Graduate / Reasons for pursuing graduate study and your academic and professional interest [2]

Please the deadline for this is tomorrow: 12/15/2014. Please critique. Any feedbacks will be appreciated. Thanks in advance for the support.

Statement of Purpose

My undergraduate studies, made possible through a fully-funded scholarship program, provided me with the opportunity to take a variety of science courses and to engage in a research program, both of which reinforced and solidified my passionate career interest in power and energy systems. I am passionate about improving power and energy systems available for people worldwide because I know first-hand the hardships endured by those who do not have access to electricity. As a teenager growing up in a small town in Nigeria, I realize how large an impact electricity makes in daily life, as it was a rare occurrence for us. In Nigeria at that time, power supply was a source of joy, while its absence stole the smiles from the people. The inadequate supply of electricity led to the collapse of the town's economy as most companies could not afford the continuous use of expensive oil to generate goods and services. This deprived most families of a source of livelihood, perpetuating a rise in the societal problems.

I witnessed first-hand how a persistent power outage that lasts several years creates a huge job vacuum and leaves many families with no alternative but to leave for greener pastures. I personally lost ties with close friends and relatives, who were compelled to migrate to different countries during those tough times. Though my family and I stayed and relied on a small plastics retail sales business to provide for the family's needs, the socio-economic issues that arose from the perils of the energy sector compelled me to think deeply about my future and that of the nation. As I increasingly understood the sensitivity and severity of the looming crisis, my desire to become familiar with the constraints facing the depleted power sector was greatly spurred. This, in turn, heightened my passion as a science enthusiast, as I applied scientific methodologies in my endeavor to comprehend the complexities of the power sector.

A major factor that stood out distinctly to me was the growing population. I became aware that in addition to insufficient skilled personnel and to technical limitations, the increasing vulnerability of the power sector was exacerbated by the rising energy demand and consumption. I became convinced of the need to adopt alternative energy sources to mitigate these risks and to properly sustain the growing energy requirements. I continue to feel this way and hope to devote my career to seeing better power and energy systems developed. During my undergraduate studies I also enjoyed learning to design circuits and I strengthened my technical skills through my involvement in the Dillard University's Robotics research program. As part of this research program, I worked on a team that designed and built a functional forklift robot.

As I look forward to obtaining a master's degree before advancing into a PhD program in Energy Systems, I hope to gain a clearer understanding and to solidify my background within the field of Energy Systems to better carve out a specific research niche that aligns with my interest in smart grid systems. While my research interests are focused on the development and integration of renewable technologies and smart grid systems to better optimize energy production and usage, I believe that the masters program in Energy Systems at UT Austin will enable me to become better equipped to further my knowledge in my core area of interest. I look forward to making use of different class materials, projects and research opportunities to develop the skills, knowledge and experience that I need to fulfill my passion. I hope to leverage my computational, mathematical and research background as a foundation for studying and analyzing the complex concepts I will face in advanced studies of power systems.

After completing my undergraduate studies, I opted to take a year off to recuperate from my rigorous college experience and to prepare adequately to handle graduate studies. I am currently working for a consultancy company within the technology and utilities market to gain some perspective and I have also started taking a self-study Power course through OpenCourseware in preparation for my prospective graduate program.

I am most interested in the UX Energy Systems Engineering program within the Electrical and Computer Engineering spectrum, largely because of its state-of-the-art research program in smart grid systems pioneered by its outstanding faculty. During my research for a suitable graduate program, I was amazed to learn about the researches in the areas of intelligent systems development for power grid enhancements and optimization of electric power systems spearheaded by Dr. Sidat and Dr. Kelvin, respectively. In addition to the hands-on opportunities that students are given to engage in smart grid projects, the Power and Systems Engineering program at UX speaks for itself, with its students emerging as winners in competitions. The opportunity to work under a great faculty and in the ideal research climate that UX provides will make my experience both challenging and rewarding.

On completion of advanced studies, my goal is to work as a Power and Energy Consultant in third world countries providing expertise, insight and innovative approaches to some of the challenges faced in the energy sector. Ultimately, I aim to see a more productive and prosperous environment by facilitating the development of this industry in third world countries to better meet their growing energy needs and to facilitate more efficient production and usage of energy.

Undergraduate / Event and life experience that has had the greatest influence in shaping my character [3]

Question: "What event or life experience has had the greatest influence in shaping your character and why?" (500 words minimum).
Essays will be judged based on depth of analysis and awareness of the issue and/or challenge addressed, as well as creativity, composition and originality.

Pls, strong critique this essay. Does this essay strongly meet the requirement. I will appreciate any help that I can receive.

Connecting the dots looking backwards, I have realized that there are certain factors that has contributed immensely in shaping my thoughts, views and personality and in my pursuit for unparalleled success. Drawing inspirations from these factors: struggles, adversities, experiences, family values and morals, have been a source of strength in having an unwavering commitments towards accomplishing my career goals and giving back to the community. An immigrant to the US, I experienced difficulties growing up as a child amongst five siblings in a poor Christian family in Nigeria but with the aid of good parenting, I realized the importance of valuing leadership, setting out goals and striving with steadfast determination and hardwork to achieve them at an early age. My hardworking parents exemplified moral qualities through their works ethics and values that they instilled in their children that have resonated with me during these years of unrelenting pursuit for academic success.

Like every other child, I was not fortunate to commence schooling at an early age because my parents could not afford the cost to send all their children to a private institution. I was amongst those kids that were homeschooled till the age of seven when I had an opportunity to enroll into a free public school where I completed elementary and secondary education. Growing up in a multiethinic city, I witnessed the tribal violence that engulfed and turned the city that I once called home into a jungle. Confined to my own world and living every day as if it were my last, all that I sought after was finding and pursuing true happiness: achieving my dreams. Science was the key to unlocking my life's purpose, provided answers to many questions that I had and I resorted to it as a source to get away from the adversities and violence that centered around my childhood days.

During my secondary education, I fell in love with the revolutionizing power of science from reading about innovations; utilizing its concepts in classroom experiments and in solving real problems. Science provided plausible explanations of laid theories, refined methodologies to solve complex problems and ideas that can be built upon to create or improve existing innovations. Through scientific thinking , I could imagine the "Next Big Thing". This originality spurred my curiosity for science and reinstated the importance of education. Having cognition of the value of schooling increased my dedication and commitment towards my studies and my aptitude for learning. Being aware of my financial status that would have limited my chances of acquiring a degree upon graduating amongst the top five students in secondary school , I sought out other opportunities to fund college education. I learnt, studied and took the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) that earned me a Dean's scholarship at Voorhees College located in Denmark, SC.

Studying Computer Science with minor in Physics and Mathematics, I have demonstrated achievements in academics, leadership, community service engagements and academic research activities. Maintaining a 4.0 CGPA, I have served as the secretary of SIFE, and a project committee chairperson of the Voorhees College Rotarct Club. Being the current president of N.S.B.E chapter at Dillard University, I spurred the chapter's mission to reduce students' dropout rates by organizing tutoring sessions and career workshops at both Dillard University and New Orleans high schools. I implemented a "Reach One, Teach One" mentorship program that provided Martin Luther King high school students the opportunity to learn and apply fundamental science concepts to design and create electric circuit and functional robots. Deriving a valuable experience and a positive outcome from their collaborative efforts and contributions in the project, they felt empowered, developed a curiosity for science, and nurtured a passion to accomplish their aspirations. Also a Louisiana Alliance Minority Participation program research student, I have been able to hone my technical skills from engaging in research activities in areas of networking and robotics.

My journey towards becoming an Electrical and Computer Engineer wouldn't have been possible if not for hardwork, dedication that enabled me to acquire altruistic supports in the form of scholarships. Upon achieving a successful career, my long term goal is to establish an institution that will provide an opportunity for the less privileged kids, who cannot afford the cost of education, to gain prowess through technical entrepreneurship program.Upon completion of the program requirements and duration, they will obtain a license to start up a business and also, gain equal opportunity in the workforce industry. This program will assist in increasing independency, reducing illiteracy and improve the quality of life across the globe. Overcoming adversities and the fear of failure in life unleashed and strengthened my abilities, qualities, and development, but most especially, enabled my understanding of life's bigger picture: we are called to serve.

Scholarship / "Life must be characterized by a sense of universal responsibility"; Legacy Scholarship? [3]

Pls critique!
Question:
Why should you be selected to receive the Fulfilling the Legacy Scholarship? Provide one example of how you are "fulfilling the legacy". What are your plans for the future and how is being a NIAA member helping you to achieve your goals and fulfill the NIAA legacy?

I believe in the saying by Tenzin Gyatso that today, more than ever before, life must be characterized by a sense of universal responsibility, not only nation to nation and human to human, but also human to other forms of life. Pursuing an aspiration to be a new millennium entrepreneur that will strive to make a difference, I have learned that the transformation towards enhancing a more sustainable world is a continuous process that is constantly shaped by nurturing and fulfilling the legacy of career success and commitments. This legacy entails achieving, working in a desired career path and fostering a platform for others to realize their dreams. In recognizing that my stepping stone to success was not self-created but was laid by the actions of philanthropic individuals who envisioned a better society and the need for such activities to be continued, it is my obligation to trail same path in executing tasks that fosters the betterment of mankind.

As a junior double majoring in Computer Science and Engineering Physics, my career goal is to become an electrical engineer skilled in designing, defining and applying cutting edge solutions to solve complex problems. In realizing this dream, my personal and professional services will not tend to only contribute towards building a more viable environment but will positively impact the African American community and the world at large. Since being a member of NIAA, I'm one step closer towards actualizing my ambition. NIAA has provided me various platforms to learn about my prospective career field, network and hone leadership skills through career fairs, symposiums and networking events. In addition to enhancing my professional development, NIAA has giving me an opportunity to fulfill the legacy of increasing the number of cultural responsible black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community.

Currently serving as the Dillard University NIAA Chapter President, I have organized career developmental and community rebuilding projects. In spurring our organization mission to reduce the number of teenage dropouts in the New Orleans environs, I have planned tutoring activities and career workshops at Dillard University and in high schools. I implemented a "Reach One, Teach One" mentorship program through which high students gained opportunities to learn, design simple circuits and build functional robots. Deriving a valuable experience through working on different projects, they developed a curiosity for science, improved academically and nurtured a passion to accomplish their career dreams. My long term goal upon achieving a successful career is to establish an institution that will provide an opportunity at no cost for the less privileged kids, who cannot afford the cost of education, to gain prowess through technical entrepreneurship programs through which they will obtain license to start up a business and gain equal opportunity in the workforce industry. These programs will assist in increasing independency, reducing illiteracy and improving the living standard across the globe.

My journey towards becoming an Electrical Engineer wouldn 't have been made more easier if not for my strong academic performance and commitment to leadership that have enabled me to acquire laurels and financial assistance from altruistic organizations. Having shown a strong commitment in executing humanitarian projects and leadership, it will be an honor to be chosen for the prestigious NIAA Fufilling the Legacy Scholarship award. Being a recipient of the NIAA Scholarship will not only inspire my dreams but will bolster my pursuit for academic excellence and to make a positive impact in the society. In enabling to cover for my educational expenses and to foster my preparation for a graduate program in Electrical Engineering, this award will provide the fund to conduct research projects that will enhance the ascertainment of valuable experience and skills requisite to accomplish a successful profession.

Writing Feedback / Science VS Religion - what is best for the people? [14]

Man has always been able to grasp anything that has been offered to him with proof. To be honest, I too feel that anything proved to be correct is worth believing. But there's a small problem.

Your essay is great. I like your perspective and diction . I really think that you should put yourself in the mind of a more religious person to try as much as possible to provide pertinent point to solidfy the arguement from a religious pespective.

Well, no school of thought has a concerete evidence that has explain the evolution of man. But science has done the world more good and more harm at same time than religion has. This is why the world we continue to remain a mystery.

Overall, this is a great essay

Scholarship / 'being able to visualize my future' - How is give back to my Community [NEW]

Please, This scholarship essay is due on the March 18.
what are the errors and cliches.
Does the essay meet the requirement of this question
please I need a constructive crticism and thanks in anticipation for your help.

How do you currently give back to your community, and how will you continue to do so? Why is this important to you? (Limited to 500 words)

In retrospection of my past experiences, my present and being able to visualize my future, I have seen from experience that the even a small commitment to works of humanity possesses an influential power in inspiring lives and change in the society and it for such derived benefits, I have develop a passion towards community service activities. Joy filled the household of Mr. and Mrs. Cletus Ogburie on receiving the news of my birth. According to the Ibo land's tradition, a son is the heir apparent and his birth is requisite to continue the family's lineage. Overwhelmed by happiness during the naming ceremony, my parents chose to name me "Chigozie" meaning "God's blessing". Growing up amongst five siblings, life was not an easy path for my family and in my position as the eldest child; it was my duty to take care of my sibling.

The moment of happiness eventually became short lived during an eruption of a tribal in the city. Being a victim to a war, I know how it feels to be trapped in a middle of a crisis heightened by mass ignorance and left to survive without shelter and limited amount of food. My wish for no child to experience similar conditions has motivated me to join the movements that pursue the education of the less privileged kids as its paramount goal. Since my college studies, I have participated in community outreach projects through various organizations I have joined. In my position as the President of the Voorhees College Rotaract club, an affiliation of the Rotary International, I implemented a "Reach One, Teach One" project in the Denmark Olar High school aimed at reducing the rate of teens dropping out from high school . This program offered teens the opportunity to participate in science projects, tutoring and mentoring activities. Through involvement in this program, students develop a passion for science, improved academically and were inspired to pursue a college education to achieve a career.

I also implemented a "Purple Pinky" project to raise fund for the eradication of Polio across the globe and also has participated in various sanitation activities in the environment. Once the Secretary of the Student in Free Enterprise, I was a member of team that executed a "Save a Child Abroad" project. In this project, stationaries, collected through free will donations, were sent to Osusu Primary and Secondary School in Aba, Abia State in Nigeria, to support the education the less privileged students.

As I strive to ascertain my career as an Electrical and Computer engineer, my long term goal is to establish an institution that would provide an opportunity for the unfortunate kids, who cannot afford the cost of college education, to gain prowess in technical and entrepreneurship program, obtain license to start up a business as well as gain equal opportunity for job employment. This program will assist in increasing independency, reducing illiteracy and improving the standard of living in places like Nigeria.

Undergraduate / A time I exhibited an exemplary leadership within a group and its impacts. [3]

Please, This essay is due for submission on March 18.

I need a constructive criticisim . Does my essay answer the question. What are the cliches? Thanks in anticipation for your asistance

Tell us about a time you exhibited exemplary leadership within a group. How did your leadership affect the development and dynamic of your group? (Limited to 500 words)

My leadership Experience

Effective leadership is an influential tool with benefits not limited to the ascertainment of a specific goal but in addition, inspires people to dream more, do more and become more. It is an engine that drives eminent changes and economic development in a society. From experience, I have learned the success of a group can not be attained through the single effort of a leader, but in a joint and committed effort of every member. To ensure the commitment of members and the continued success of a team, the mantle to lead comes with greater responsibilities and challenges. The role of leadership compels a leader to possess and showcase a level of professionalism and moral principles to enhance growth of a team.

Self-motivation, creativity, confidence, a good sense of sound judgment, and respect are the skills and values I have exercised in my position as the president of the Rotaract Club during my studies at Voorhees College. The Rotaract club, an affiliation of the Rotary International, is a humanitarian organization that strives to enhance societal development through community services. During my tenure, I ensured that all members were treated with dignity and respect and exercised same and equal rights and opportunities in our affairs. At the end of each academic semester, we always had a final meeting in which every member had an opportunity to make remarks and also hatch their valued opinions on areas and positions on the team that needed improvement. Though conflict may grow at times, we strived within our powers to resolve our issues fairly and amicably. With every member entitled to equal rights and just treatment, we impacted ourselves to execute our vision effectively by developing a strong solidarity and commitment in growing as a team.

Being a team, our visions were to enhance a more safe and healthy environment and to reduce the rate of teenage dropout in Denmark in South Carolina. I assisted in spurring the implementation of these goals by inspiring them through the stories and experiences of how I became a victim of economic adversity and war crisis caused of ignorance, during my childhood days in Nigeria, and how it my paramount aim to ensure that no child experience similar conditions since its long lasting impacts. With the zeal to improve the health standard in Denmark community, we initiated the idea of engaging in biweekly sanitation activities in different locations through an "Adopt a High way" program. A week before the execution of each sanitation activity, I ensured that reminders were sent out on daily basis in college webmail and page on social networks to publicize the project. Although a small number of students turned in the commencement of this project, our sustained commitment inspired other students and inhabitants to see our vision and join our crusade for change. Our committed efforts influenced the inhabitants to comply weekly with civic duty to promote a clean environment.

In addition, we implemented a "Reach One, Teach One project" in the Denmark Olar High School as a way to help increase student's retention and graduation from high school. This project, which was held on alternate Saturdays, offered high school students an opportunity to participate in various scientific projects, tutoring and other mentoring activities. Though their participation in this program, students developed a passion in science areas, improved academically and mentally, and nurtured a passion to pursue career studies in universities. As a team, we became more motivated to continue in advocacy for change on seeing the impacts of our works and how the inhabitants of the community became really appreciative of our efforts.

In conclusion, as a team, we served as role models and mentors to each other, nurtured the aspirations of every member, and gained the benefits of true commitment. Undergraduate / 'My Career Interest and Skills' - the skills you would bring to the WAB internship [NEW]

Please the deadline to submit this essay is in two day time. Please I need a constructive criticisim in editing this essay.
What are the errors? Does the essay answer the question? What are the cliche and corrections to be made? Thanks in anticipation for editing my essay.

In an essay not longer than one page, describe the skills you would bring to the WAB internship as well as how WAB can contribute to your career path.

My Career Interest and Skills

I was born and raised amongst five siblings, in a poor Christian Family in Aba, Abia State in Nigeria. Growing up in the times of economic hardship, life was not an easy walkway for my family. My parents owned a small retail shop where they sold plastic bags to meet the family's needs. Despite the fact that most poor families in the city where I lived couldn't afford to educate their children, my siblings and I were sent to school and were bred to ingest good moral principles which amount to respecting people, valuing leadership and possessing a life's goal.

I prioritized education at a young age as I realized it was my easiest opportunity to become prolific in life. In high school, I was intrigued by energy, was keen to learn about production facilities and my curiosity to ascertain knowledge influenced me to embark on several research projects and ask questions about scientific inventions. My dedication towards my studies has enabled the discovery of my prospective and passionate career interest - to become an Electrical and Computer Engineer skilled in utilizing scientific principles to design, modify electrical prototypes, test automated facilities and recommend solutions to correct malfunctions and improve efficiency and run time in production systems of client based firms.

Upon high school graduation, my plan to acquire a college education was not realized immediately due to my financial instability. I never felt discouraged but pressed ahead firmly seeking ways to acquire financial support for education. A breakthrough moment was perceived when I came across a testing agency that host International examinations used in securing admissions and scholarships to study abroad. I applied and took the Scholastic Aptitude Examination (SAT) and earned a high score which secured me a Deans Scholarship to study Computer Science and Mathematics at Voorhees College.

I maximized various avenues via my membership in voluntary based organizations at Voorhees College to enhance personal and professional growth. I was the Public Relations Officer of the Voorhees Rotaract Club, an affiliation of Rotary International and implemented several community service based projects. Being the Voorhees College Student in Free Enterprise's Secretary, I implemented a "Save a Child Abroad" project to raise books and stationery that would be utilized in supporting the education of less privileged kids in Nigeria.

Currently a transfer student with a 3.9 CG.P.A studying Physics and Computer Science at Dillard University, I have become a participant in the Louisiana Alliance Minority Program and I been able to conduct scientific projects for publications. I am currently seeking to gain a valuable experience through integrating my skills to solve real and complex technology problems in the environment and to amplify my knowledge on my prospective career, and for accomplishing my intent, I would not hesitate to accept an internship offer from WAB.

In conclusion, hard work, passion, creativity, positive curiosity, and perseverance - the depicted theme are the arts which I would employ during the course of an internship at WAB to reach her goal and also, my personal goals. Through working with skilled professional and cutting edge technology in a fast growing and paced environment at WAB, I would ascertain scientific knowledge, valuable experience and networking opportunities that would empower me to jumpstart my career, nurture and develop a diversified career growth in other specific interests and roles in the technology industry.

Scholarship / How I demonstrated team-oriented leadership through my involvement with campus based [NEW]

My Leadership Roles and Community Involvements
In honing my skills and giving back to the community, I have played various leadership roles through my affiliation with various organizations on campus. Contributing immensely to developments via community services projects are ways I deem myself to be an advocate of change in the society. Since my enrollment into college, I have participated in various community service projects that have yielded positive developments in the society.

I was able to demonstrate team oriented leadership via my involvement with the Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) Chapter at Voorhees College. SIFE is an international non-profit organization that works with leaders in business and higher education to teach college students important concepts by mobilizing them to develop and participate in educational outreach projects while developing the skills to become socially responsible business leaders.

Being a SIFE member, I implemented an "Educate a Child Abroad" project, to raise books and stationary to support the education of less privileged kids in Nigeria. In realizing the minimum target of raising a thousand books, I sent letters to non-governmental agencies, state libraries, departmental stores and university's faculties, and also, hosted awareness programs in the university and neighboring high schools in reaching out to the students to support this project. This project assisted me in building my entrepreneurship skills as I deployed and navigated various options in accomplishing this mission. I also participated as a customer service member in "Rock for Dough" fundraising, golf sponsored project to support less privileged kids in the Augusta, Georgia community. In addition to my roles, I have presented business projects at SIFE regional competition held in Atlanta, Georgia.

As the Public Relation Officer of the Rotaract Club, an affiliation of the Rotary International, I mentored and taught the Denmark Olar High school students Elementary Mathematics and Physical Sciences via a "Reach One, Teach One" project. This project was aimed at assisting the students to develop a positive attitude and pursue academic excellence in their studies. Mentoring the high school students was helpful in improving my creative ability and developing a good working relationship with kids. I assisted in raising funds for treatment of polio victims across the globe during the "Purple Pinky" project on the world polio day. On several occasion, I have been involved in community sanitations via the "Adopt a Highway" program.

Currently a transfer student at Dillard University, I was a member of the Dillard University team that took part in the United Negro College Fund annual 24th Walk for Education and AIDS to raise funds to support the education of less privileged children in the society and to combat AIDS epidemic respectively.

In conclusion, there is no greater joy derived in life than a person to be the element of change one wishes to see in his or her environment and it is for such reasons I like to invest my energy in activities that affirm the oneness of humankind. I hope to promote world peace by setting up organization that will foster civil engagement and community building through implementation of global cultural enlightenment campaign projects and collaborate with International agencies to solicit funding for provision of basic amenities: adequate health care systems, food, drugs, clean water, shelter etc., in poorest and disaster affected world regions such as Somalia.

Scholarship / 'Rome wasn't built in a day' - Essay on Career goal [3]

My Career Goal and Interest

Reminiscing the past years of countless rigors, boundless difficulties and widespread violence that centered around my childhood days, I would not had envisioned that someday I will be fortunate enough to receive formal education, or receive a scholarship for a career study abroad if not for the assistance I received. Thus the saying, every disappointment is a blessing in disguise. A Nigerian native, I was two year old at time when a tribal war between the Christians and Muslims erupted in Aba, a city I had known my entire life. The city was drenched in blood and homes were destroyed. Being one of the unlucky ones their shelter got burnt down, my family and I sought refuge in the perilous forest for several weeks until some missionaries rescued and moved us to the barracks.

During this upheaval, I attended a missionary school located at the basement of the church while my parents worked part-time at the mines. There were no chairs in the school; the students had to seat on the mats to learn. A truce was called several years later but its memories never faded away. On finishing elementary school, I couldn't get into high school immediately due to my poor financial status. My mum had to quit her part-time job to home school my siblings and I while my dad took up extra jobs to meet the family's demands. Three years passed before I received an opportunity to attend a public technical school. Despite my poor background, my siblings and I was breed to respect, to love one another, to treat people equally regardless of tribe, race, or religion, to value leadership and to possess a mission in life. These orientation and life lessons have pioneered my efforts towards becoming a responsible and successful citizen. Thus, the saying "To whom who much is given, much is expected."

As the adage goes "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush", I took education as my main priority neglecting all short cuts to success. My commitment to my studies led me into discovering my passionate field of interest - to become a certified electrical and computer engineer adept in performing continuous improvement of quality, cycle time, and reliability of production equipment via hardware and software modifications. During my technical studies, I learnt circuit diagrams and technical activities ranging from hardware to software repairs. I enjoyed designing circuits and fixing malfunctioned electronic components under the supervision of lab technician and my role model, Mr. Nkpa. My work ethics earned me recognitions through various competitions and leadership positions held. I led the members of the JET club to victory during an interstate science competition and also emerged a winner in the National Mathematics competition.

Graduating amongst the top five in my class, I made plans to pursue electrical and computer engineering studies in a university but my financial instability hindered my decision. Luckily, I was selected by the Academic Board of my technical school to take the SAT examination. I passed in flying colors and received an admission to study Math and Computer Science under a dean's scholarship at Voorhees College. I maximized various avenues via enrollment in various students network to increase professional growth at Voorhees College. I was the secretary of the Student in Free Enterprise (SIFE), participated in "Rock for Dough" golf project, a fundraising to support less privileged kids at Augusta, Georgia, and presented projects at regional competitions. Being the Public Relations Officer of the Rotaract Club, an affiliation of Rotary International, I mentored the Denmark Olar high school students via "Reach One Teach One" project, participated in fund raisings for polo victims and community sanitation. In addition, I was a residential assistant of Guerry Finaly dormitory, a peer tutor and a member of the Honors society at Voorhees College.

Last summer, I interned at an environmental program hosted by US department of Energy; my academic and non academic excellence earned me a spot in the annual interns' environmental awareness report video on USDE website. Currently a transfer student studying Physics and Computer Science and enrolled in a 3-2 Engineering Program at Dillard University, I am a peer tutor in the Student Support Services, Global Scholar Association member and participant in the Louisiana Alliance Minority Program (LAMP) currently conducting a research on the mechanism of solar panels. All this activities adds to my knowledge as well as diversity and increases my flexibility mode to become diverse in various fields.

The humanitarian alms that I have received in attaining to an unprecedented height have inspired me to comprehend that life is about giving back to Mother Nature. To me, there is no greater joy or more fulfilling moments than an individual to be the change he/she wished to see in the world. I hope to promote world peace via a diverse organization that will foster civil engagement and community building through implementation global cultural enlightenment campaign projects and collaboration with International agencies to solicit funding for provision of basic amenities: adequate health care systems, food, drugs, clean water, shelter etc, in poorest and disaster affected world regions such as Somalia.

In conclusion, my aforementioned goals are straightforward and clearly stated. Quite clear that Rome wasn't built in a day, I know that achieving my ambition is not going to be an easy one but I believe that through a virtuous cycle of commitment, my goal will be accomplished. I anticipate a candid decision of my application for Dominion Diversity Scholarship.
