Scholarship / Leadership position and what I did individually to make a change [4]

I don't really know how to build around this story to bring out the desired effect. I have also held the position of the head lab prefect in my high school and would like to write about that but I didn't really do much to make any significant change..below is the prompt for the essay

Q:"we want to know how you demonstrate your potential for leadership and your ability to give back to your community. tell us about any positions of leadership or responsibility you have undertaken in the last five years . please include details of the position you held and what you did individually to make a change"

academic team chairman

In my fourth year in high school I joined the JETS club (Junior Engineers, Technicians and scientists club), a club focused on developing the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) skills of students in the science class. JETS club really helped stabilize my grades and so when I was made the chairman of the academic team in my fifth year I vowed to do much more for upcoming young members.

As the academic team chairman I was responsible for organizing tutorial classes in the basic science subjects. I collected the scheme of work for each subjects from respective head teachers and then drafted out a teaching plan for the tutorials.

I however found out that the turnout of female students was low; I found this really disturbing and sought to address this issue before the end of my tenure. I had a talk with the patron of the club and invited him to have a talk with the female science students. I also started organizing quizzes between male and female members of the club and giving away prizes to the winners. This went a long way in heightening their interest in club activities. The female students developed a competitive spirit; they became bent on beating the boys in the quizzes so they devoted more time to the tutorial classes.

At the end of my tenure, the number of female participants in club activities increased considerably, their participation in club activities also improved their grades in the science courses.

Research Papers / Addressing an issue in my country with my degree choice [2]

help me review this;

Q: we want to ensure that your studies at the university of edinburgh benefit you and your community in the future. tell us how your choice of degree will empower you to pursue a career that addresses any issues in your country.

degree for self and community benefits

In Nigeria women are generally underrepresented in technology-related jobs, especially in technical positions and at leadership levels. Little or no efforts have been made to resolve this issue as most people don't even consider it as an issue at all. I hope with a degree and a career in the IT field I will be able to balance the male to female ratio in the tech industry up to a considerate level.

My career choice requires a high level of technical and innovative skills. A degree in electronics and computer science will help me learn a lot of things relevant to my career such as the basics of security, vulnerabilities and cryptography and the development of my programming, strong data structures and algorithm skills. This will go a long way in helping me to be efficient and indispensable in the IT field.

After completing my degree in electronics and computer science I plan on pursuing a career as an IT consultant. I intend to gain work experience and contacts for a couple of years after which I will move on to start my own firm.

As an employer of labor I hope to address the issue of female underrepresentation in technology related jobs. I plan on increasing the number of female technologists in the IT sector by placing diversity at the heart of my recruitment and retention activities. For women with little or no knowledge in tech, I will organize on-the-job training to facilitate learning and acquisition of innovative skills.

Graduate / Motivation Letter for a Scholarship application to study in Ms.c Computer Science. [4]

Hello tomisin
This looks more of an academic/career goal statement..
After going through the essay, I still find it quite hard to actually tell what motivates you..You've stated your passion for IT quite clearly but what has kept that passion burning?... Try to identify what has kept your passion for IT burning.. That is your motivation..

Then try to build your essay much more around it..

Scholarship / Helping the poor and the underprivileged. Essay on my values and passion as a person [4]

please help me go through this;

Q: We want to hear what you are passionate about and what motivates you . write about a topic that reflects who you are/your values

Helping others

The old man smiled thankfully through his brown teeth and freckled face as I dropped my last change in his bowl, he was the old beggar that begged close to our school gate. I smiled and nodded back and then ran off for lectures. Putting smiles on people's faces gives me joy; it gives me a sense of satisfaction knowing I am the reason behind their smile. I am really passionate about helping people.

My passion for helping people motivated me to join a local community intervention initiative which was geared towards reaching out to the poor and less privileged in the community. I contributed to the program in my own little way by donating some of my old clothes. I pictured the smiles that will spread across the lips of the unclad children when they receive the clothes and it brought joy to my heart.

I believe everybody has equal right to happiness no matter their situation and financial status. Empathy and compassion are my core values, I believe in giving humanity a chance because nobody is responsible for his/her predicament. I try putting myself in some people's shoes so as to share their pain; this motivates me to do something to make things better for them.

One day I hope to start my own community aid initiative that will help the poor and the underprivileged in my community especially the orphans. I being an orphan myself knows what it feels like to be one.

Scholarship / Transformative effect of learning experience. [2]

Please help me review this:

Q: we want mastercard scholars to continue to learn and develop as individuals at the university of edinburgh. How will this learning experience be transformative for you?

what to gain at The University of Edinburgh

The University of Edinburgh has a rich multicultural society which I hope to benefit a lot from. Learning in a multicultural environment will expose me to diverse cultures and traditions from around the globe giving me a better understanding of other people's culture, beliefs and values. This will to a great extent help me tolerate others more and build long lasting relationships. Interacting with people with different socio-cultural background could also go a long way in building my interpersonal and social skills.

When one learns in a multicultural environment his train of thought is broadened than usual. After this learning experience I don't only stand a chance of having the scope of my thoughts widened but I also gain international exposure in preparation for the global marketplace.

The flexible 4yr degree structure at the University of Edinburgh will help me know my strengths and weaknesses, this way I will be able to tailor my degree accordingly and know where to specialize in. learning for me will take a new dimension unlike learning in my home country which has been hectic and tiresome so far.

I also hope to see an improvement on my leadership skills after the transformative leadership program that will be organized by the MasterCard foundation.
At the end of the learning experience I believe I would be leaving Edinburgh with; a rich knowledge of diverse cultures, a broadened mind and a couple of life changing skills that will contribute immensely to my career and future endeavors.

Undergraduate / STUDY PLAN. I would like to ask if the Canada embassy will help me to achieve my goals [9]

Hello fahme I believe you are applying for George brown university.. And they have not admitted you yet, so I think your first sentence ("First of all I would like to thank to George brown college for accepted the offer that I ask.") Was unnecessary.

Try stating out clearly the major you want to go for..science and art is too ambiguous

Scholarship / Programming is fascinating to me. Essay on motivation, passion and values. [2]

Does the essay really answer the prompt correctly? What details should I include and what should I exclude?.. I am still having a problem in choosing a right topic for the essay, what is the best topic for this essay?

Contributions and constructive criticisms will be deeply appreciated. Thanks

Q: We want to hear what motivates you and what you are passionate about. Please write on a topic that is important to you, and reflects who you are/your values.

dedicated to programming

Everyone has something he or she is passionate about and loves to do every time without getting bored, for me it is programming.

My first encounter with programming was in high school. I started out with visual basic and then later on HTML, CSS and C++. I am currently starting out on an online arduino course and it has all been a very wonderful experience. Writing codes gives me a sense of satisfaction, it is one of the things I feel I can do well and enjoy at the same time.

Programming requires a lot of time and dedication. When I first came across it in high school I never thought I could learn it but I started anyway. Hardwork and diligence were my watchword as I began my "hello world" journey. I upheld this values like my life depended on it not only in learning programming but also in my studies.

My hardwork and diligence paid off as I saw considerable progress and improvements compared to when I started out. Seeing progress after watching tons of YouTube videos gave me joy and fueled my passion for programming. Success motivates me; when I record more successes than failures in trying out a particular thing it increases my love and passion for it. This explains my love and passion for coding. However failure fuels my desire to be successful, it offers a unique opportunity to learn from mistakes and develop strength.

Scholarship / Learning new things has always been a great motivator for me. Essay for MasterCard [7]

Hello kenechukwu
I don't think the essay clearly depicts who you are or what your values are.. You spent most of your word count on talking about teamwork..i think the essay should focus more on who you are and those reading the essay should get a clear picture of your personality from the texts.

Scholarship / Engaging with the network of Mastercard Foundation Scholars [3]

Am still trying to work on the introduction and then also i seek to make some additions too. please suggestions for how i can start the introduction and additions i can make will be accepted. i will also appreciate constructive criticisms and grammatical corrections.

contribution to the network of MCF scholars

How would you continue to engage with the network of mastercard foundation scholars and how do you envisage the network may help you in the future.

The network of MasterCard foundation scholars enables students to meet and exchange ideas and most importantly forge a common identity. Therefore it is very vital to stay connected.

I hope to stay connected to this network of influence via different social media platforms like twitter, facebook and LinkedIn. Asides that I will identify with the university alumni services so I can keep in touch with all members of the network across the globe. At opportune times I could also attend reunions to help strengthen old bonds and relationships. i also plan on forming business links with colleagues and superiors in my field of specialisation.

I stand to believe that my net worth is not the amount of assets I have nor the size of my capital but the size and quality of my network. The benefits of identifying with a global network of life changing personals are vast. I envision engagement in this network will be totally beneficial to my career. Effective engagements in this network will open doors to new opportunities for business, personal growth and career advancement. Active participation in this network will further widen my support network; I get to discuss issues and challenges with more experienced peers and superiors.

Undergraduate / Syracuse University - Person dreaming of becoming - 250 W or less [2]

Hello rowlie,
Nice essay. I think this sentence should have been
"The college democrats organization will fuel my interest ..... "
Just replace the world "further" with "fuel" ..

And I think this sentence was unnecessary
"As a political science student who else ... "
