precise,if governments invest to health education and preventive measures,it will show it's effects in near future. In other words, the people who live in more healthy environment and with more healthy lifestyle will less face diseases compared with before. As a result,it will pave the way for governments to less spending for health in future.

Finally,I'd like to emphasize that prevention is better than cure, however it show it's impacts in future and it is favour of both governments and people. In my view, for gaining a success with preventive measures, it must include addressing issues such as poverty, pollution, urbanisation, natural resource depletion, social alienation and poor working conditions.

Essays / introduction of essay about technology . [4]

In the current time people can't imagine their life without technology. Surrounding us various technologies are helping people to live their life with more luxury. The technology sector has changed and developed many products. The technology is providing many advantages but also it has some disadvantages. Here we will discuss about both.

Advantages
There are several advantages of technology like
Easier life - With technological machine people are getting help in every sector. Cars and bikes are helping people to reach anywhere quickly. Airplane and superfast trains have been reduced distance between cities and countries. Computer and internet are providing information in simplest way also it has changed way of communication. Now people are doing video conferencing and chatting to communicate with their friends and family used communication technology.

Lesser Mistakes - Machines are helping people to make lesser mistakes. Robots or machines are working accurately and you just need to program them with proper information. Like in production of any automotive most of manufacturing companies are using automatic machines which follow instruction of computer or that person who is operating the machine. And all work gets done perfectly.

Save Time - Technologies are saving our time, for an example you can flew anywhere in the world in lesser time. With computer you can do any work in lesser time and also it help to enhance quality and provide suggestions.

Machines are helping people in kitchen too - like Oven and these are also saving time.
Disadvantages
Every one knows that technology is very helpful but it has some disadvantages too. Because many companies have adopted automatic machines so that they can improve their production with accuracy. As a result many people lost their job.

Similarly house maids are loosing their job because robotic machines are doing their job. Owner need to pay one time only while maid get paid for every month.

However machines and robots look inexpensive and good to use but, when any technical problem occurs in machine or robot, it took much time to fix it and also it can be expensive.

As we found that in technology sector, there are many advantages and disadvantages, even then people can't imagine their life without technology including me.

Research Papers / The Pros and Cons of Charismatic Leaders Research Paper [3]

The word "charisma" comes from the Greek and means "grace' or "gift." In the early Christian church it was used to describe one of several possible manifestations of the presence of the Holy Spirit.

Today charisma is regarded by most as the persuasiveness, and personal magnetism, that enables one to lead and to attract followers. (Often, although not exclusively, charisma is coupled with physical attractiveness).

In a leadership setting, charisma is a valuable asset. That is not to say that there are not very effective leaders with a low charisma quotient (Microsoft founder Bill Gates, for example, or former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright). And there are many charismatic leaders who have not achieved their visionary goals - oftentimes to the disillusionment of their followers and supporters.

Can charisma be learned? There have been some academic studies which have shown that some of the aspects of charismatic leadership (public presence, persuasive speaking, body language) can indeed be taught.

There is some wariness about charismatic leaders, especially in traditional organizations that prize continuity and an orderly process in decision making.

J.W. Gannon, J.C. Hannon and C.W. Blackwell, in an article in The Journal of Leadership Studies (1998) noted that:

If you are being led by a charismatic, your organization is in for an exciting, emotional time. Effective followers will withhold instant allegiance to the charismatic and take a fair look at the person's intentions and actions.

It is not unusual for a charismatic leader to face some suspicion. From an organizational perspective it is important to determine how much of a personal agenda a newly-appointed charismatic leader has - unfortunately some of those who are strongly charismatic are also narcissists and may not have the best interests of the organization at heart.

Writing Feedback / The role of fathers in children's upbringing. [3]

Fatherhood ought to be emphasised as much as motherhood. The idea that women are
solely responsible for deciding whether or not to have babies leads on to the idea that they
are also responsible for bringing the children up.(IELTS TASK)

In olden times there was a standart family structure .In this structure father ought to work and earn for meeting requirements of his family. On the contrary, mother ought to be engaged with upbringing of the children at home.

In todays world the life conditions already has changed either from an economic or social viewpoint. In addition demands have changed and expanded. This in turn has effected to structure of families which have been created over years. However we have to admit that this structure of family have been maintained in many countries and families yet. Almost in modern families both of parents are working and both of them are responsible for child -rearing.Women have worked and participated in social life actively with improvement of position of women in society. In this case responsibilities regarding children must be divide among them.

In my opinion, the role of father in upbringing children is very important and ought to be emphasized as much as mother's.Undoubtedly, children need the kindness and bring up of each parents. Therefore,if children feel the lack of any parent,it can show it's negative effects to their identity formation process. However, many families hire a nanny or lead their child to kindergarten as a way out of the situation.

In conclusion,I'd like to emphasize the presence of fathers must significantly rise in child-rearing process.Neither kindergartens nor nannies can't substitute value, which parents give to their children. Therefore, both of parents must take directly responsibility in upbringing process of children. As,it shows it's impacts to their future life.

Writing Feedback / Career in today's world; Chances for a good job [2]

In today's world, the idea of having single career is becoming an old fashioned one.Because, technology has developed enormously and this in turn effected all spheres of life.Undoubtedly, the economy holds first place in the row of objects of basic influence and of course it effects to employment directly.

In olden days, many people were used to do jobs under farmers' cultivated field or had there own business. They used to make money easily and it was sufficient to know about their single profession but not multi-skill like today. In contrast with living in the past, these days many companies and manufacturers attract multi-talented people for their jobs, so people with lower education and skills may lose their jobs. Compared, with an enhancement in technology in modern days, many jobs are not in use and it is quite impossible to get a job without multiple skills. For instance, bank employees have been losing their jobs because many people now use ATM's for withdrawing money and even use home computer for local transactions. So in industries like textile, cement etc, there is no place to find a job because almost work is being done by machines like loading and unloading of materials etc.

To my mind jobs and careers are more technical and difficult than the past and so are earning money. It makes each person to learn lots of skills and knowledge for his/her own profession.

Taking into account of all these factors, we may reach the conclusion that education plays a very important role in human's life. Many technical institutes are running for teaching and training. It's an opportunity to learn computer skills or other knowledge for people who want a better job and make good money.

Therefore, in my point of view along with education, technical skills can be improved and people with higher qualification and extensive technical skills have a better chance to get good jobs and make good money and reach their goals.

Writing Feedback / Good and Bad news and factors which influence to news editors. [2]

News editors decide what to broadcast on television and what to print in a newspaper. What factors do you think influence their decisions? Do we become used to bad news? Would it be better if more good news was reported?

First of all it should be considered that information is the almost everything in this energetic and competitive world. We are trying to get latest information and news for being aware on last processes which are taken places everyday in the world. There are several factors which influence news editors' decisions. However,I want to give additional explanation on this matter. We have to distinguish democratic and non-democratic countries from this point of view.Because, the factors which I will enumerate below ,don't belong to non-democratic countries. In short, all decisions in these countries are taken by government with distortions and censorships in accordance with their own wishes. In all democratic countries decisions are taken by news editors freely.

.Firstly, the news should be hot and attractive. The reason is that people don't like to watch or read older news, not only month or week ago,but also a day before in this fast moving world. Another important factor is the choice of customer which is being addressed much more. For instance; If the majority of customers are businessmen and politician, then economical and political issues should be highlighted compared with entertaining news, vice versa, if the main part of your public are teenagers ,then it should be better to to choose more amusing news. Therefore, what influences news editors' decisions the most is the taste of their customers.

On television or in newspapers,we seem to become used to bad news.Of course, the bad news are undeniable part of our life and the bad things occur on earth day by day.Besides, the bad news are more attractive and makes us curious. We immediately want to find out if it will influence us or not.If we say that roughly, news editors abuse from this instinct of people for gaining more and more customers which means more and more money. As a result,we will buy newspapers or watch TV news for finding answers to our questions.

In conclusion, I think it would be better if more good news reported compared with bad news.Because,we live in the stressful and anxious world anyway and bad news make us sadder. This in turn, may bring about to nerve diseases in future. So we need much more good news, however, we should be aware about the bad news which make up the reality of our life. I suppose that if the bad news don't threaten the world, then news editor briefly may report or print at the end .

The chart below shows the amount of money per week spent on fast foods in Britain. The graph shows the trends in consumption of fast foods.

Write a report for a university lecturer describing the information shown below

This chart shows that high income group prefer to consume hamburgers as average income group. Therefore, they spend much more for it about 45 pence per person per week compared with average income group (just over 30 pence).Unlike this, the low income group mostly spend for fish and chips around 18 pence.Besides, hamburger expenditures in this group make up only 14 pence. In addition, the most expense on fish and chips consumption is in the average income group and it account for 25 pence. Moreover, spending on pizza in this group 3 times less (roughly 13 pence) compared with hamburger expenses.By the way,low income group also spend minimum for pizza consumption around 8 pence.Differently,in the outlays of high income group on fast foods, pizza (approximately 20 pence) prevail over fish and chips (about 18 pence).

As shown in the graph, the consumption of hamburgers per person per week have increased dramatically about fivefold, from 95 gr to 320gr,between 1970-1990 years.Similarly, the consumption of pizza have been increased around from 20 gr to 280 gr.However, these two fast food lines in this graph have been increased as straight proportional. On the contrary, the line of fish and chips has been in wavy form.If we say clearer, the most consumption of fish and chips has been 300gr per week in 1970.It has declined steadily up to 200 gr in 1985,but then it has risen slightly again up to 220gr in 1990.

In conclusion, regardless of income, the hamburger gain first place in the fast food ration of people in Britain. It is followed by fish and chips, however, it's consumption line has been fluctuating on years. The pizza consumption lag behind from other fast foods, but it has already been increasing steadily.

Writing Feedback / What historical event in your country has had a major effect on your country? [2]

I think the historical event that had great effect on my country is a Treaty of Gulistan.Because with the deal of this treaty that happened in 1813 Azerbaijan was separeted into two parts.South azerbaijan was taken by Iran and present Azerbaijan was taken to (by) Russia. And (As a result) this separation caused big affliction for my country. This treaty most afflicted to our development of country, independence and dignity.

Azerbaijan was probably the most advanced country in the Caucasus. But after this horrible treaty my country couldn't develop in a high level. It all depends on invader. All resources of country were in their hand.Such resources as petrol and natural gas reserves. It (prevented our future development much more)

The biggest disaster for all countries in the world is the loss of their independence.Azerbaijan was one of this countries. We couldn't deal with another countries without agreement of Russia. And it means that we couldn't export our resources to other countries separately and we couldn't share our cultures achievements with other countries.

This treaty influenced people's dignity because for ages people lived in a common country. But after this treaty steel border separated one nation into two parts,as a body was divided into two parts. Some families lost their close relatives in opposite side of the border.Even one of the singers sang about this separation. And in the result of this separation young members of these families don't aware about their relatives.

After this treaty Azerbaijan lost its powerty in caucasus territory. But after many years he was able to stand up in all areas and to be as it was.

Writing Feedback / Rich countries should share wealth among poor countries! [3]

There is a such tendency in the world that wealthier nations aids to poorer and underdeveloped nations as financial ,food, educational aids etc...In the times of crises ,revolutions and dissatisfaction the question always arises that why do rich countries not help the poor? Why do they not share their wealth to make the world a better place to live?

Citizens of both wealthy nations and poorer nations are human beings and we are all living together in one world so we cannot be careless about the situation of people in poor countries. In a globalizing world all nations become more dependent on each other.Problems which have occurred in poorer countries are spreaded and influence to others and this in turn becomes a more global problem.Such humanitarian aids prevent mass migrations and future civil wars from this part of world.

At the same time supported countries may be turn to one of the biggest consumer of wealthier nations .This in turn can be considered as strategical aid.

On the other hand these supported countries must seek ways for development and become independent from other countries' money. For instance: Austria and Japan had been financed after World War Second for reconstruction and development of destroyed countries under the Europian Recovery Program which had been created by the government of USA and better known as the Marshall plan.In the result of these countries' determination , at present, they are well- developed countries .

All facts considered,I think that wealthier nations should help poorer nations but only by letting them help themselves. Teach them how to grow crops instead of just giving them food, show them how to get clean water supplies instead of just sending them trucks of water, and to try opening dialogues with their governments on how to improve their school systems. As the proverb says 'Give a man a fish, he has lunch for a day. Teach a man to fish, he has lunch everyday.' In my personal opinion is that this way will be much more helpful to poorer nations than just sharing their profits.

Wait for your suggestions...Thanks in advance

Writing Feedback / ancient humans formed rhythms by stones; traditional vs international music [3]

hi
i am preparing for IELTS,so please help me to find out wrongs in my essay...

The music is the separable part of our life.It has arisen from natural needs. In ancient times humans have formed rhythms by striking stones to each others.Later, simple musical instruments arose. At the present time music and musical equipments have developed very much. The music accompanies us from birth to death. It gives us aesthetic taste by giving rest to our brain and soul.Every our mood demands appropriate type of music. There is a saying that "Music is the food of soul".Almost it is used in every section of life, for example:in sport and army for encouraging ,in medicine for sedative aims,etc...

We can seperate 2 types of music such as traditional and international music.Although to saying that "Music doesnt have language, religion and race",every nations have their specific traditional musics.Usually these types of musics are performed by special musical instruments that belongs to the same nations.Traditional musics informs us about the past and culture of one nation. From this view traditional musics must be keep alive for delivering cultural past to coming generations.

But there is not place restiction for international music. This type of music is accepted all around the world and it is very popular. There are many branches of international music, for example:pop,rock,R&B,jazz...etc

According to me these types of musics have to assume the same importance for each country and for each nations.Because to preserve traditional music is the preserving past and culture. At the same time widely spreading of international music is the demand of the time.

Consequently,i think we can improve the international music by synthesizing it with traditional music.By this way we can preserve traditional music at the content of popular international music and we can make it more attractive for younger part of people.
